“WAKE UP HUMAN!”

Lacy woke up with a start at the loud words, her fuzzy brain desperately trying to make sense of what was happening. Morning light already flitted into the dark cell, seeping in, courtesy of the tiny little cracks on the heavily bolted window way up behind her, the brilliant light shining on the owner of the voice that had roused her from her slumber.

His royal Eminence… Reed Alderon Winchester.

“Had a rough night?” He asked, a blank look on his face as he watched her scramble to her feet and stretch, a few bones cracking at the action. Lacy glared at him, before quickly masking it, the kind man who had saved her last night, Dr. Xavier Mendoza’s words ringing loud in her ears.

Fighting back wasn’t going to get her home, she needed to be docile and compliant.

Easy, right?

Well, wrong.

All Lacy’s life, she had been spoiled rotten, taught that she had the whole world at her feet, ready to do her every bidding if she so much as commanded it. Born into old money— her father a senator, her mother a Supreme Court judge, the human girl had been given everything she wanted.

It was a wonder she wasn’t a completely spoilt brat even, though she did have those days if she was completely being honest.

The thing was, for as long as Lacy can remember, she had always wanted to be independent… to make a name for herself that was not in any way influenced by her family name or her parent’s connections and influence. Really, it was why she had chosen to become a nurse in the first place. She would have actually loved to be a doctor, but learning Medicine would have taken too much time, and Nursing School had just been about half the years required to go through Medical School… plus, with a Nursing License, she could do everything doctors did just the same, which was kind of the whole point in the first place… because in the end, helping people was the ultimate goal, and Lacy was doing just that in her chosen field. But back to Lacy and suffering… even when she had stumbled into the fantasy world, one would have thought that that would be the start of her hardships, for surely, no one knew who she was or even cared to find out how important she actually was… but surprisingly, an Alpha had fallen in love with her—or scratch that— had claimed to be in love with her, and she had jumped right from almost being a slave to instantly becoming a Luna.

See where I’m going with all this?

This was the first time Lacy had been reduced to such a humiliating state, and she was finding dealing with it a little too rough for her liking.

“Have you thought about the proposition I made to you last night?” The Alpha King jumped right into the matter at hand, finding that he badly wanted to know her decision.

Oh Lacy had… it had been all she could think of all night, and honestly speaking, she had a million places she actually wanted to tell him to shove it.

But she glanced at the screeded floors instead, playing the part of the obedient submissive quite perfectly. “C—can I please have a bath first, and s—some food before we talk about all of this, please?”

“Very well.” He nodded gracefully, signaling for the guards that had come in with him to open her up.

Wait, guards?

Why hadn’t she seen them earlier?

Could it be because she had been so fixated on how dashing their king looked all dressed up in formal wear? It was the first time she was seeing him in a suit after all, and she had to admit, he looked rather dashing in the brilliant white ensemble, a sharp contrast to his jet black curls that surprisingly worked for him. Or could it be that she had been lost staring at his striking blue eyes? They were like captivating whirlpools, always seeming to completely drown her in their depth.

Lacy trailed after the Alpha King, her gaze stuck on his impressive frame, the guards right after her heels as she rubbed sleep out of her eyes and stared. At that point, she wasn’t sure she was going to be surprised if she came to find out that he run some kind of mafia in addition to being Lyken, because he seemed to play the role distinctively well. Lacy hadn’t had the best sleep, and all her body parts hurt like hell, but somehow she felt quite refreshed. Perhaps it was because her brain was concocting some wonderful plan to get her out of this hell hole. Whatever that plan was though, it had most certainly not been communicated with her just yet, but she was pretty sure that something was in the pipeline.

It was not long before the guards left them all alone, branching out to do their other many tasks. Everyone knew that the guards were but mere protocol to show that the Alpha King was a distinguished person and not because he actually needed protection, for most of the time Reed walked alone.

