Rise of the Alpha -
Chapter 36
Magnolia
‘Finally! I’m free. Now I just need to get back to full strength.’ My wolf howls as I just stand there in shock.
I’m a f*****g Alpha! What the ever-loving hell is going on?
‘Yes. We are Alpha. We’re powerful. Our people will bow to us.’
“HOLD ON!!” I scream out to her. I need to wrap my mind around this. This changes everything I’ve ever been told. A female Alpha is unheard of among wolves, or at least that’s what I, we, have always been taught.
“Blaine, have there ever been female Alphas before?” I ask with a need burning in me to know. Has my pack hidden even more from me? From all females? What if I’m not the first in our pack this has happened to? Where are those females now?
He just stares at me, slack-jawed. Does my being an Alpha change the way he feels for me? Does he hate knowing that he’s mated to a wolf of equal standing? My anxiety washes over me, and I feel a panic attack building. Casting my eyes around at the others, I see them gawking at me, their mouths and eyes wide as well. Do they feel differently about me now? Have I lost them before ever even claiming them as mine?
Blaine moves straight toward me before abruptly stopping in front of me. Reaching up, he takes my chin in his hand and tilts my head upward. “First, I want to address something else, and then I’ll answer your question. You being an Alpha changes nothing. You are my mate, and honestly, I feel even less worthy of you now. So drop all those doubts I can see racing through your mind. They’re wrong. Nothing will change how I feel about you. You and your wolf are ours. Now, about what you asked. Yes. There are female Alphas; though I will admit, they are extremely rare, but not unheard of.”
“So I’m not a freak, and my pack lied to me all these years, telling me that women could never be an Alpha, have power, or be strong.” Just saying the words ‘my pack’ makes me want to puke. I’m convinced now more than ever that I’m making the right decision. My mom may want to continue to stay there, but I can’t. “I’m so sorry.” Why I’m apologizing, I don’t even know.
“Don’t ever f*****g apologize for feeling how you do and speaking up about them. In fact, I’d be more pissed if you didn’t. We’re a bond, one you’ll know for certain soon, as well as these guys…” He throws his hand over his shoulder, waving his arm at the others and clearing his throat before he begins to speak again, “Excuse me, guys and girls. We’re all bonded in some freakishly crazy way that I’m down for. My wolf and I will learn to accept you being with the others.
I just ask for your patience. In fact, we’re already imagining seeing you writhing in pleasure from the others, so I think we’re going to be perfectly fine with it. So we may not need you to have much patience,” Blaine says with a chuckle before he leans in, placing his lips on mine and kissing me deeply. My lips part for his, allowing his tongue entrance as he tangles it with mine.
I feel a soft hand touch my arm, pulling me from the l**t-filled haze overtaking me with Blaine’s k**s. “Magz, sorry to interrupt this make-out session, but do you want to continue? We can do the spell to remove the mate block another time. I know this has been a lot and not what you expected to find out.” Wylla’s voice soothes the rage building inside of me at the lies I’ve been told my entire life.
“No, we can continue with the spell. I need to, no, I want to know who I am mated to, if for nothing more than my own sanity. If I’m mated to the Alpha heir and his Betas, I want to see if we can find a way to break the bond, severing it forever. Is that possible, Wylla?” My wolf feeds me the strength to say the words.
“Even Jeremiah?” she asks, which sets Blaine and the guys in an uproar.
“Of course she f*****g does. Is that even a question that needs to be asked?” Blaine growls out angrily, his hands already beginning to shift into claws.
“You can calm it down, puppy, and put those claws away. It’s a question that needs to be asked. Magz herself said she felt something different around him, and he is showing himself to be a better person than the others. At the moment, he’s showing himself to be a standup guy,” Wylla announces as she looks to me for an answer.
“I want to say yes, break the bond to him as well if there’s one. But you’re right, I’m conflicted at the moment. He’s showing me he’s not like the others, and if he is true to his words and he is bonded to me, then I want to give it a chance to grow. But also, I know I want to help him save his sister, regardless if I ultimately decide to sever the bond.”
“Babe, are you sure?” Zeke comes up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist as he k****s my neck. I nod my head yes. “Okay then, I’ll support your decision.”
“I will too, Maggie,” Jude pipes up as he steps beside Wylla. “You know I always have my bitch’s back,” Wylla sing-songs.
“Fine, but one step out of line and my wolf is eating him,” comes from my grumpy wolf mate.
“Okay then, everyone back into the same position as the last spell. Time to find out once and for all who our girl is really mated to,” Wylla announces with joy, but I can hear the slight trepidation in her voice. Fear that she may not be mated to me. Goddess, please, let these three men and this one amazing woman be my mates.
Turning around, I see Brick on his knees, sitting back on his haunches, eyes wide, glued on me.
“Brick, are you okay?” I move over to him, kneeling down before him. “Earth to Brick, do you hear me?” I ask again when he doesn’t respond.
“I just- I can’t- F**k me sideways, you’re an Alpha. That’s freaking amazing. Wait until I tell all my friends,” he says with such glee and pride. Sheer happiness for me radiates off of him.
“No! Brick, promise not to say anything yet. Not until I figure out how to handle this with my pack. My life depends on it.” I add the last part, knowing I can be honest with him, that if he knew how important it was, he’d keep his mouth shut. Honestly, I don’t know how we’re going to hide it. I can feel the power radiating from me now, and from what my wolf says, we’re not even at full strength.
“I promise, Magnolia.” He stands slowly. “I’m going to move back out of the way while you do the next spell. But I’m here if anything freaky happens.” He gives a genuine smile before turning and walking over to the sidelines of the field.
“Thank you,” I whisper-shout to him, knowing he heard me. Turning back around, I look around at the guys and Wylla. Taking a deep breath, I move to the center of the field. It’s time to find out who my mates are.
