Chapter 104

Gabi’s POV

B***d Rose pack

We are about 15 minutes away when I felt a link pressing in my head. I go ahead and answered it quickly as I have been worried about Sloan for the two days that we have been gone, and I hope it is not bad news.

“Mom?” I heard Dawson’s voice, and he is strained.

“What is it? Is there a problem?” I linked back.

“Yes, and no. We are OK right now, we are about to leave the pack hospital now” Dawson said and before he can finish saying hospital, I interrupt him.

“Is Sloan, OK?” I asked quickly, fear rising in my throat. How did they get to her? I lean forward to tell Tanner to drive faster when Dawson comes back quickly.

“She is fine mom, I am just concerned about what the plan was, as things have changed now. I don’t want Sloan to have to ingest anything. Will it be enough to film them, catch them in the act with whatever they are going to use?” Dawson said to me.

“She did get the protection spell, right? Isn’t that supposed to work, to protect her? Did Vincent find out it won’t work? If it isn’t guaranteed to keep her safe, we don’t need to do it. I won’t risk Sloan, we can figure something else out. I can text Teresa and ask, she will know. She is in the vehicle behind us, she was going to study on the way there. Give me a second.” I linked back to him as I was typing out the question to Teresa.

“Thanks, mom, I just can’t take the risk. Vincent didn’t say that it wasn’t going to work, but it was done before we had all the information we needed” Dawson linked me.

I am still waiting on Teresa’s reply, and linked him back, “What information?” as I stared at my screen waiting for it to show her response.

“That I am going to be a daddy” Dawson promptly responds, and it took me two beats to realize what he said before I started crying. Yes, this completely changes everything. I don’t even want her around those vicious girls ever again. I sniff even though I am trying to stay quiet as my nose is about to run as I am so emotional. I don’t know how I managed to keep from screaming out in my joy at hearing this. Tanner is looking at me from the rearview mirror and he slows down in concern. I don’t really cry, and he has seen me cry only a few times. So, he knows something big has happened. Heath turned around towards me and handed me a pack of tissues from the glove box. Percy puts his hand on my shoulder and said, “Mom?” I tried to tell them I was OK, but when I opened my mouth, I just took a shuddering breath and could only make a sobbing sound, as I was so emotional. Tanner slows down to pull over to check on me, and I managed to get out, “No, don’t stop, we need to get to B***d Rose” he accelerated, and we move forward quicker than we had been going, as he knows that we need to get there now.

I heard my phone ping and Teresa said, that having a video, would work fine and that if we could get witnesses set up to witness it, that would be best. The best part was that Teresa said that Sloan did not have to ingest it, that her just being given it, would be enough. That showed intent and premeditation on their part. I thanked her and then told her that they needed to go in there first, unannounced and that we would be about 5 minutes behind them. That way when we arrived they would just see us, and not Council Members, or the Alpha King, which may make them change their mind about their vicious plans. I don’t want them to change their mind, I want them tried for trying to kill the future Luna and my grandchild. I am furious now, and I am about to make a change of plans on our end too. I thanked Teresa and then started thinking about what we needed to do.

As Teresa tells the men in her vehicle what I just told her, I linked Dawson back, “I love you both so much and I am so happy for you. Let us keep it to just the immediate family that knows for right now. She does NOT have to ingest it. She only has to be given it, for this to work. So she can just take it in her hand and then set it on the table. We are changing up the plans. You need to get your uncle Gavin and meet the Council Members, Alpha King, and his security team and get them to the Office without anyone recognizing them. They will be there in about 8 minutes. Let the guards at the gate let them in without stopping to see who is inside the SUV. Wait, we will stop and let Heath get into their SUV and tell them that it is Heath and his men. I don’t want to take the chance of anyone finding out that they are there. We will be 5 minutes behind them, so you can get everyone to exit the packhouse to come out front while you and Gavin take them into the packhouse by using the back stairwell. It is normal for the pack to all come out to welcome us back. You can say that it is mandatory this time, to greet their new pack members that are arriving with us. Is it OK if I tell them the good news? I am with your dad, Heath, Percy, and Peyton right now” I linked him back. I can still feel the tears running down my face, I am so happy. I cannot wait to hold that pup in my arms and love on them. I don’t care if it is a boy or a girl. I am just so happy to hear this.

