The hole in the wall rippled some more under Lacy’s touch… scaring the s**t out of the girl who all this while had her heart in her mouth.

She jumped back in fear, seriously contemplating going to call someone for help, but then the grey like rippling surface suddenly began to turn clear, and then Lacy’s own image stared right back at her.

What in the bloody Hollywood Blockbuster movie was going on?

It was a mirror?

B—But wha—h—how?

Lacy couldn’t even begin to formulate the words to ask all the million questions on her mind.

This was crazy, right?

Was it all real or was it just a figment of her imagination?

She couldn’t even tell.

Just as quickly as her image had appeared in the magic mirror, (what else could she call it?) it began to clear, another image beginning to form inside it.

Lacy saw a dresser, then a huge king-sized bed, then dark aesthetics… everything in the room letting her know that she was staring right at a man’s sleeping space.

But who exactly?

That question was answered soon enough, for the door to the impressive room opened suddenly and then a man entered, heading right over to the bed and collapsing right on it with a g***n.

Alrik Hunter?

At first, Lacy was super doubtful, and so she stepped closer to the weird mirror for a closer look.

It was him alright, clad in loose faded blue jeans and a less famous basketball jersey top.

Lacy watched, mesmerized as he lay there for some time. A few minutes later, he turned on his side to reach into the drawer by his bedside for something. It seemed to be a container of sorts…

Right, it was lotion.

What was he going—

OH GOD!

Lacy had barely thought the question when he reached for his belt buckle and began to open it, tugging them down until his boxers were on display, his c**k hard and standing at attention in them, the realization of what he was about to do causing her to shut her eyes tight even as she let out a scream of horror.

By the time she risked opening her eyes, the mirror like hole was filled with her own image once more, a sigh of relief escaping her lips at the comforting observation.

He didn’t lie about his height though.

And he certainly seemed just as handsome as his pictures. The thought made Lacy smile for a little bit, and then just as quickly, a frown replaced it.

Of all the people the mirror could have displayed, why did it have to be him?

How had that happened?

She had screamed right before the image had vanished. Had he heard her?

Had he seen her?

Was it something he was doing right now, or what her mind thought he’d be doing?

f**k, she felt like the biggest creep in the world barging in on his private moment like that, and you want to know the funny thing?

She didn’t even know whether she should be disgusted or understanding of the situation.

So, what if he wanted to get some s****l relief?

That was normal?

People did that all the time.

Heck, even she had done the same thing a few times too, it felt like she shouldn’t really berate him for it, especially when she had for some reason been granted a first-class seat to the private show by some weird mirror that had just appeared in her room out of nowhere.

The strange mirror started to ripple again all of a sudden, and then her reflection disappeared and she could see trees and shrubs and weird thorns.

She recognized the place!

She had trekked through those same woods with Ash, but this time something about it was different. It looked even more scary than she remembered… and then as if that was not enough, she suddenly heard a voice call out her name.

The voice, so deep, and so dark and menacing, whispered her name the second time, along with the words, “I need you…. you belong to me… We. Are. One.”

This time, her fear charged her right into action, causing her to flee the room like her a*s was on fire, shouting and screaming for help.

About four of the servants rushed to her aid, completely terrified, for they had been strictly warned by their bosses to keep an eye out on their last child with the memory loss.

The thought of something being wrong with her was enough to set them in motion, because their jobs, and their lives by extension were on the line. “Miss. Are you alright?” The question was almost a chorus as all of them asked a frantic Lacy, subtly checking her for any injuries.

“There’s… there’s something weird in my room… I really can’t explain it, y’all need to come have a look now!”

She dashed into the room, all four of them hot on her heels, but when they got there,

There was nothing.

No hole,

No mirror…

Nothing!

“No. It—It was on the wall… right there—” She pointed at the wall, “There was a hole and it began to ripple, and then it became a mirror, and I could see images… I—I heard a voice…” She trailed off at the sympathetic looks on their face, slightly getting angry that they didn’t believe her, “Look guys, I know the tale I’m telling you seems far-fetched… but I know what I saw, I’m not crazy.”

