Chapter 113

Lydia turned out to be a very cute and chubby baby, she was just so cuddly that I felt like holding her in my arms forever, she also was a very quiet child which made being with her all the more enjoyable. I introduced Nevaeh to her and my smartass daughter wanted to carry her baby cousin so I sat Nevie down and placed Lydia in her arms. Nevaeh squealed when Lydia touched her nose with her small hand and we all laughed because it was the cutest thing ever. I really wish things could keep being like this, just me and my family having the time of our lives with no more problems. That would be the best gift ever.

Just then, we heard a knock on the door and my mum went to answer. She had a short and low conversation with whoever was at the door before returning to us with a worried face.

“The Alpha just called your father and I and I don’t necessarily have a good feeling about it.” My mother revealed.

Since it’s the Alpha calling, they have no choice but to go. “You both should go, if he called you then it must be important. Just please be careful.” I cautioned and they assured me that they wouldn’t tell Zephyr about anything we had discussed even if he asked.

They left the room and I just tried my best to stay calm and instead focus on playing with Lydia.

They returned about fifteen minutes later and they had a worried look on their faces and this caused me to panic.

“Why the worried look? Is something wrong? Did something happen?” I bombarded them with questions.

“I’m sorry Evelyn but you’ll have to come with us, it’s urgent.” My father said and they didn’t give me a chance to say anything else before they left the room, making me more scared and confused. Was Zephyr responsible for this? What had he told my parents?

“Linda, please hold Lydia for now and watch Nevaeh as well. I’ll be back soon.” I said and handed the toddler over to her before leaving the room to follow behind my parents.

“Mum, dad, what’s going on?” I confronted them but they said nothing and this totally frustrated me. “Can you at least tell me where we’re going?” I pleaded.

“You’ll find out soon dear.” My mum answered and I just followed them until we arrived at the Grand Hall of the pack.

Surprisingly, everyone was already gathered there and I couldn’t help but wonder why. Just what on Earth is going on? My eyes catch sight of Zephyr at the center of the hall and he has a confident grin, I immediately realize that he’s behind this. He certainly has something planned but I really am in no mood for any of his drama.

The place instantly quiets down when they all realize my presence and I feel butterflies dancing around in my stomach when everyone’s eyes suddenly fall on. I don’t know what’s going on but I don’t like it.

I turn around and see that my parents have disappeared into the crowd and a frown crosses my face. I just hope this isn’t what I’m thinking.

Zephyr clears his throat before speaking. “Evelyn, we’re all glad that you’re finally here.” He said and I shot him a death glare. He had just put me on the spot and he was pretending to be innocent.

“What the hell is going on here? What do you want from me this time Zephyr?” I questioned, completely throwing formality, courtesy and etiquette to the wind. I’d had enough of this. Since he doesn’t have the decency to treat me like a guess, I certainly won’t give him any respect because he doesn’t deserve it.

I expect anger to display on his face at my words but he instead smiles but that doesn’t deter me.

“I understand that you’re very upset with me and everyone in this pack and you have every right to, we deeply wronged you in the past by falsely accusing you of killing the former Alpha and punishing you for it. We made you a slave and treated you in the worst of ways and for that we all want to apologize.

When we found out the truth two years ago, we were all filled with deep regrets and we looked for you but we couldn’t find you but now that you’re finally in front of us, it would only be right to ask for your forgiveness and honestly hope that you can find in that generous heart of yours to forgive us.” Zephyr said and I was left utterly stupefied. I had really expected anything else but this, a public apology.

After Zephyr spoke, everyone bowed their heads and asked for my forgiveness, both young and old and even my parents as well, tears clouded my vision and I was at an absolute loss for words.

This has never happened in the history of our pack but today, everyone is asking for my forgiveness and I feel so special, I can’t even express it.

Tears fell down my cheeks and I quickly wiped them away and sniffed, I was absolutely touched. Even if I had already forgiven this, I can’t afford to show weakness and especially not in front of Zephyr. I still don’t know what his intentions are and he’s the one person that I know that I can’t trust no matter what happens. His betrayal in the past has scarred me too deeply.

“Please……. Please don’t do that. It’s OK, I’ve forgiven you all. You all are like my family and there’s no way in this world that I can stay mad at family. I just want everyone here to learn something from all the things that happened to me in the past.

The first thing is that people with disabilities shouldn’t be scorned at or treated like trash, no one ever wishes to be in that condition but when they find themselves in that state, they have no choice but to learn to live with it and as their pack members and extended family, it is the duty of all of you to love and support.

