Chapter 125

Jasper’s POV

Royal Knight pack

I am done with this s**t. I already know that they want to kill me. I know what “judgment” they want to pass down. I have been paying attention here. I guess everyone here wants me dead. Well, fine then. I will go ahead and take Cassidy out first, then they can kill me, for killing her. But she will be dying before I do, and that is enough for me. I leaped forward screaming at her, and I see Peyton trying to pull Cassidy out of her chair and away from me. I go to pounce on top of Cassidy and then I run into a wall. I bounced back, falling to the floor, looking up in surprise, as there is literally nothing there. Nothing is blocking my way. What the hell is going on here? I get up quickly and try again, breaking the arm off the chair, as Bain won’t let me phase. I was just going to use my claws to cut her throat out, but that a*****e refuses to corporate with me. He won’t let me hurt her when she is the only option available to hurt here. If I were to kill Council member Phillips, they would keep me alive for months, torturing me as punishment, until I welcomed death. The same with Peyton, plus she has suffered enough.

I am blocked from getting to Cassidy, it is like there is an invisible bubble surrounding Cassidy, Peyton, and Council member Phillips. This is witchcraft, and I can’t get past it, but my anger won’t abate. I just start hitting the arm of the chair on the invisible barrier over and over again, before turning to try to see who is doing this. I don’t have to look far. I see Dawson and Percy both standing protectively in front of a slim woman with purple eyes, and there is my tip-off. Those purple eyes are a sure sign of a dirty freaking witch. Why is she even allowed to be in here? She does not belong here, in this pack, or in this courtroom. I decided that I will take care of her first, and then come back and take care of Cassidy. I change up my attack and jump over the half wall and run towards them, they are on the second row, so they are very close when I am suddenly floating in the air, unable to move and she just uses her hand to send me back to where I was sitting before, just hovering in the air. She did not set me down, and I know that she won’t unless one of the Council members tells her to do so.

I hover for a little while before I get lowered back to the floor, I see Leader Miller nodding to the witch. When my feet hit the floor, I realized that I am suddenly calm. Like all the anger that I had just felt, was gone, and in its place peace. I bet she did that too, maybe to calm me down, or to make it to where Bain had a shot at getting to come forward, and he took the opportunity. I suddenly realized that Bain has completely taken over now. I am being pushed back into the background as he looks over at Cassidy. I already know what this i***t is about to do, and I fight as hard as I can to take back over, but it is too late. Bain is in control now, and he is not going to give it back up until he says his piece.

“Peyton has suffered enough, really? What about what all you did to our mate? Cassidy has suffered enough too. So, stop trying to attack her, and go sit down” Bain linked to me, and I growled in frustration.

“There is no other option Bain. I won’t allow her to be free to live a good life, she doesn’t deserve it. She is the reason that they came to Dark Savage. Her killing my Luna’s was the whole reason that they even came to the Dark Savage pack in the first place. They are all against me, they have wanted to strip me of my title for a long time now” I linked him back.

“No, it was your actions, Jasper. Your actions were the reason that they came to the gate. Then they saw what was happening and stepped in to stop it. But this is ALL on you Jasper. All of it. All Cassidy did was love us, when you did everything that you could to hurt her, over and over again. I warned you what would happen. So this time you can take a back seat and watch the show like I usually have to” Bain linked me back.