“Let us get you into bed, Miss…” One of them held her gently, taking her right to her bed.

Lacy didn’t fight it.

In that moment, she knew that fighting them would just count off as being aggressive, a factor that would just cement their notion that she was losing her mind.

She couldn’t have that.

*******

He had f****d up.

Reed knew that now.

Well, as a matter of fact, he had known since he let her go, but it was fully resonating in his bullheaded brain now.

Letting her go was the biggest mistake that he had ever committed.

And so, he had decided.

He was going to get her back.

It had taken him a few days to completely be okay with it, but there was no stopping him now.

It didn’t matter that she may have forgotten who he really was to her. It didn’t matter if she had probably moved on and was settling in distinctively well in the human world…

Heck, it didn’t even matter that venturing into the human world meant putting his entire Clan in danger.

He did care about them, but he had finally gotten to that point where his mate came before anybody and anything else.

Which i***t got something as good, and as kind and as beautiful as what he could have had with Lacy and let it go?

Him, apparently.

He was such a fool.

But at least he saw the error in his ways now.

He only hoped to the Moon Goddess that it wasn’t too late.

With that thought in mind, the Alpha King stood up from his chair and walked out of the study. He opened the door to the main wing, and was surprised to see Rieka standing behind it, frozen with her left hand drawn in a weak fist, “I was just about to knock,” She smiled softly at him.

f**k, Reika.

He was going to have to hurt her too.

In that instant, he cursed his decision to still stay betrothed to her.

The Gamma General had seen it beforehand, and had respectfully wanted to bow out of it, but he had talked her into still being with him, and now, he was going to have to let her down for the second time. “Reika, I—I have to talk to you.” He said, “I have to talk to you too, Reed.” She shifted on her foot nervously, “I actually won’t be long, so lemme go first before I lose whatever courage brought me here.”

“By all means,” He shifted to the side to let her in, and when she entered, she got right into it, not even bothering to take a seat. “I don’t think I can marry you, Reed. I really don’t think I want to anymore.”

Wait, what?

“What?” Alpha King Reed Alderon Winchester was one who was seldom surprised, and this one had totally knocked his socks off. She didn’t want to marry him anymore? “Why?”

“It doesn’t feel right anymore, Reed.” Rieka admitted softly, her eyes shining with love and sadness, “Look, I love you… I probably always would… but what you have with Lacy is fated, Reed… and give it a year, two, a billion… it would still go round and come back to draw you two together. There’s no way I can come between something like that, you know?”

Reed was speechless.

He couldn’t say anything, and so he did the next best thing. He pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her in a hug.

This hug was comforting, like what one would receive from a brother, or a close friend, and Rieka closed her eyes and relished in it, knowing very well that it was going to be the last close contact she was ever going to share with the man she had always loved.

You know, she had had doubts about coming here and calling it quits like that, because for a very long time, being with Reed and becoming Luna Queen had been the only goals she had had, now, without them, it almost felt like she was lost… like she was without purpose, but she really hadn’t lied about not wanting to come between fated love. It just felt like begging to be cursed, and she would rather do without it.

When the door had opened and she had seen the serious look on his face, she had known instantly in her heart that she had made the right decision.

It was truly over between them now.

“I only ask that you send me out on a quest, Reed… so that I can use that time to do my best to forget about you.” She placed her second request before him.

The Alpha King nodded gracefully, “I will do just that Rieka, but I have one favor as well from you.”

“What is it, Your Eminence?” Now that she didn’t have that personal relationship with him, it felt weirdly wrong calling him on a first name basis.

“Stay with your brother, and rule over my people in the space that I am gone, and when I get back, you can go wherever you please.”

“Gone? Where are you going?” She asked, confused.

“Yes, gone, Rieka.” He confirmed with a proud smirk, “I am going to get my mate back. I’m going into the human world to bring Lacy home.” He told her, a determined look in his eyes.
