“And dinner is officially ruined.” Elsie said with a sigh.

“Some tantrum that was.” Tara said and sighed.

“Kayden you shouldn’t have done that, you shouldn’t have raised your hand to her like that.” Alpha Richard berated.

“I wasn’t planning to but her words just made me so angry that I couldn’t hold back. She shouldn’t have done what she did or spoken to Evelyn like that.” Kayden protested.

“Kayden, I understand your point. I’m also not happy with what she did but you could have handled that more correctly.” Alpha Richard continued to scold and I started feeling bad, not because of what Margallo had said, but because Kayden was being scolded just because of me.

“She’s in the wrong as well and I still think she deserved it. She not only ruined dinner for everyone, but she had the nerve to threaten all of us as well. Do you think that’s acceptable? Do you think that’s right of her?” Kayden continued to argue.

“No, I’ll admit that what she did wasn’t right but still………” Richard opposed and Ana stepped in.

“Richard, leave the boy alone, he did no wrong, he was only protecting and defending a family member.” Ana said.

“We should all consider that she’s used to getting what she wants so she must have just overreacted.” Alpha Richard defended her once more.

“I agree with mum and Kayden, what she did is totally wrong and she deserves what she got but are you really going to defend her, Richard?” Elsie said, her voice registering her hurt.

“No, Elsie. Please don’t say that, you know I’m not defending her. I just want us to maintain a healthy relationship. Margallo is going to become a member of this family soon so I want all of us to try to respect and understand her and I also want her to respect and understand all of us as well, especially Evelyn. But resorting to violence won’t solve anything, it will only spread negative emotions and more contempt so it shouldn’t be repeated, instead we should try to reason with her.” Richard explained.

“But what if she doesn’t want to be reasoned with and is adamant on being a brat. I’m going to let her know that I won’t endure her shit for long.” Kayden vented.

“Enough Kayden, not another word from you. You’re going to apologise to Margallo and that’s the end of it.” Alpha Richard decided.

“I absolutely will not. I’m not apologizing to that spoiled brat after what she did today.” Kayden outright refused.

“Kayden, you know how I hate repeating myself so you should just do as I say and apologize to her.” Richard warned and I placed my hand on Kayden’s shoulder, my eyes pleading with him to do just as Richard had said.

He g*****d before agreeing. “Alright, I’ll apologize to her but it’s just for Evelyn’s sake.” He said defeated and left, probably in the direction of Margallo’s room and it almost felt weird not being with him.

“Everyone can return to their rooms for now, I’ll have the maids whip up something fast and bring it to all our rooms.” Elsie said and Ana walked up to her and hugged her gently.

“You need to give it a rest sweetheart, you’re working too hard. Let me take care of this one while you and Evelyn can go rest and chat instead.” Ana insisted and Elsie was left with no option other than to agree.

Ana went to the kitchen with the maids following behind her, Alpha Richard left for the throne room once more while Elsie and I went to my room.

I feel so happy to get to spend some quality time with her once again. It’s been quite a while since we talked casually because of the poor health she’s been experiencing recently but now, it seems we can finally catch up on stuff.

She’s first to enter the room and I enter after her and close the door. I’m about to join her to sit on the bed when the sudden question she asks stops me in my tracks.

“Is there something going on between you and Kayden?” She questions me and I gulp and look away.

“Evelyn, is there something you’re not telling me?” She asks but is still met by silence. She sighs and stands up, walking up to me and placing a hand on my shoulder.

“You know you can talk to me about anything Evelyn, I’m your sister and I won’t judge you. I’ll only encourage and give you some advice.” She said and I grabbed her in a hug.

She hugged me back while I tried to blink the tears away, I’m in such a terrible dilemma. I’ve been abused all my life and when I finally fall in love and want to finally find happiness, I’ve also discovered I’m unlucky in love as the one I love is fated to another.

I take a deep breath and break from the hug before going for my notebook and pen. I pour out my heart into the sheets, telling Evelyn of how supportive Kayden had been of me the last few months, how I unconsciously fell in love with him and how he also declared his feelings for me, I also today that I wished there was a way that we could be together.

