Rise of the Alpha -
Chapter 6
Zeke
Running into her tonight was not in my plans. Leaving the bathroom and seeing her again caught me off guard. The way she looked at me like she knew me, still has my heart beating frantically. I was such an a*s, instead of just saying ‘excuse me’ I acted like a f*****g d**k.
Damn, she’s just as f*****g beautiful now as she was earlier today. I wanted to be with her, hell, my ferret was clawing at me to shift. He wanted nothing more than to be curled up against her body as she stroked him. But that would never happen. Once she found out I was nothing but a measly ferret shifter, a prey animal she would never want to be with us. Not to mention the fact that she spilled her guts to me while I licked her sweet juices from her fingers.
I rushed back across the quad to where I left Blaine, who was growing more pissed by the minute about not finding the Exodus Pack wolf. I see him standing by the bar, the slutty fairy that’s been trying her hardest to get him to notice her, still there. My movement quickens, cutting the remaining distance between us.
“F**k off, slut. He doesn’t want you!” I bark out at her, causing her to jump in fear. Tears stream down her face as she scurries off into the crowd.
“What crawled up your a*s?” Blaine laughs, fucker knows he’s glad I got rid of her.
“I ran into the chick from the woods I told you about. Acted like a dumbass and was a grade-A prick to her. It’s for the best. She’d never be interested once she found out.”
“You need to get over it. We don’t care what your shifted form is. You’ve proven with every cage match you’ve fought in that you can beat the living f**k out of anyone. You’re a ferret, own the badass shifter you are,” he lectures me for the millionth time.
He’s right about one thing. I’m a beast in the ring. Hell, just last week I took down two dragons. Whoever said they were one of the fiercest shifters in the world f*****g needs their heads examined. But I hate talking about me, and he knows it. So I switch quickly to a subject that’ll get him going.
“Did you find the Exodus Wolf or get confirmation on who it is?”
“No, it’s like it’s being kept top secret. No photo, nothing to identify who it is. What the hell is wrong with this school? Couldn’t they put out a freshman registry with a name, picture, supe type, and pack or coven? You know, all the basic shit someone should know?”
His face reddens the angrier he gets, lessening to some degree how bad I feel about being rude to my white wolf. “Seen Jude anywhere?” He’d taken off about ten minutes after we arrived, wanting to find the girls from downstairs.
“Nah, but let’s go find him and see if he found our neighbors. I’m curious if the one is as hot as he keeps going on about. Let’s check out the dance floor. You know he’s probably there showing off his Magic Mike moves, especially if he got tired of looking for the girls.”
He pushes off the bar, and we head through the crowd, heading to the center where the dance floor was set up and the music is the loudest. It’s still crazy how people quickly move out of his way when they see the future Alpha of the Stoneridge pack moving toward them.
As the dance floor comes into view, I see Jude. “There he is,” I tell Blaine as I reach out and point him out.
“F**k me! If they look as hot from the front as they do from the back, his a*s better be sharing them,” exclaims Blaine with a guttural g***n.
Casting my gaze off Jude, who had been my center of attention, I see the two girls with him. One with rainbow-colored hair just as he described, with a banging a*s body. But it’s the one on the opposite side of him that has my heart plummeting. The girl has gray shoulder-length hair, and I don’t even have to see her face to know who it is. It’s her, my white wolf. F*****g no chance in hell of me being with her now that she’s met Jude. Who would want a ferret when they could have an Incubus? A man literally built for s*x. Looking to my left, I see Blaine, and he’s zoned in on them as well. F**k, he’s drooling over them. Yep, it’s a done deal. With an Alpha Wolf and Incubus s*x machine, the lowly puny ferret won’t have a chance. There’s no way in hell I can walk over there and be near her, especially after how I treated her.
“Blaine… Blaine… Earth to Blaine… Are you in there? F**k this shit, I’m going back to the room,” I bark out gruffly when the fucker ignores me. I take one final look at the woman who captured my heart today before turning and leaving. Passing by the makeshift tent set up as one of the many bars, I reach over the counter, grabbing a bottle of Jim Beam. The asswipe behind the counter goes to say something before I cut a glare at him and throw up a middle finger.
The rest of my plans tonight include getting f*****g plastered and forgetting everything. I hope like hell this liquor helps me fight this pull I feel for my white wolf. I open the bottle, taking a long swig of the brown liquid, a slight burn to my throat as it slides down.