“I have something to say to you all. I don’t know how much time I have. My name is Bain, and I am Jasper’s wolf. He will never tell you the truth, but I warned him what would happen if he lost my mate. I knew what he was trying to do when he marked the other two Luna’s. He honestly thought that Cassidy was weak when she is not. She was our perfect mate, and I wanted her. I always wanted you Cassidy, but he fought me. He was after power and becoming much more than the Goddess wanted for him. He made plans, bad ones, and I will answer all your questions before he takes back over. I do not know how much time I have, but I wanted you to know that I am sorry Cassidy. I am sorry that I was not strong enough to get you marked and mated. To fully make you ours, in every sense of the word. But I couldn’t, he would have killed you if I had. It was better for me to be able to get to see you, and scent you every day than if Jasper had killed you because I took you as our mate. I didn’t want to lose you, I never did, and yet, here we are, because of his actions. He did try to kill you, Cassidy, every time that he marked another, he was hoping that it would kill you. He had a friend that was an Alpha whose true mate refused to accept the rejection and his marking his chosen Luna killed her. That was 9 years ago, and probably the reason for the upswing in “undetermined” deaths. His name is Roderick Peters, and he is still the Alpha of the Rising Sun pack if you want to speak to him Council member Phillips” Bain tells the courtroom and then looks around. I see when he stops on Peyton, and I try again to stop him. He is telling everything. We have a fight for dominance, but I cannot subdue him right now. Something is preventing me from being able to take back control from him, and I fear by the time I can take control back over, it will be way too late for me to save us.

“Peyton, I am truly sorry that you went through all that you did. When Jasper saw you bring that bird back to life, something in him decided that if he had you as his mate, then he could be the next Alpha King. He made some very bad plans, for your brothers and for you. He was at least going to wait until you were 18 to mate him, that was the only good thing that he had planned, but knowing Jasper he probably wouldn’t have waited. He was going to have held you underground, hidden away with no interaction with anyone other than him, while your family searched for you. He was not going to bring you out of hiding until you were completely under his full control. Alpha Cameron, there is a small push button on the right side of the fireplace inside the Alpha’s office. It is on the mantle and near the wall, on the right-hand side. You will be able to find the hidden room by pushing that button. You can send your Beta to check right now if you want, just have them video it, so you can give it to the council for evidence” Bain gave a tight smile to Peyton, and she seemed upset. Maybe the thought of being hidden underground was worse than what she had endured. I am screaming at Bain to shut the hell up, and he just keeps talking. He is going to get up both killed. What is he thinking? he is worse than Cassidy and Council member Phillips.

“He should never have gotten away with all he did, but his Beta was approached in the mall, with Fallon giving the information to him about your whereabouts. Jasper had planned the extraction, and they all thought that she was just going to be handed over. No one expected Luna Victoria, or Peyton’s security to fight to the death over her. That was an accident, and I want to apologize to you as well Alpha James, as we all know that it pushed you both into a very dark place. You probably would have been OK, except for Fallon being so jealous. King Sebastian and Queen DeAnna, I am sorry for the pain that you went through when you were told that she had died in that attack. We didn’t know whether she had survived, we didn’t know if she was alive or dead, and Jasper couldn’t say anything for fear of incriminating himself. Everyone honestly thought that she was dead, so we all moved forward with that thought. If we had suspected that she was still alive, I guarantee you that Jasper would have attacked B***d Claw, to get her back” Bain stopped again to look around to see who else he needed to apologize to, he stopped on the parents of the Luna’s.

“I am sorry for your loss as well. Jasper picked them because he knew Carrie had a crush on him, and it didn’t take much to get her to agree with becoming his chosen. She wanted to be his Luna, but he shouldn’t have lied to her, or you, about not having a mate. We did, Jasper just didn’t want her. He just said that Cassidy didn’t have a good enough pedigree to be his mate. Despite the Goddess gifting her to us. Jasmin also liked Jasper, so it was easy to charm her as well. A handsome face and charming words can go far in getting women to fall in love with you. Carrie figured it out too. Even though Jasper had Alpha commanded Cassidy not to ever admit it, both the Lunas in fact ended up figuring it out. Sometimes I could force control over Jasper, and they could then tell that I loved Cassidy. They did ask her, repeatedly, but she was not allowed to admit that she was our mate. Jasper almost drove her mad with all that he did to her. She went through so much, and for him to think that she was weak, he is absolutely mistaken. She is strong, and he messed everything up by not seeing that himself. He was not destined to be the Alpha King. He is not wise, patient, or caring enough to be a good Alpha King. I am just thankful that he changed his mind about killing Christian and Bryson after Peyton was advised as being dead. That was the only thing that made him give up his crazy idea of becoming the next Alpha King. I believe that is all of the apologies that I wanted to make. Does anyone have any questions for me, before Jasper takes over control again” Bain said to the Council.