“Sure, you can tell them. We wanted you to know before you got here. I just couldn’t take the risk of something bad happening to the baby if she had to drink it. We just don’t know if it could result in something bad happening, or any potential side effects. I just couldn’t take a chance and endanger my baby’s life. So, I knew that we would need a new plan as the possibility of harm coming to either of them is just too great of a chance for me to take” Dawson linked me back and I completely agreed with him.

I will not risk her life, or my grandbaby’s life in this either. I text Teresa back and all of our SUVs pull over to make seating changes for Heath to sit up front so they will go straight in. They know him, and then they can go right through the gate without having to stop, or take the risk of anyone else having to be seen. Anna and her friends are notorious for going through the men in the pack. As long as they stuck with just the unmated wolves, I couldn’t stop them, it was their decision to make. But I knew they had relationships with the warriors and gate guards. I cannot take the chance on someone seeing the Council members, or the Alpha King. I didn’t want that to happen. We need to get this all done today.

Then I can focus on getting the weddings planned, and the Alpha and Luna ceremony planned after that. I am so happy right now, I almost want to scream out the good news to everyone, but I know that we can’t do that right now. We need to keep this contained, and then after everything is done, we can call a town hall meeting to announce the good news to the pack. I told Heath the good news as he was changing vehicles because he wouldn’t be getting to hear it from me unless I did it now before we get to the pack. He wouldn’t be in our SUV when I announced it. He did not seem surprised, and when I frowned in confusion at him, he said, “Only family has made you cry as far as I have known you, Gabo. So, I knew it had to be something big. Since Percy and Peyton were with us and acting normally, I knew it had to either be Dawson and Sloan, or Elena, that made you cry. I am so happy for them, I imagine that Percy and Peyton will be right behind them. I am looking forward to seeing all my great grand pups. I will link Von to tell her. She will probably start shopping today. You will have to call her after we get this all dealt with.” Heath turned and got in the SUV with a smile on his face, I know that he is happy about this too.

I got in the seat that Heath had vacated and we waited on the side of the road to let the Council members head off first. I reached over to squeeze Tanner’s hand. I cannot stop the smile that spreads across my face, and I am almost bouncing in excitement while we wait a few minutes before we head off too. I have to tell him now, as I don’t want him to jerk the steering wheel in surprise when I tell him. He looks at me almost shaking with excitement, and said, “OK, what is going on? I know it is big, so just tell us.”

“We are going to be grandparents, Tanner!” I yell out in my excitement, and he was as surprised as I was before he started tearing up too. I knew it would get him. He was such a good father, and I know that he was excited for the boys to find their mates. I knew that he was looking forward to the day that we became grandparents as much as I had. I hope Heath is right, as I would love Peyton to be pregnant too, so their grandbabies can all grow up together, but I won’t push it. I am not going to say anything, because it is always when they want to do it. I will not rush them. They just found each other and mated. If it is supposed to happen it will. I already have a grandbaby on the way now, I can wait for Percy and Peyton to decide if they want to try to have children now, or later on. There is no hurry on this. I am just so happy that I will have a grandbaby in the near future.

Everyone is happy about the news, and Jerry who was in the back seat gave us congratulations as well. I see Percy in the back row with Peyton looking at her with a big smile and then leaning over to give her a big k**s. I smile even bigger as we get on the road because I know it is a matter of time before I get a second grandbaby with them. I know that he is working on it, and I sit back in my seat much happier than I was when I started this day. I still want everything to go smoothly, but now I also want it to go quickly, so I can congratulate Dawson and Sloan. I cannot get the smile off my face as we approach the pack. We are about two miles out when Dawson links me, “They are all in the Office now mom. We also set up two monitors with 4 camera angles on each one so they can all see clearly.”

“Great job on getting them up to the office undetected. If they had been seen it may have stopped Anna from going forward with her plan. We will be at the gate soon. I will see you in just a little bit” I linked him back. I didn’t have to ask to see if Sloan was OK. Dawson was a very protective mate, just like Percy. They got it from their father, and I knew without asking that she would be safe. I grin just thinking about Sloan being pregnant with my grandbaby. I am over the moon excited about this. Heath is right, I will have to call Von as soon as I can because she will be absolutely ecstatic about it as well. I know that as soon as Percy and Peyton start having babies that she will get them taken care of at Ever Green, Von loves to shop for baby items, and I am so looking forward to doing it as well.