Elsie read it and sighed. “I’m sorry Evelyn but there’s nothing I can do in this situation. Margallo is Kayden’s mate so only he can decide if he wants to mate with her or reject her. It’s absolutely his decision to make.

Personally, I’ve never liked Margallo, she’s way too proud and pretends as if she’s perfect but I’ve had to endure her behavior for the last few years because she’s a princess, she’s Kayden’s mate and she was only staying for a few days but now that she’s moving in with us, everyday is going to hold a totally different fiasco and I don’t know if I’ll be able to endure it.” Elsie said and rubbed her temple.

I placed a hand on her shoulder soothingly.

“You’re a sweet person Evelyn, you deserve all the good things life has to offer and you should never forget that. Challenges are an integral part of life and the goddess doesn’t make us pass through these challenges so she can break or harm us but because she wants us to become stronger. I’ll pray for you Evelyn, I’ll pray that you and Kayden get the happiness you both deserve.” Elsie said and I nodded.

“But here’s for advice, stay away from Margallo for now, she sometimes behaves like an absolute lunatic when she’s angry or jealous. She made an attempt on your baby today and only goddess Selene knows what would have happened if Kayden hadn’t stepped in and caught you in time. I really don’t want her to make any more attempts on you because you probably seem like an easy target to her. So please stay away from Margallo and try to minimize contact with Kayden for now, if he’s truly in love with you then he can do anything, even fight destiny just to be with you. I won’t let him put you in harm’s way any longer by trying to please two women at the same time. Do you understand me?” She questioned and I nodded, it’s probably what’s best for me and my child.

I’m still feeling shaken by what Margallo did a few minutes ago, I bring my hand to my belly and caress it gently, promising my child that I’ll always protect him or her no matter what and as if replying to me, I feel a gentle kick which brings a smile to my face.

“I have to leave now, Richard must be waiting for me. I’ll make sure your food is sent here very soon.” She assured me and I nodded. She took one last look at me before leaving my room.

“I told you Evelyn, it’s safer to stay away from Kayden for now, just until his crazy rabid mate is put on a tight leash.” Tara said and I shook my head. It’s funny how she’s getting less and less polite these days. Well Margallo deserves it anyway.

A few minutes later, a knock comes to my door and the door opens a minute later to reveal Emily coming in with a tray of food.

She drops the tray on the table before coming to sit beside me.

“Are you OK, Evelyn? I witnessed what happened at the dining table earlier and I honestly got so scared for you. Are you sure you’re OK?” She asked with so much care in her voice that it made me smile. It feels so good to know that people actually care about you.

I nod my head affirmatively and she sighs. “Well that’s good to know. Princess Margallo is always an absolute pain in all our necks each time she arrives. She not only bosses people around but apparently loves to see others in pain. I really feel sorry for prince Kayden, he’s such a nice person and yet he’s unfortunately mated to a she devil. But I feel more sorry for all the pack workers, most especially the maids, which includes me, now that Princess Margallo is here to stay, she’ll make our lives hell. I might consider resigning if that actually happens. Anyways, I’m just glad that you’re alright. Enough of my babbling now, please eat your food. Luna Elsie has specifically instructed that I make sure that you eat properly.” Emily said and brought the food closer to me.

Emily has become a very dear friend to me and I would hate it if I couldn’t get to see her anytime I want because of Margallo.

“Don’t worry Evelyn, we’ll think of something.” Tara assured me and I tried to keep faith but I couldn’t help but feel helpless.

The turn out of things had made me lose my appetite but I knew I had to eat because of the little one growing inside of me.

Everything had been going on so perfectly well before this Margallo girl showed up, she seems to have a penchant for ruining things.

First, she stole Kayden who is my first and probably last chance at love. And if this continues, Emily will leave as well. I eat until I can’t eat anymore before pushing the food away. Emily doesn’t argue because I’d already eaten a good quantity.

“Please get some rest. If you need anything just let me know, I’ll be close by.” She said and took the tray and left.

I take a deep breath and lie in bed with a little difficulty. It’ll be wise to follow Elsie’s advice, staying away from Kayden for now will be the safest option for me and my child. Though it will be difficult as I’ve gotten quite attached to him, I’ll still try my best. I can only hope and pray that things will get better somehow.
