Episode 47

“That freaking bastard, I am going to kill him when I get my hands on him,” Mason thinks to himself. Thinking back on what Jade had told them a half-hour ago.

We had all gone out to dinner after we left the marina and then came home and got our showers. We knew Jade had been upset when we left the Sandbar, but we all mistakenly thought that it was due to her old pack and the fight that had broken out on the beach. We were wrong. I had seen Asher slow dancing with Ashley when we left the Sandbar, and he had seen all three of us looking at them as they were dancing on their boat, and then he allowed that slut to k**s him in front Jade.

We were sitting around the fire pit because Jade said she would feel more comfortable talking to us in the dark, so we built the fire for warmth, as we waited for her to tell us what she had been holding in. She is so strong, and she looked so sad when she finally started speaking. She had us all in tears by the end because we could feel her pain.

“So, I found my second chance mate today” Jade begins speaking in a low tone.

“Who is it?” Tyler asks carefully and we all wait on her answer.

“It’s Asher” Jade replies.

“Asher my brother?” Dixon asks.

“Yes, unfortunately,” Jade answers.

“s**t,” Bree says.

“Yea” I reply.

“So, Asher is your second chance mate? Are you positive?” Mason says slowly.

“Yes, I am positive. I smelled his scent briefly when we got back from Howling Wolf yesterday. I thought for a minute that it could be Mason, as I was clear from my bond with Calvin, but the scent went away, and Mason was still there”. I say to the group and look over at Mason blushing.

“I bet that was why he acted so strange and then took off,” Braxton said.

“Yea, so he knew yesterday that you were mates, and he didn’t approach her, or try to meet her. What the hell is wrong with him?” Dixon says.

“No, he knew for longer,” I say to them. “My wolf, Ivory, said that he knew 5 weeks ago when he visited here the last time. She smelled him in our room when we got back from visiting Dark Moon. She pointed that out to me today. She said she smelled his scent in our room when we had come back from our first visit to Dark Moon but didn’t know who he was. She was waiting to find out and then let me know who our second chance mate was, but since he doesn’t live at the pack and didn’t come back until yesterday, we didn’t know who it was.” I tell them.

“That son of a b***h!” Jessica yells. Then quickly “I don’t mean your mom” as she looks over at Dixon and Bree, “Your mom is awesome, it is just a phrase, but what a son-of-a-bitch”.

Bree and Dixon nod in agreement, “Yea, he is” Dixon says.

“Wasn’t he on that boat near us dancing with some girl?” Tyler asks.

“Yes, he was,” Mason said.

“Yea, her name is Ashley, and she is one of the pack sluts that he messed around with. He had told her that if he didn’t find his mate, he would let her be his chosen Luna. She is the one who gives Jade the problems at the pack, and her younger sister Brittany and her goons give Jade problems at school. Asher was told to leave her alone and to look for his true mate. Obviously, he didn’t want to do that.” Bree tells them.

“Am I so horrible, that my Goddess-given mates are just selfish man-whores. Do I not deserve to be loved? He let her k**s him, right in front of me like I didn’t even matter” Jade says and then sighs.

“No honey, you are wonderful and deserve to be happy Jade,” Nicole says to me.

“I love you, but it is more like a brotherly love Jade,” Brax tells me.

“I would totally date you beautiful, except Tyler would kill me”. Travis said as he glances over at Tyler and smiles before continuing, “I think you are absolutely gorgeous, both inside and out. If I had been your second chance mate, I would have stepped up and claimed you immediately. You are a great girl, and you deserve a great love to go along with it.” Travis tells me and smiles over at me.

“I wish I had been your second chance mate too Jade. You are one of my favorite people and you have been through too much already. I wish the Goddess had done me that favor, but she gave you to Asher. There has to be a reason for that. Maybe that is why I feel strongly towards you, as the Beta I am supposed to be close to and protect the Luna. I will speak to him and get him straightened out, but it did look like he was sad when we left. Ashley pulled his head down while he was distracted looking at you, he didn’t actually k**s her. We should wait and let him speak to you tomorrow and see what he has to say for himself. I am not excusing his behavior, but he did look sad when you left. Maybe you are what he needs to change back into the Asher that we knew. He has completely changed from when he left our pack until now. I know his parents, and his siblings are both worried about him as well. He has become an uncaring a*****e and he needs someone wonderful like you to set him straight and help him run the pack.

“Why didn’t he stop last night to speak to me? If he cared so much, why did he bring that lying slut with him? I don’t know yet if I can forgive him. Each one of you knows what I have been through these last few months. How my mate decided I wasn’t worth it and rejected me. I am thankful for all I went through because it brought me to all of you, but he has to know my background as well, why wouldn’t he have sought me out? Came back the next weekend to meet me? There has to be a reason for that.” I say to the group.

I see Mason and Braxton look at each other and I know that they know something.

“What? What is the problem?” I ask them.

“I don’t really want to say, I think he was just talking a bunch of crap because he was upset and intoxicated, so I really don’t want to say anything, because he needs to be here to be able to defend himself”. Braxton tells me.

“Just say it, I already knew he didn’t want to claim me for the last month and a half for whatever reason, just go ahead and say it, Braxton,” I tell him.

“Well, he was upset because Dixon was mad at him over you and so was Bree over the stuff from the school concerning you, and then she said if she had to, she would beat Ashley up on your behalf. He was jealous because they both defended you and took your side in it and he didn’t feel like he had done anything wrong, he felt like you had lied, and not Ashley, because he didn’t know you or your character. Then when we got upset with him after you had been brought back up in conversation, we defended you as well, and he was a little rude about you being overweight because he was so jealous of all the important people in his life taking your side. He had been drinking because he was sad, jealous, and upset. And we have all said things when we were upset that we may not mean later on. He didn’t even know you and wasn’t here for the incident to know who was telling the truth.” Braxton says.

I hear Tyler and Tate start to growl. Hell, I want to growl too. I know he is trying to whitewash it because Asher is his friend too and he doesn’t want me to be upset, but I am suddenly angry. He didn’t want me because I was fat. Maybe I don’t want him because he sleeps around. I really don’t want an STD the first time out of the gate.