Reed took her to the same room she had been in the day before, immediately getting cozy in one of the armchairs in the room, “Go and have that bath now,” He ordered arrogantly as he threw off his sunglasses, his overcoat lying on his laps, “By the time you’re done, your breakfast will be served.”

Lacy stared at him as though he had slapped her. He wasn’t going to leave her to it? “Can you— can you please uhm, excuse me while I get ready? A little privacy would be nice,” She desperately wanted to cross her arms, but that would come off as disrespectful, and the last thing she wanted to do was be that, lest she upset the King, and strike up another confrontation with his beastly half again… and so she settled for putting her hands behind her… ever the submissive slave. It didn’t matter that she was flipping him the bird secretly, so long as he couldn’t see that, they were all good.

“Privacy?” The Lyken scoffed, snapping Lacy out of her musings, an amused smirk on his face as he stared her down, “What privacy, Love? We’d best get familiar with our roles, especially if you want to live. So here’s what you’ll do… you’ll go have that bath like the good girl I know you are and come and dress here. In front of me.”

Lacy felt her panties dampen.

Was it the good girl part or the heated look in his eyes as he checked her out? Or was it the way his already deep voice had taken on an even more deeper timbre? Lacy didn’t know which exactly it was, but it seemed to be doing it for her lady parts. Lord, she was just in a t-shirt and shorts sans a bra, she only hoped that her n*****s hadn’t puckered to attention, reporting how much of an effect he was having on her. It was the last thing she wanted… or needed actually, given the weirdness of their situationship. As a matter of fact, Lacy so wanted to desperately cover her ample bosom with her hands, but f**k it… she wasn’t going to give him that satisfaction.

Alpha King Reed observed the girl in amusement. Why did riling her up excite him so? Oh, he was excited alright, the evidence much prominent in his pants, but that was actually not the kind of excitement he was talking about. It was just that it gave him this inexplicable joy seeing her cross with him. It made working harder to get that frown off her beautiful face an interesting challenge to look forward to, for he always felt super accomplished when he got her back to being defiant instead of scared. It was the only time she was okay enough to let a few smiles seep through to her face, and while he wanted her to smile out of happiness, he hadn’t gotten there yet, and so he’d just be content with what he got.

“I still haven’t agreed to anything yet, your Eminence,” The girl reminded him, bringing his attention back to her, “I could very well decide to choose death after I return from the bathroom, so you can’t just order me around based on another choice when I haven’t agreed to said choice yet,” She said, green eyes shining again with that light of pride.

“I could order you actually,” Reed casually reminded her, “Even though I won’t. You want to know why? Because I want you willingly agreeing to all my terms and conditions. I won’t force you to choose between life and death, though I would be glad if you chose life, but in no way am I going to make that decision for you,” He said casually, seizing the opportunity to check her out from head to toe. “Plus, looking at you,” He licked his lips which had suddenly become dry all of a sudden, “I can just tell, for you don’t strike me as the type who would choose death. You’ve got so much fire in you that I doubt your spirit would let you go down that easily.”

He wasn’t lying. Lacy had barely known the man two days, and he already seemed to have totally figured her out. She liked to think that she was a bit more mysterious than that.

Reed stared at her, wondering what was going on in that lovely head of hers.

She was affected by him.

This was in no way a one-sided thing. She was feeling it too… that s****l tension between them. It was obvious in the way her shoulders moved up and down as she heaved, her eyes hazy and filled with so much want. He was no different. Every single whisper that came out of his mouth was unintentionally charged with s*x and promise… gods, he wanted to take her right there and then, and so bad… but he needed to let her get that mateship nonsense out her head first. Even if it were true like she claimed, he just did not roll that way. He liked spontaneous, non-committal relationships that had absolutely no strings attached to it… ones that had nothing to do with emotions and all that fate nonsense. There was no moving forward until she had gotten that completely.

They were simply put, going to be f**k buddies, plain and simple… hopefully, the contract got her to understand that. He had brought a new set with him, and he was going to make her look at it after she had taken that bath.
