Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) -
Chapter 1537
The bodyguard looked visibly troubled, as he had strict orders from Kiran not to leave Sandy's side.
"Hey, he's just doing his job, cut him some slack," Sophie said, not waiting for Sandy to respond. She continued, "But with just us ladies in the house, it might be a bit awkward for him to stay here. Why not crash in the greenhouse out back? It's warm enough, and with your mistress safe with me, she's not going anywhere."
"This..." The bodyguard hesitated, unsure of what to do.
Sandy piped up, "Didn't you hear Sophie? Quit hovering around or I'll tell my brother to take drastic actions!"
Sandy's fierce expression left no room for argument. The bodyguard, not wanting to make things worse with Kiran, nodded reluctantly. "Yes, Miss."
Winter had settled in Summerfield, and while the light snow wasn't freezing, it wasn't cozy either. The greenhouse had heating, making it warmer than the house, but it lacked a bed, only having chairs. It was shaping up to be a rough night for the bodyguard. Inside the villa, Sandy anxiously asked, "Did Colby really betray you?"
"I don't know, maybe," Sophie replied. "If he's lied to me once, who knows what else he's capable of?"
"So... are you really going through with the divorce?" Sandy had thought it was just a spat, but hearing Sophie, she realized it might be serious.
Sophie's eyes fell on Sandy's suitcase, "How many days did Kiran let you stay in Summerfield this time?"
"One day," Sandy replied, a hint of sadness in her eyes. Though she made the trip, she couldn't stay long. "Just a day and you've brought all this?" Sophie asked.
"My brother packed it all, worried I wouldn't be comfortable with the stuff here," Sandy explained. She opened her suitcase, "I checked everything before coming-no bugs
orbidden cameras."
Sophie was taken aback. She remembered when Sandy was just a spoiled heiress. Somehow, she'd picked up on these precautionary skills.
"Why are you tooking at me like
that?" Sandy asked, taking Sophie's hand. "We've been through thick and thin together. I'd never betray you Even if my brother sent me here to dig for information, I won't let him harm you."
Sandy's sincerity was clear.
Sophie smiled softly, "You were cuter when you were a bit bratty."
"Dad always said everyone has to grow up. I might not be as sharp as you yet, but I'm learning. One day, I'll be a friend who can stand right by your side," Sandy said. Sophie chuckled, "I'm sure that day is just around the corner."
Suddenly, Sophie's phone rang.
Tricia's name flashed on the screen. On the other end, Tricia's voice was urgent, "Ms. Sophie, when can you get back? The company needs you
to come and sort th
