Rejected, Then Reborn -
Chapter 7
F*****g annoying prick!
Lacy was pissed off beyond measure, a lot of pent up anger and frustration coming off all as one once more, this time targeted towards the handsome daredevil.
She already hated him!
Okay that wasn’t exactly true, given that she wanted so badly to feel his lips on hers as well, given that she wanted to feel his touch, given that she craved his presence desperately even when he was being annoying as f**k. But all of those emotions were not what was dominant in that moment, for all she wanted to do was badly wring that pretty neck of his… the nerve, and the cheek of it all for him to tell her she couldn’t leave, when he had in not so many words rejected the connection the Moon Goddess had wired between them.
She was locked.
Locked for crying out loud in the extremely ostentatious room, filled with everything to guarantee that one wouldn’t even want to get out, but it didn’t matter, because she was locked in against her will, and that alone was enough to make it seem as though she was still locked up in the dungeons. She was a prisoner, living a comfortable life now, but still a prisoner nonetheless.
Want to know what made her even more pissed off at him? The fact that he had dismissed his own sister like that, especially when they were having such an interesting conversation. One would think that he’d allow her return after he was done seeing her, but no. The selfish bastard had sent her away, leaving Lacy all by herself once more.
She really needed to escape.

“So who exactly is she?” Dr. Xavier Mendoza asked his best friend as they sat lounging in the Alpha King’s study, sharing a bottle of super expensive whiskey.
“Lacy Smith. The former wife of that bastard, Lucius Smith.” Reed answered casually, too focused on his drink to see the unbelievable look on his friend’s face.
“No way…” Xavier murmured, unable to believe his ears, “B—but, she’s supposed to be dead.”
“Well, you saw her, she’s far from dead, is she not?” Reed teased his friend, but Xavier would have none of it, “Naah, man… this does not even make sense. You seem so relaxed about this… aren’t you suspecting foul play? Because this seems like a whole lot.”
“It seems like a whole lot? Well you haven’t heard all of it then.” Reed smirked. Here’s the part that gets interesting, Xavier. She claims to have died and risen again, reborn on the same day she had stumbled into the dark woods… only that this time, instead of being found by her husband, I found her instead. Get this, she has been living this over and over again, but the Moon Goddess intervened this time hence the reason why her destiny had been rewritten and she was sent here instead.”
The chief healer just sat there, stupefied… “Okay, pour me another drink, this s**t’s just f*****g crazy.” He murmured, looking up at his friend who for some reason was taking his sweet time getting that drink to come around. There was this suspicious look in his blue eyes. “Wait, there’s more.” He looked at the Alpha King incredulously, “Wait, there’s more?”
“She says I’m her fated mate…” Reed trailed off, bursting into laughter as his friend ran a hand across his bald head theatrically. He had always told the huge hunk that he had missed his calling, choosing medicine over theater arts, but it was all good… seeing as he had saved countless lives in his new field.
“Well, f**k me sideways! But that’s not possible?” He exclaimed, reaching for the drink himself and taking a huge gulp straight from the bottle and groaning when the strong drink passed down his throat, “So… you believe her?”
“I don’t know.” Reed answered honestly, “It doesn’t make sense, and yet, a little part of me thinks she’s telling the truth. But the facts are all against her man, and Lykens don’t get mates, so I don’t know what to believe.” He sighed deeply, “Look, you’re the doctor here, man… could it be that she’s having some kind of mental illness? You know, feeling things she shouldn’t feel? Trying to make up for everything she’s lost? Lucius is remarried now, and I can only imagine what she went through at their hands. She says she wants to go back to her human family,”
“Then let her, why are you still holding her hostage, man?”
Reed didn’t answer, taking another gulp of his drink. Thing was, even if he wanted to answer, he had no idea what to say to that.
What was he going to tell his friend?
That he liked that some woman was delusional enough to want a man as dark as him for a mate?
That he was experiencing some nouvelle feelings that he wanted to explore some more?
That he wanted to get back at Smith, and that perhaps his ex-wife was the perfect way to exact his revenge?
Because they were all true.
But Reed did not want Xavier to see how far gone he was… his friend had been by his side for some of his darkest times, and though he was trying his best to become a better man, he was still far from perfect. He was working on it though, and Xavier knew that… and so for him to hear that he was going to use an innocent girl like that would just destroy all the progress he was making in the eyes of his friend. Reed didn’t want that.
“Aren’t you going to say anything, Reed?”
