Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 123
Adam narrowed his eyes and stared at the woman in front of him.
The woman was very attractive. Her long dark hair was scattered behind her shoulders. She had long eyelashes and beautiful eyes. Her nose was exquisite, and her lips were red.
She was dressed in a white turtleneck woolen sweater, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Her green jacket was fluttering in the wind. She was so beautiful that it felt as though time stood still as people looked at her. Katie was like refreshing jasmine. On the other hand, this woman had the cool aura of an elegant plum blossom.
It was no surprise that Katie felt apprehensive when she saw the woman. Any other woman would have felt the same way the moment they saw this beautiful woman.
Adam frowned when he noticed the sword in the woman's hand. The sword scabbard was minimal and green. Judging from her confidence, she was clearly an expert martial artist!
"Are you Adam Drake?" said the woman mildly, her cool voice bereft of emotion.
Adam nodded and replied, "That's me. Who are you?"
"I'm Priscilla Rain from Lotus Sect on Darkside Mountain. My master sent me to seek out the Drakes," the woman replied expressionlessly.
Katie looked worried.
Adam remained calm. He could not help feeling puzzled within. The Lotus Sect from Darkside Mountain was a martial arts sect.
First, members of Divine Gate showed up in Lisle. Now, someone from Lotus Sect had appeared as well. Also, the woman's style seemed candid.
"Are you from the Drake family?" Priscilla asked.
Adam admitted. "Yes, I am."
Priscilla's eyes lit up. She said in disbelief, "Really?"
Adam sneered and said, "My surname is Drake. Isn't that proof enough?"
Priscilla paused briefly. She frowned as she shook her head thinking Adam might be mistaken. She clarified herself, "Did your family get attacked six years ago?" Sure enough, she was here about the incident!
Adam laughed coldly within. He did not answer her. If he did, it would mean he knew about the tragedy the Drake family had met with, and his cover would be blown. Adam touched his nose. He put on a puzzled expression and smiled as he said, "I don't get what you're trying to say. It's not like my surname can suddenly change, right?" Priscilla raised her brow for a couple of seconds and said, "I'm looking for the leader of the martial arts world."
Six years ago, the Drake family was the leader of the martial arts world.
Adam shook his head and said, "I don't know what you mean. I have to go."
Adam held Katie by the hand and turned to leave. Priscilla frowned, still standing on the spot.
Am I mistaken? Is he the wrong person? If he were the right guy, it would be impossible for him to remain composed.
Something seems amiss.
It was at this moment that the Dragon-Snake Switch came to Priscilla's mind. It was the Drake family's most renowned martial arts technique. She said, "I want to spar with you."
Adam continued walking as he replied, "No, thanks. I'd rather not."
Priscilla frowned and insisted. "Please fight me."
Adam ignored her.
Priscilla sneered and pulled out her sword. A green silhouette brandishing a sword attacked Adam from behind.
Adam continued walking as though nothing had happened.
The sword suddenly halted. It was so swift that the blade trembled. The tip of the sword was only an inch from Adam's body. The attack was so powerful that it had cut off a few strands of Adam's hair. If the sword was an inch closer, he would have gotten hurt! Adam finally turned around.
Katie was so startled that she gaped. When she snapped out of her shock, she said angrily, "What do you think you're doing? What if he got hurt? Please leave."
Priscilla looked at Katie coldly.
Katie glared right back at Priscilla.
The two of them stared at each other for three seconds.
The receptionist was completely petrified and dumbstruck. She looked at Katie before looking at Priscilla, her mind in chaos.
What the hell? Is Ms. Hartley jealous of this woman? Is her husband fooling around?
"I just want him to fight. I won't hurt him," explained Priscilla coolly.
"If he doesn't want to fight, then you should leave him alone. Please leave this instant. Otherwise, I'm calling the cops," said Katie furiously.
Priscilla spoke as she turned to leave. "He will one day." With that, she left the lobby.
Katie frowned and did not say a word; she simply pulled Adam into the lift.
When they got inside the lift, she asked worriedly, "She was looking for you, right?"
Adam knew Katie had a lot of questions. After a brief silence, he nodded.
Katie smiled without asking further. "Watch your back. She looks like a decent fighter."
"Don't you have more questions?" Adam said in surprise.
"I trust you," Katie replied gently.
Adam was stunned. He wanted to explain things to Katie but was reluctant about getting her involved. He sighed and nodded.
Katie did not continue with the subject and stepped out of the lift.
The moment they walked out of the lift, Katie's phone rang. When she answered, someone shouted furiously...
"Are you Katie? Come over now. Your mother got into a fight."
A startled Katie said anxiously, "What do you mean? How could my mother get into a fight?"
"Just get over here immediately. You have 30 minutes. If you don't get here, then you can collect your mother from the police station," said an angry man. Gemma said loudly over the phone, "Katie, you have to help me. These people are absolute bullies. They've come with so many men..."
Gemma's voice stopped abruptly with a thud.
Katie felt worried, but she did not have time to hesitate. She promptly said, "Do not touch my mother. I'll come over immediately. Where is my mother?" "Greenhouse District."
Greenhouse District?
Katie hung up the phone and quickly went into the lift. She was stunned to hear of her mother's location since Katie's new place was in Greenhouse District. What's her mother doing there? Also, why did she get into a fight?
Adam and Katie rushed over to their apartment in Greenhouse District.
When they got out of the lift, they could hear the shouting.
"I am going to destroy everything. What are you going to do about it? How could you renovate it? Did you get approval from the building management? Smash the place now."