Make sure to know that they are not alone and with a positive attitude, they can see past their disability and be whatever they want to or achieve whatever they want. There should be no discrimination whatsoever, everyone should be treated with love and respect no matter their age, ability or rank.

And secondly, if any crime is committed I would love it if proper investigation is conducted instead of just pointing figures. Pointing fingers and blaming others for an unfortunate incident is easy but have you ever thought about how the accused might feel? Have you ever thought of how the accusation might affect their life? What if it was wrong just like in my case? Then what? The person would have to suffer for nothing. One little accusation could ruin a person’s whole life so please be careful with the words you speak and the fingers you point. A person’s life just might depend on it.

And lastly, no matter the difficult situation you’re going through, never give up. Goddess Selene will always bring good people into your life during your darkest moments, people that will help you go through it all and emerge better and happier than you’ve ever been. That’s all I have to say.

I really have forgiven all of you and I don’t want any of you to feel guilty anymore. I only wish that you would take my words to heart and practice them. Putting them into action will only make our pack stronger and a much better place to live and grow together.” I said and the place exploded in applause. I didn’t even realize that I had been crying all the while, maybe coming here wasn’t so bad after all.

My mum came to me and hugged me and I just smiled. It felt like a part of me that I had lost when I left this Pack four years ago, had been magically restored. I just had this strange type of joy that I couldn’t explain.

Zephyr cleared his throat and the room went silent.

“Now that we’ve apologized for our mistakes and paved the way for a new beginning, I would like to announce that a party will be taking place to celebrate peace and positivity in our lives.” Zephyr announced and I nearly facepalmed myself.

Of course, Zephyr would never do anything unless it would benefit him. He had only organized this public apology so that he would throw a party and keep me here longer than I should be but I definitely won’t make it easy for him.

“I’m sorry Alpha but I don’t think that would be necessary. We have to discuss the reason why I’m here so that I can return to my Pack quickly.” I instantly refused my formal tone and Zephyr was visibly surprised.

“Evelyn, you don’t happen to act that way in front of us, we all know that you’re from this Pack.” Zephyr tried to derail me but I won’t give in to this so easily.

“I WAS a member of this Pack, please take note of the past tense. You banished me, remember? So I became a member of another pack and I’m here on official duty. It doesn’t matter that I WAS a member of this pack, I have to do what I came for and return to my Pack quickly. I’m only here to find out how I can help and I would appreciate it if we could get straight to the point and avoid wasting precious time.” I spoke solemnly and I could hear whispers around the room but I didn’t care.

I know what I came here for and partying certainly isn’t part of it.

Zephyr wiped the smile off his face and replaced it with an impassive expression.

“Very well then, you wish to stand as a member of the Kizmet Pack and I respect that but do keep in mind that you are a guest here so you are obligated to respect everything that goes on in this Pack.

I’m the Alpha of this Pack and if I decide that I want to throw a party or celebrate with the members of my Pack, as a guest you should have no objections right?” He questioned and I just glared at me. I hate this man so much.

“You wish to be treated as a guest and thus, you should know your place. You have no right to interfere in the matters concerning this Pack or object to my decision as the Alpha, don’t you agree?” He questioned sheepishly and my hands balled into fists. Curse this evil man.

“Yes, Alpha. I apologise for the attitude, it will not repeat itself ever again.” I forced the words out of my mouth and bit on my bottom l*p in humiliation.

How had I not thought of this? This devious man has succeeded in trapping me in my own plan and now I’ll be forced to see more of his face.

“You don’t have to worry about your time being wasted. After the party, we’ll get straight to business and let you know of the areas in which we need assistance. After that, you can finally return to your pack as you so desire. But as long as you’re in this Pack, you’ll most likely have to play by my rules, just like everyone else. And as the Alpha, I’m inviting you to the party as my special guest. I would be glad if you could grace us with your presence.” He deadpanned, making sure I would have no choice but to come to the party.

That’s a pretty smart move from him, abusing his power as the Alpha and making me do things against my will but what can I expect from someone like Zephyr? At least I know better now, I have to be a lot more careful.

“Of course Alpha, I’ll surely attend the party. In fact I’ll make sure to look my best.” I gushed with a fake smile. I’ve been having to do a lot of this in front of this man and I’m honestly sick of it.

“Good. I would appreciate that. That will be all for today, everyone needs time to prepare for the party especially since it’s on such short notice. Everyone is dismissed.” Zephyr said conclusively and everyone began to take their leave while I practically stormed out.