We arrive at the gates and the guards all waved to us as we arrive, and we waved back, sliding through the gates. I know that they don’t know who Jerry is, but we did advise that we will be bringing back extra members to our pack. I am always glad when our pack grows and gets an influx of a large number of young wolves arriving in it. We needed that for our pack to continue to grow and be strong. I see pack members lined up to greet us as we head up the main drive to the packhouse. “It is really nice to see how much your pack loves you. It was not like this at the pack I grew up in, or when Alpha Jared took me in at River Walk. I am glad that my men will be taken care of here, I can already tell that this is a great pack for them to live in. Thank you again for taking us in both here and at Ever Green. It meant a lot that you let us pick out which pack we wanted to go to and live in. Most of us never had a choice in our old packs to succeed, and now we are all getting a chance. I could have never dreamed that would happen while I tried to find men that I could try to help and shape into a good pack” Jerry said from the back seat as we wound our way up the driveway.

“You have excellent skills at picking out your men. The only problem I found with anyone in your group, was with Terry. I knew that Timothy had hand-picked him out personally” I told him.

“How did you know that I didn’t pick him?” Jerry asked me.

“He wanted to be in charge, but you were clearly the stronger between you two. He was resentful that you were in charge and younger than him. That lets Timothy be able to know about everything that happened in your pack because Terry would have gone behind your back and told him. I could tell what was going on the minute I spoke to Terry. It was why I challenged him so fast. I needed him to not be able to get to his phone to alert Timothy. He really doesn’t like women, so I goaded him into it. But I couldn’t let him contact Timothy and ruin everything that we had planned. It all worked out for the best. Oh, and speaking on plans in motion, I see Anna and her crew here, Tanner” I said, and tried to school my face into a small smile, and not the grimace that I wanted to use. We can allow no slip up’s here. I need this dealt with today, so we can move forward tomorrow.

We get out of the SUV and thank everyone for meeting us. Tanner introduces the 10 new men that decided to come to our pack, the rest went to Heath’s pack. I was actually glad to see two new mated couples as two of our she-wolves came forward as the men were being introduced to the pack. That is very nice, and although not everyone is here, the men will also get to go to Ever Green, to try to see if they can mind their mates there. If not there, we will make sure that the several others packs that we have a bond with are next on the list. I will have them start with Black Night as they are the largest pack around, and therefore increase the opportunities to find your mate. We will help them out, as they are our men now. I was proud of Dawson as he and Gavin came to shake the hands of all of our new men and introduced themselves to them. Dawson will be taking over soon, and I am so proud of him. Elena and Michelle waited on us at the top of the stairs with Tanner’s parents, Dawson and Aria. I couldn’t wait to hug Elena too.

I see Anna watching us, and I said, “Who’s ready for lunch? I just had coffee this morning, so I am starving now.”

Dawson sees why I said what I said and smiled and told me, “I will have Sloan meet us in the dining room for lunch.”

We all head into the packhouse and I hugged Dawson again as we walked with him toward the dining room. We heard the elevator sound and Sloan comes out with Vincent, Beth, and Moira right behind her, as well as the two new witches. I am glad that she was safe, and I give her a big hug too, and then kissed her cheek. Dawson collected his mate and escorted her into the dining room. It was almost 11 am, but lunch is starting now so it was good to go ahead and grab some fresh food, while it is still steaming hot. Tanner went over to one of the leads for the kitchen and then ordered 7 plates be made up and taken on a cart to his office with drinks. He is always thinking of others, and we don’t know exactly how long this is going to take.

I go grab a plate and filled it myself. I was not joking about being hungry. I can see Anna, Carrie, and Jennifer all floating around the lobby. They would change vantage points up, but they were indeed staring at Sloan, speaking in hushed tones. Looks like they were trying to get a plan together. They have had two full days now, they should have come up with something by now. I guess I need to be glad that they weren’t smarter than they are, or I guess we might have trouble on our hands.
