Revenge Of The Billionaire Girl -
Chapter 68 Drake is really going to give up on you
Flynn and Bailey wondered if Sophia knew how much Drake suffered.
Drake disliked the atmosphere. He turned to the Old Riley. "Grandpa, don't you hope me to leave? I'm ready to go now."
He struggled to move forward.
The Old Riley was in a trance, wondering if he had made the correct decision. He insisted his grandson marry a woman from a wealthy family, although Drake might not like that woman. He wondered if that was correct. However, the Old Riley was unwilling to let Sophia be with him.
Shortly after, the lively place quieted down.
Bard could understand how Sophia was feeling. He called her in concern, "Sophia!"
Sophia raised her head. "It's quite late now. Bard, I didn't sleep well earlier. I want to sleep."
"If you want to cry, cry out. Don't burden it yourself, Sophia." Sophia's status reminded him of when she returned from Amerosia. Well, she seemed to suffer more than that time.
She told them she had stopped loving Drake, but she hadn't.
She pretended to be strong.
However, Bard knew all she wanted was to stay alone for a while.
"OK. I'll go home. Need help. Call me."
"All right."
...
A week later.
The project would start soon, so Sophia checked it on-site.
Chloe and Sophia went to the project site together.
After arriving, she saw Drake, Flynn, and Bailey.
When they reencountered, Flynn and Bailey subconsciously checked on Drake, but he didn't raise his head, staring at his phone.
Sophia nodded at Flynn and Bailey in greetings without sparing a glance at Drake as if she didn't know him.
Chloe muttered, "Has Drake Riley given up on you?"
Sophia glanced at him calmly. "Beats me."
"Humph! He'd better keep his promise. Or he'll hurt you again. Sophia, you deserve a better man." Chloe darted a glance at Drake in disdain. Although she could tell he still loved Sophia, she would never forget how much he had hurt her.
Harris arrived and said apologetically, "You've arrived so early. Sorry for being late again. I didn't mean to put on the air."
Flynn mediated, "It doesn't matter. Shall we go to check the site together?"
"Sure. Let's go."
They walked away.
Arriving at the entrance, Flynn and Bailey entered. Drake and Sophia were behind.
They almost stepped in at the same time. Before bumping into each other, they stopped mid-step.
Sophia looked at him.
Without looking at her, Drake entered.
Sophia followed him.
Seemingly nothing had happened, but something had indeed happened between them.
Flynn and Bailey watched the silent changes between them. However, they were just outsiders and couldn't remark.
They had been negotiating about the planned places. A large area of land was needed for the construction of overbridges. Therefore, they still needed to deal with some aftermath.
It was a significant project that had attracted the world's attention, so they couldn't afford to make any mistakes. They had to resolve the problems that their subordinates couldn't deal with. That was why they gathered again.
They drove to a suburban area. None of the residents there had expected their streets to be torn down. They felt angry for moving from the familiar neighborhood and going to an unknown place. Arriving at the place, they found the residents gathering and making a fuss. The policemen arrived but failed to stop them.
Harris said, "Please wait here. Let me talk to them."
Sophia was far from them, so she didn't hear Harris' words. However, after getting familiar with Harris, she could tell he was competent. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been in charge of this project. However, Sophia sensed something wrong.
She walked forward.
Flynn called her, "Sophia, what are you doing?"
"Stay here. Let me check."
Flynn was annoyed. "What's going on? Who does she think she is to command us?"
Chloe glared at him. "Do as she told. Cut the crap."
"Ms. Thomas, I'd be more delighted if you could mind your language."
Ignoring him, Chloe looked at Sophia.
It was cool. Sophia wore a black blazer and high boots, looking slender and slim, but she gave off a strong aura. "Listen to me, everyone!" Sophia called them.
Her pleasant voice attracted everyone's attention.
"I know your concerns. If you have any thoughts, please tell me. I'll try my best to satisfy your requirements." Harris glanced at her helplessly, "This might not work, Sophia."
"It's OK. I know the government assigned you the task, but I'm responsible for everything I'll do. Please don't worry." Harris felt grateful upon hearing her words.
The troublemakers glanced at them in confusion and yelled, "You are all on the same side. Why should we trust you?" "Exactly! Why should we trust you?"
A man tossed a bottle at them.
Before a bottle hit Sophia, Harris was about to block it from her, but another man rushed up.
Flynn and Bailey gaped at the scene. Drake was beside them earlier but suddenly ran over there.
Shocked, Sophia raised her head to look at him.
Drake seemed to realize he had done something he ought not to do, so he flinched and distanced himself from her in silence.
Pointing at the man, Harris snapped angrily, "If you hurt her, you would be sent to jail. It's a good thing. Why do you have to make a fuss?"
Before the residents retorted, Sophia stepped up and said, "Well, if you have any requirements, you can talk to me in person. I'm working with them, but I'm the president of the Skylane Group. I promise I'll keep my word to you. Please name your requests."
'The president of the Skylane Group?'
"Isn't your son working for the Skylane Group?"
"Right. It's said this company provides a good package for its employees, right?"