“Did Jasper intentionally attack the convoy to try to get Peyton?” King Sebastian asked.

“Yes, Fallon was telling the truth when she said that she was paid $20,000 to give up Peyton’s location” Bain answered him.

“Would he have really killed my sons to take over as Alpha King?” Queen DeAnna asked quietly.

“Yes, he was already making plans again on how to get rid of Christian and Bryson, at the same time and make it look like an accident. He was also trying to figure out how to kill Percy, as well. He needed Peyton’s mark to disappear from her neck, so he could mark her himself. So, he is actually still actively trying to plot it all out to kill all three of them” Bain told us, and the growls are loud in the gallery, and with the Council members.

“So, did Jasper send the 6 people who testified here earlier into Ever Green to get Payton? Leader Miller asked.

“Yes, he did. He also told them that he would help them if they got caught. But he lied, he just thought that they would be killed if they were found trespassing and wasn’t worried about them after they didn’t return. He just replaced his Beta and kept going” Bain told them.

“Was it always Jasper’s intent to shoot me at the gate” Heath’s voice rang out.

“Yes, he meant to shoot you, but he was actually trying to kill you, not injure you,” Bain told him. More growls ran throughout the room.

“Jasper said that he put the men down in his notebook as missing when his Beta, and crew, showed up to take me from B***d Claw. Why didn’t he feel it when they were killed?” Peyton asked.

“He did, he knew that they were all dead. He is an Alpha, correction, he was an Alpha. He felt it when the bond between them broke. But just in case it got investigated he put “missing” instead of “deceased” to try to put distance between him, and his Beta’s actions. He didn’t want to come up with charges against him for trying to abduct the Alpha King’s daughter. He knew he was 100% in the wrong. But he felt like having you as his chosen mate and then your brothers being killed put him in the position of being the next Alpha King. He knew he wasn’t qualified, but he thought that you being his mate, was the very best chance he had at becoming the next King” Bain told them.

Bain looked around the room one more time and then focused on Cassidy, “I am sorry that I couldn’t stop him. Please remember that I did try to stop him because I have always loved you. I loved you since the first time that I caught your scent. I will love you until my spirit is taken away by the Goddess.”

Bain looks to the back row where Cassidy’s second chance mate is sitting watching this all play out. “Please take care of her. She is worthy of all the love that you can give her. She needs a lifetime of it to make up for what Jasper did to her. I am sorry that I couldn’t stop him. I will rest easier knowing that you will love and take care of her from now on” Bain told Trevor, and I wish he would let me have control back. So, I can take all the bullshit that he just said back. As soon as I have control again, I will try to kill her one more time. It is only fair that she goes with us, as she caused this whole debacle.

“What have you done you fool? You told them everything. Why, why did you do that? We are both going to die now” Jasper is screaming at me in our mindlink.

“I told you that I had no interest in living without my mate. I told you that you needed to get prepared to meet the Goddess. I know what I did. I did what needed to be done. You ruined my life, so I ruined yours too. You have done too much, to both me and Cassidy for the last 10 years. You did unspeakable things to so many. Things that you need to be punished for, so get ready for the punishment. Your day is coming, Jasper” Bain told me and then finally gave up his control. I am back in control now, and I need to fix this.

“He was lying to you all! He is angry about losing his true mate, so since he cannot live without her, he wants to kill us both” I gasp out yelling across the room as soon as I have control. No one said anything but I have several people looking at me with scorn and contempt. Some looked at me like I am crazy to try to backpedal now in an attempt to save my life when everyone knows that Bain told the truth. I still want to live though, and what Bain just did was not conducive to that. Telling the Alpha King that you were going to kill his two sons, and take his daughter as your chosen mate, is not going to go over well.

Then laughter erupts from the witness box. I see Heath with one hand splayed out across his chest, as he is holding it as he laughs his head off at my comment. I feel the heat rising from my embarrassment at his laughing at me. “Are you trying to be serious right now, Jasper? Do you think that anyone here believes a word out of your lying mouth?” Heath then goes back to laughing at me again.
