Secret Admiration: Finding True Love After...
Chapter 577 He Didn't Expect It

Felix's eyes were glassy, his expression dazed from the persistent high fever.
His voice was weak. "Go ahead and sew it up. I'm curious to see how ugly your handiwork will be."
Meryl didn't reply.
The bed was too low, and her pregnant belly made bending over uncomfortable. To make things easier, she knelt down directly.
Years ago, when medical technology wasn't as advanced, her mentor, Michael, had performed emergency sutures in dire situations. Meryl had assisted him a few times.
This was her first time doing it herself. Her hands trembled slightly with nerves. Thankfully, Felix cooperated, lying still without making a sound. He resembled a puppet, entirely numb to the pain. Determined to do a perfect job, Meryl worked meticulously for a full hour. By the time she finished, her legs were completely numb from kneeling.
She took off her gloves, sat down on the chair while supporting herself on the edge of the bed, and casually wiped the beads of sweat that had formed on her forehead.

Then, she disinfected the wound and applied a sterile bandage
to cover it.
Felix glanced at the sutures. "Aside from being slow and a bit painful, I'd say you did a decent job. Honestly, after our last argument, I thought you'd leave me to rot. But here you are..."
Before he could finish, Meryl shoved a thermometer into his mouth, silencing him.
As her gaze swept over him, she noticed a fresh wound on his palm, and it was likely from the dagger during their last argument. Clearly, he hadn't bothered to treat it.
She disinfected it with iodine and carefully wrapped his hand in bandages.
Once done, she retrieved her stethoscope and began examining
him.
"Your herbal soak recipe needs some adjustments," she said calmly.
Then, she inserted acupuncture needles into key points along Felix's legs. "Your legs are improving. You can start some rehabilitation exercises soon, and it'll aid in recovery. Make sure Philip massages your legs every night to promote circulation." Taking out a pen and paper, she sketched a diagram and handed it to Philip, demonstrating the techniques in detail.
Philip recorded the demonstration on his phone for future

reference.
After the massage, Felix felt an unusual warmth spreading through his legs as if enveloped by a gentle current. Initially, he'd let Meryl treat him out of sheer desperation,

expecting little. Yet, over time, her methods had yielded tangible results.
Felix's eyes gleamed with disbelief. "Where did you learn medicine like this?"
Doctors had long declared his legs irreparable, yet in just one month, Meryl had restored some sensation to them.
He had investigated her background thoroughly. Meryl had no formal medical degree and no history of treating patients. He was curious how she had transformed into what seemed like a
miraculous doctor, capable of treating even him.
Meryl's response was calm. "I learned from a great doctor."
Felix's skepticism deepened. He had tried numerous therapies, and all the doctors had reached the same grim conclusion. One even mentioned that only Esther George, a legendary healer, might have been able to help him. "Who is Esther?" Felix asked, his brow furrowed.
The doctor had told him that Esther was the finest doctor of their time but had long since gone into seclusion. No one knew their whereabouts, and rumors claimed they had passed away.

Some said Esther had taken on a disciple.
Felix had dismissed the story as nothing more than wishful thinking.
Now, watching Meryl's apparent miracle work, he suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist tightly. "What's your connection to Esther?"
