Salute To The General -
Chapter 3552 Confrontation
Upon hearing that, Hepburn hesitated, "Well..."
Shadowbeard's suggestion wasn't bad, but she also knew Shadowbeard and the other elite primordial vampires had always been somewhat unfriendly toward Nathan.
Having Shadowbeard lead a team into Mount Eoncrest to rescue Nathan didn't seem quite right.
Shadowbeard seemed to see through Hepburn's reservations, his voice deep as he said, "Do you not trust me, Your Majesty? I solemnly swear that I will do everything in my power to save Mr. Cross, and I will not treat this matter lightly." Vampires regarded oaths with utmost importance.
Moreover, Hepburn knew that Shadowbeard was a man of his word.
Seeing Shadowbeard swear like this, she quickly said, "It's not that I don't trust you. It's just that people from all walks of life are flocking here now. Who knows how many ill-intentioned individuals inside Mount Eoncrest are under the guise of rescue when they are actually plotting to hunt down Mr. Cross? You're venturing into Mount Eoncrest to rescue Mr. Cross. It's bound to be extremely dangerous, so I'm a bit worried..."
Shadowbeard said in a deep voice, "Rest assured, Your Majesty! No matter how perilous Mount Eoncrest may be, we will rescue Mr. Cross. If Mr. Cross were to die, we, the vampires, would lose our greatest hope."
Hearing Shadowbeard's speech, Hepburn had no choice but to agree, "All right, then. Please take all the elite primordial vampires with you and secretly enter Mount Eoncrest immediately to rescue Mr. Cross. I'll lead the vampire army and engage in a standoff with the Curia's forces here. I'll hold back the main force of the Curia, preventing them from entering Mount Eoncrest to harm Mr. Cross. As for the task of saving Mr. Cross, I'll be counting on you, Mr. Shadowbeard."
Shadowbeard declared loudly, "I won't disappoint you, Your Majesty."
After saying that, he strode off, summoning all elite primordial vampires to secretly venture into Mount Eoncrest.
Shadowbeard and his crew had just set off when Lyanna entered once again, reporting, "Your Majesty, Pope Eugene from the Curia, has agreed to meet and talk with you."
Hepburn squinted her eyes. "All right! Max, get ready. We're going to meet that old guy Pope Eugene."
Max said, "Understood."
In the twilight, on the plains, the vampire army and the Curia's army stood in opposition, separated by a kilometer.
Hepburn, along with Max and a few other vampire princes, arrived at the very center of the standoff between the two armies.
Eugene IV, accompanied by several cardinals and a few War Gods of the Light, slowly emerged from the ranks of the Curia's army. Eugene IV squinted, looking at the close-by Hepburn, and sneered, "Well, well, I trust you've been well, Holy Maiden."
Hepburn lifted her charming face, calmly stating, "I am no longer your so-called Holy Maiden. Now, I am the vampire queen, Hepburn."
Eugene IV scoffed. "Ah. I almost forgot. You've already fallen and become a wicked being. Truly, he who fights too long against dragons becomes a dragon himself!"
Hepburn squinted her eyes, coldly
asking, "What is justice, and what is evil? Evil is not to be feared, nor is righteousness to be overly praised. What's terrifying is that some people boast about their righteousness, but behind the scenes, they're engaged in unspeakable evil deeds
The expression on Eugene IV's face changed instantly after he heard Hepburn's words.
He couldn't shake off the feeling that Hepburn knew about his collusion with the Gods and that he had betrayed humanity and the Earth. I wonder if she knows.
Eugene IV exclaimed angrily,
"Hepburn, you've fallen and become
a vampire, betraying the Curia and
harming humanity. You even went so far as to harm Mr. Cross, sto
intending to put Mr. Cross in mortal danger. Even now, you dare to slander the Curia. It seems you refuse to give in until you're faced with the grim reality. Believe it or not, with a mere wave of my hand, the mighty army of the Curia behind me can annihilate every single one of you vampires."
Hepburn sneered, "Mr. Cross met with trouble on your turf. Do you dare say you had no hand in harming Mr. Cross? Now, you're even trying to stop me from entering Mount Eoncrest to rescue Mr. Cross.
Do you really think I don't b
what's going on? If you wish to fight, the vast vampire army behind me will fight you to the end."
Eugene IV and Hepburn were locked in a standoff at that moment, neither backing down.
It seemed like a great battle was about to break out at any moment.
However, right then, a human troop suddenly arrived.
They were none other than the thirty thousand elite warriors from Eurasia's North Army, and the man leading the troop was Fang.