Reed shot him a look, “All I can say is that she knows too much about us, and that sending her out there would be too dangerous for our clan.” He finished vaguely.
“I’m not sure—”
“I tell you this as your King, Xavi… not as your friend,” He cut the doctor off sharply, noting how his friend quickly took on a formal stance, “I’m sorry, Your Eminence,” The atmosphere became tense after that, but just as quickly, it disappeared. It was one of the things the Alpha king liked about his friend— how no matter what, their friendship was always capable of overlooking rank and title, but in the times that those needed to work, they worked just as efficiently too. The two friends drank and laughed and talked among themselves, enjoying the little time they had to let go for a little bit.
It was almost midnight when the Alpha King stumbled up the grand staircase of the castle, drunk out of his mind as he softly murmured Queen’s ‘We will rock you’ under his breath. Lykens never got drunk… not even if they added wolfsbane to their strongest mixes. Their secret ingredient was surprisingly… Silver. A sizeable pinch of the element, and one could easily get a good buzz going. Judging by the way the King was hammered out of his mind, it wasn’t that hard to note that he had gone a bit overboard.
One would question if that was a sensible thing to do, especially when one had great responsibility like Reed did, but he wasn’t exactly defenseless after all. He had Ace, his beastly half… and everyone who was everyone knew that coming across the Alpha King when he was not in control was just begging for trouble, and so everyone avoided him, but there had been instances where people had tried to seize the opportunity, simply put… they had not lived to tell the story.
Reed stopped at the crossroads of the staircase, torn between heading for his chambers, or going to see the girl. He didn’t really want to, or maybe he did… just a little, and so in the end, going to see her won out. The Alpha King struggled for a bit, but he managed to find the key, and opened the door to the room that housed his prisoner. There she stood at the entrance, looking enthralling as hell in a fuzzy bathrobe, her green eyes glaring daggers into his soul. “Why would you lock me in without telling me anything?”
Some nerve this girl had.
“In case you’ve forgotten, you are my prisoner, and I owe you no exasplanation. Know your place… hu—hooman!”
Exasplanation?
Lacy face palmed in frustration. When she had heard the key turn in the lock, her heart had filled with hope, because she thought she could have talked some sense into the king… you know, make him see reason somehow, but the handsome bastard was drunk out of his f*****g mind. “Well,” She said resignedly, “What do you want?”
“I never told you the role you would be fulfilling in your stay here.” He started, leaning against the doorpost tiredly— you know that sexy pose all the hot guys did in the movies when they didn’t want to leave the heroine? Yeah, that one. “You, Lacy Reynolds will be my s*x slave. Your only role in this castle will be to fulfill my every s****l desire, wherever and whenever I require your services.”
For a while, Lacy was lost in his striking blue eyes, but his words slowly registered in her head, causing her to burst into laughter.
It was the alcohol talking right?
It certainly had to be. The Alpha King could barely stand upright for crying out loud… there was absolutely no doubt that his mind might have jumbled up too, causing him to spew nonsense.
Even though he looked dashing and handsome as f**k in his drunken state, the human girl found that the hatred for her living conditions actually made it way easier to loathe him.
“We should get you to sleep, Your Eminence… you’ve obviously had enough for today.” She made to try and touch him, but she hesitated. Despite his drunken state, the man looked intimidating as hell— he could easily snap her in two if he so desired, and so she stood back.
“You’re not saying anything concerning all I said, I assume you’re okay with our arrangement?”
“Make no mistake sir,” Lacy quickly interjected, “I find that I have to clarify things even in the state you’re in. I will not, and I will never be, your s*x slave.” She declared proudly.
“Only one alternative remains then, Miss Reynolds. Death.” The Lyken King put his hand in his overcoat and pulled out an envelope, “This is the drawn up contract, Lacy… so if you think I’m joking because of my drunken stupor, then think again.” He thrust the document at her, and Lacy tentatively took it, opening the envelope and flipping through the documents it contained.
He wasn’t lying.
Lacy started heaving, a wave of paranoia attacking her.
No.
This couldn’t be.
She wasn’t going to let it happen, she wasn’t going to be reduced to this!
Overcome by a violent surge of rage, Lacy angrily tore the documents and threw them in his face, a hot searing slap landing on his cheek right after that, a low growl escaping the Alpha King even as the loudness of the smack filled the huge room.
Her hand flew to her mouth when she realised the horror of her actions. She had taken things way too far.
