Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 148

An absurd notion emerged in Dereck's mind before he quickly threw it to the back of his mind. He knew some of the men at the bank. Most of them were friends with Nelly, so they must be here on account of Nelly.

Dereck gritted his teeth and cursed Nelly in his heart. He said deeply, "I'm Dereck Redfield from Redfield Bank. Mr. Sanders is a friend of mine. Can you do me a favor and let him off the hook?"

"Mr. Sanders, hurry up. I still have a meeting to get to. Give me my money."

"Shut up and just give me all my money."

One after another, the men only insisted on withdrawing their money.

Gavin sat on the ground trembling. He said desperately, "Mr. Redfield, didn't you say you could help? Didn't you say Redfield Bank could help? You can't leave me in the lurch." Dereck flushed awkwardly, incapable of speaking a word.

Nelly alone had hundreds of millions of dollars in his bank account, so he could still handle it. Now that all these people were demanding withdrawal at the same time, the sum was astronomical. Even with the help of Redfield Bank, it would not be enough. Moreover, he was just the CEO's son. He probably had the authority to move hundreds of millions of dollars, but not this kind of money! It was impossible for him to help!

"I- I can't help you," after hesitating for some time, Dereck finally stammered. The moment he finished his sentence, he felt so embarrassed that he wanted to hide.

It was simply too embarrassing! He had confidently guaranteed he could help, but he had just slapped his own face!

Gavin's face instantly turned ghastly pale. He went stiff as though he was struck by lightning before his legs shuddered and a yellowish fluid flowed from between them. He was so petrified that he had pissed his pants!

Nelly said in contempt, "You coward! Only you can save yourself now. Do you think he can help you? I can assure you Redfield Bank is in equally deep shit."

Dereck glared furiously at Nelly in shock. "What do you mean?"

Nelly replied coldly, "Just call the bank and ask."

Dereck promptly pulled out his phone and made a call. Someone finally answered the phone after dozens of rings. Dereck could hear a lot of commotion coming from the background. "Hello, Mr. Redfield. We are very busy. Can you make it quick?"

Dereck trembled as he asked, "What happened?"

"I don't know either. A few big clients suddenly showed up at once to withdraw cash. The sum has already reached 30 million. I have already called the main branch for help."

The man hung up right after.

Dereck was dumbstruck!

Was Redfield Bank blacklisted as well?

The same thing was happening to the bank!

How did Adam pull this off? Who on earth is he?

Dereck's mind went blank. Just as he was in deep thought, someone inadvertently pushed his wheelchair. The force was so hard that he nearly fell out. He saw Gavin running to the roadside to flag a cab as he shouted, "The Hartley Group! Step on it! I want to get there as soon as possible. If you get any speeding tickets, I'll pay for it."

Gavin had changed sides and betrayed him!

Dereck could not believe his eyes.

Meanwhile, at the Hartley Group headquarters.

Adam, Katie, and Emma had just gotten back to the office. Katie was sitting in the office frowning as she thought about what she could do.

Sofia had already arrived at the office. She paced up and down as she said angrily, "What the hell? He attacked a woman. How could he have the audacity to seek revenge? "Katie, don't worry. I'll call my father and get a loan from him now. If it isn't enough, I will help you get a bank loan. I can't believe it. How could they get away with this?"

A notion suddenly emerged in Sofia's mind. She went over to the quiet man and asked, "Adam, aren't you a high-ranking government official? Can't you do something about it?" Adam was about to speak when Katie said, "Sofia, Adam can't help all the time, so stop making things hard for him."

Sofia shrugged powerlessly.

Adam said, "Katie, we don't need a bank loan. I have money. I can talk to the city council about the fine. After all, Plot No. 3 is a tourist location..."

Before he was able to finish his sentence, Emma barged into the office so anxiously that she nearly tripped.

"Ka-Katie, Gavin just called. He's on his way here," said Emma excitedly.

"What's he doing here?" Katie frowned and asked.

Emma felt so excited that she danced and shouted in joy, "He's here to give us a loan."

"What?" Katie was caught by surprise. Her face was filled with disbelief.

Gavin's loud voice could be heard coming from outside. "Get out of my way! I have to see Ms. Hartley!"

He kept shouting the entire way as he barged into Katie's office. His legs went limp the moment he entered through the door, so he fell to the ground. He quickly went up in front of Katie on his knees.

"Ms. Hartley, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I'll approve your loan immediately. You can borrow any amount you want. I'll personally handle it and make sure the money reaches you asap."

Katie looked at him in complete shock. What's going on? Has Gavin lost his mind?

Other than Adam, everybody stood dumbstruck.

A few minutes later, they snapped out of their daze. The moment they gathered their thoughts, they could smell something pungent. When they took a second look, they noticed Gavin's pants were wet. Everyone felt even more puzzled.

Gavin knelt on the ground. Since Katie did not respond, he bowed repeatedly. "Ms. Hartley, I hope you will accept the loan."

Katie, Sofia, and Emma all went speechless.

What's going on? Do bank representatives do this? Do they usually beg clients to take loans from them?

In a split second, they turned to look at Adam in unison and blurted out their questions in amazement. "Was it you?"

"Adam, did you do it?"

"Did you really blacklist Rivers Bank?"

The women looked at him in disbelief.

Adam nodded mildly. "I told you he will come and beg you."

"It was really you then," they exclaimed.

"Adam, how did you pull this off?"

"Oh God, this is brilliant!"

Sofia and Emma looked at him with admiration.

Meanwhile, in the capital.

Silas and Mario sat at the gambling table in a luxurious villa fiddling with the chips on the table.

"I hear you got thrown into jail yesterday," Mario laughed and said.

"The Hartley Group is now blacklisted by every single bank in Lisle. If the Hamiltons stay out of it, the company will lose all funding. When the time comes, they will have to liquidate all their assets. It is just a matter of time before the family is ruined!"
