Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 121
The driver steered toward the roadside all of a sudden, crashing into a telephone pole side-first. The impact was so strong that the rear of the car was almost torn apart. A minute later, the driver shook her head and kicked the door open, alighting from the taxi wobblingly. The impact had left her dazed.
She stood under the dim streetlight. The woman donned loose clothing and a cap, and her shoulder-length hair was the only feature that gave away her gender. Green Snake did not leave the scene immediately but walked up to the rear seat and checked the situation inside through the broken window.
Although the person sitting in the rear seat was definitely dead, she had to confirm the situation with her own eyes.
Green Snake was a professional killer and confirming that the target was dead was the bare minimum for her.
As she glanced at the rear seat through the window, her pupils constricted. The blood and pieces of flesh she had expected to see were nowhere to be found. Where is the target?
"Are you looking for me?"
Suddenly, a cold voice reached her ears.
Green Snake trembled, feeling a chill down her spine. She did not hesitate to crouch down and take out the dagger hidden in her boot.
But as she turned around to slash with her dagger, Adam was already before her.
Green Snake was startled by his speed. Without hesitation, she rolled sideways to dodge the attack. However, it was too late. Boom!
Adam punched her so hard that Green Snake felt as if someone had speared her through the abdomen. All of her organs trembled from the impact, and her feet left the ground as she was sent flying through the air, crashing against the deformed car behind her. A sharp pain spread from her back as she hit the car. She coughed up blood and slowly fell to the ground.
Green Snake tried to use the taxi as a support to get up, but she could no longer control her body or muster any strength. She clenched her teeth and tried again, but the result was the same. Eventually, she sat on the ground limply.
She had been defeated, and all it had taken was a single blow.
Green Snake raised her head weakly and looked at Adam, her eyes filled with shock, fear, and resentment. She could not understand how her perfect plan had failed. The target should not have felt anything amiss, and everything could be dismissed as an accident. Even if the police showed up in the morning, they would think that the driver was drunk and crashed against a telephone pole. She could not figure out how the target was still alive and what gave her identity away.
"When... When did you discover me?" asked Green Snake weakly.
Adam squatted in front of her and took her dagger away. "Who sent you?"
Green Snake snorted and lowered her head, ignoring his questioning.
Adam used the dagger to push up her cap, revealing Green Snake's pale but beautiful face.
"Are you a professional killer or a wanted criminal on the run?
"If you're a professional killer, I'll respect the rules of your occupation, and I won't ask you who your employer is. Of course, if you don't believe in my interrogation skills, I can always give you a taste."
Green Snake was stunned, and she raised her head to look at Adam again. She could not understand the meaning behind his words.
Why does he care if I'm a professional killer or not? Shouldn't he try to find out who is after him regardless?
Is it really because he respects the rules of my occupation...?
Green Snake did not believe Adam's explanation. Unless he was crazy, the first thing Adam should do if someone dropped in to kill him would be to find out who was behind it. No one would care about rules in such a situation.
Ah, right. In the file I received, it was mentioned that this man was a bit crazy.
"Are you still refusing to talk?" Adam used the dagger to slash at Green Snake's thigh.
"Ah!" Green Snake cried out in pain. She then lowered her head to look at the blood flowing from her thigh.
Adam said calmly, "You're suffering from internal bleeding, and if you're not taken to a hospital within 15 minutes, you'll die."
Green Snake retched, proving the truth of what Adam had said. Seeing that she had vomited blood, her expression hardened.
"Kill me," she said with blood trickling down the corner of her mouth.
Adam shook his head and called Black Dragon.
While waiting for Black Dragon to arrive, he started inspecting Green Snake's body.
Arms, ribs, chest... he left no part unchecked.
Green Snake glared at him and shouted, "You bastard... Stop!"
Adam inspected her thighs and added, "If you refuse to talk, I have no choice but to check things out myself. Anyway, no phone, no ID card, or anything else that can prove your identity.
"This must mean that you're a professional killer. If I'm not mistaken, you should all have a tattoo that can allow the organization's members to identify each other. It can also be used to warn the members of other organizations. Tell me, where is your tattoo? "If you don't reply, I'm afraid I'll have to take off your clothes to find it," said Adam.
"No!" Green Snake was startled. She raised her right hand and said, "It's on my wrist."
Adam smiled. It was good that she was willing to cooperate as it would save him some time.
He grabbed the woman's wrist and pushed her sleeve up. As expected, there was a strange but exquisite tattoo on her wrist.
At this time, Green Snake's left hand and right leg moved all of a sudden.
She had pretended to be angry and ashamed when Adam touched her earlier and then cooperated with him by showing him the tattoo on her wrist, but it was all for the sake of distracting Adam and finding the right opportunity to carry out her counterattack. Green Snake used her left hand to throw a handful of dirt in Adam's eyes. At the same time, she raised her right foot and kicked at Adam's head, planning to kill him with the blade hidden in the sole of her shoe.
The timing of her counterattack was impeccable. She attacked right when Adam was distracted by the tattoo and had his guard down.
Nonetheless...
Adam raised his right hand and kept it in front of his face; all the dirt was blocked, with only a few grains of sand landing on his hair. At the same time, he used his left hand to deflect the incoming kick. The counterattack had failed.
Green Snake looked at him in disbelief. "Did you predict my attack?"
Adam snorted. "Do you take me for an idiot? Why would I lower my guard in front of a professional killer?
"Well, it's not like you can kill me even if I lower my guard."
Green Snake snorted and lowered her again, refusing to talk.
"I suggest you start cooperating. Even if I can't kill you, nothing stops me from breaking your bones," said Adam coldly.
Green Snake kept silent.
Adam grabbed her wrist and inspected the tattoo again.
The tattoo depicted a coiling snake, and the way the red and black lines intertwined was beautiful.
Adam did not recognize to which organization the tattoo belonged, but he could have Black Dragon do some research later.
"Have you seen enough? Let me go!" snarled Green Snake.
She had worked as a professional killer for years, and it was her first time being humiliated like this.
Due to the employer giving them only 24 hours to complete the mission, she did not have enough time to investigate the target properly. If not for that, she would not be in this kind of predicament. The mission had failed, and she was going to pay with her life for her mistake. Adam let go of her wrist and walked away, no longer paying attention to Green Snake.
A minute later, Black Dragon drove over. When he saw the chaotic scene, he was startled. "Drake, are you okay?"
Adam nodded.
Black Dragon heaved a sigh of relief and walked toward Green Snake with a murderous look in his eyes. He raised his leg and prepared to kick her.
"Stop, she's suffering from internal bleeding. If you kick her, she might die for real."
Black Dragon stopped reluctantly, glared at Green Snake, and asked, "Who sent you?"
Green Snake snorted but did not reply.
"Trying to put on a tough front, are we? I'm curious to see which one is better, your will or my methods. You tried to assassinate Drake the Dragon, so I'll make you pay for it!"
Green Snake frowned, wondering what kind of title "Drake the Dragon" was.
"Take her to the hospital and research the tattoo on her wrist. I want to know everything about her organization," ordered Adam.
Black Dragon nodded and picked Green Snake up with great care, taking her to his car.
Of course, Black Dragon was not trying to be a gentleman. The reason he was so careful was that he feared he would kill her accidentally.
Adam sighed and headed to the hotel on foot, disappearing in the darkness of the night.
