Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 52
Gemma answered the call.
"Auntie, I've already made the call. Is Uncle out?" Daniel said.
Gemma immediately smiled, "He's out, thanks to you. A single call to Mayor Jake Allen."
"The mayor?" Daniel was slightly surprised, explaining, "Auntie, you misunderstood. The person I contacted wasn't the mayor, it's Director Lee." "Director Lee?" Gemma was puzzled.
"That's me," the director of the public security bureau next to them spoke.
Gemma, still unwilling to believe, asked again, "Daniel, are you sure you didn't contact mayor Mr. Allen?"
Daniel, confused, said, "Auntie, what happened? Although I know mayor Mr. Allen, it's not necessary to trouble him for such a small matter."
Gemma found it hard to accept; could it be that Jake Allen was really called by Adam?
How could this lunatic suddenly become so powerful?
There must be some misunderstanding.
Right, I heard that mayor Mr. Allen once awarded Adam a "bravery award." It must be because of this relationship that mayor Mr. Allen couldn't deny Adam's request. Gemma thought she had figured out the key point. It was just a bravery award; how could it compare to Daniel?
He has money and power; that's real strength!
"Hehe, it's nothing. Daniel, I heard you went to the provincial capital for a big deal. When are you coming back? Auntie will cook for you personally." "Okay, Auntie. I'll be back in a couple of days. I have something to do here. I'll hang up first."
"Alright, you go on."
Gemma waited for Daniel to hang up and instantly changed her expression, impatiently saying, "What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and leave!"
"Don't think that you can act like a big shot just because you got a bravery award. Without money and power, you'll always be useless!"
Adam smiled bitterly, nodded, greeted Jake Allen, and rushed to the parking lot to get his car.
In the car, Gemma scolded again, "Didn't I tell you to return the car? Why are you still driving it? Can't you distinguish your identity? Can you even drive this car?"
"Do you know that Katie works very hard? Are you squandering the money she earns?"
Adam helplessly said, "Mom, I have money, and this car is really bought for Dad."
"Shut up. Your money is still given by Katie. I don't want to hear your nonsense. Wait and see; sooner or later, Katie will divorce you!"
Adam sighed again. He knew that Gemma had grievances against him, leaving Katie and her daughter for six years without fulfilling the responsibilities of a husband, father, and a good son-in-law.
He drove all the way to the community to drop off Trey and Gemma. Looking at the time, he rushed to the company to pick up Katie.
In front of the community gate.
Gemma complained as she walked home, "Why don't you work properly and play cards? Even if you play cards, getting caught? Is it because I gave you too much pocket money?"
Trey chuckled and said, "Don't be angry first. Look at what this is."
Trey squatted down, bent over, took off two shoes, and pulled out two stacks of cash from under the insoles.
Gemma's eyes lit up, and she excitedly asked, "How much is there?"
"Ten thousand," Trey said proudly.
Gemma snatched it over, not minding the dirt, and counted it one by one.
"Leave me some, leave some," Trey urged anxiously.
Gemma frowned, took out one and handed it to Trey.
Trey immediately said, "A bit more, I'll win more tomorrow when I play."
Gemma hesitated for two seconds, then took out two more and handed them to Trey, saying seriously, "Just this much. Don't play anymore after losing tomorrow."
Trey immediately patted his chest confidently and said, "Puh, puh, puh, losing what? I'm sure to win. You don't know those three idiots... each of them is rich and stupid. They don't know how to play cards at all." "Come on, let's go. I'm in a good mood today. Let's not go home for dinner, let's go to a restaurant."
Gemma stared, scolded, "Go where? There are still two bowls of noodles left from lunch at home. Let's go home."
...
...
At the same time.
In a luxurious hotel suite in the provincial capital, a man spoke into his phone, "Continue, it's too little. Send more." "This time, I'll make a single, decisive blow, so she can't escape from the palm of my hand!"
