The kiss was sudden and filled with desperation.
Emma's hands shook and clung to Jaden's shirt.
Her lips, soft and broken, pressed against his with an eager need to drown the ache in her heart. She lost herself in the warmth and safety he offered.
Her breath hitched as if each second of closeness with him could mend a part of her shattered soul. Jaden froze, his eyes widened in disbelief and shock.
His heart hammered wildly against his chest.
He hadn't expected this, not in a million years.
The feel of her trembling soft lips sent waves of emotions crashing through him.
He tasted her pain, her longing, and something new, something he couldn't really understand.
His body responded immediately. His cock standing at attention.
His hands cupped her face, pulling her close, wanting more, craving even more.
Her lips trembled, and a low moan escaped her, igniting a fire within him that he could hardly control.
He felt his resolve weakening as his tongue pushed into her mouth.
She tasted like strawberry and alcohol. Her breathing was unrhythmical.
But in an instant, reality crashed onto Jaden. His breath caught, and he suddenly pulled back, his forehead resting against hers while he fought to control himself.
His chest rose and fell with labored breathing, and he looked into her hazy eyes.
"Emma," he whispered, each word laced with emotions he had covered for far too long. "This isn't right."
Her face crumpled, her lips quivering into a drunken pout as her eyes shone bright with a fresh wave of tears. "I don't care right now," she mumbled, her voice breaking on the words.
Her pain was laid bare to Jaden, raw and open.

Jaden cupped her face gently, his thumb brushing away a tear from her cheek. "But I do care," he whispered, his voice cracking with the weight of his restraint. "I want this too, more than you, but not like this. Not when you hardly know what's going on in your surroundings." His eyes searched hers. "I don't want to hurt you, Emma. Let me help you inside."
She sighed heavily.
She was too drunk to make out what he was saying, but she had no strength even to argue.
Her head lowered in defeat and Jaden took her hands, easing her gently out of his car.
She leaned heavily on him, her steps unsteady.
His arm went around her shoulder as he led her to her door.

He rapped once and the door creaked open. Mrs. Walker's nurse appeared, her eyes widening slightly at the sight of Emma's condition. Without a word, they guided Emma to her room Jaden carefully laid her on the bed, brushing a strand of hait front her forehead. "Goodnight, Emma," he whispered, his voice almost breaking. He turned and left.

Emma woke late the next morning, her head pounding with the heavy throb of a hangover. The room was too bright, the sunlight too sharp.
She groaned, clutching her temples as the events of last night raced through her head.
The kiss. How Jaden had turned her down.
The shame crashed over her and she bit her bottom lip in frustration.
She covered her face, her cheeks burning hot. What had she done?
Swallowing hard, she reached for her phone with trembling fingers. She hesitated a little but eventually texted him.
She appreciated her relationship with Jaden and didn't want it destroyed all because of her action.
AAAAA
Jaden's father strode into the office with an authority that vacuumed the air out of the room. His presence was a force to reckon with.
The door closed behind him. Jaden's jaw tightened; his grasps tightened around the pen he was holding.
Since that crazy supper days ago, Jaden had been doing everything in his power to keep his distance most especially from his father. Not out of fear, although his father had always had a way of instilling it but, because he couldn't stomach the thought of his father using Emma for his business ambitions.
Bile rose in his throat at the mere thought of it.
She had been through so much already, more than most people at her age.
Jaden had sworn to himself that he wouldn't become another reason for her pain, and neither would he let his father's ruthless plans come her way.
He dropped his pen onto his desk as his father stood in front of his table with an unmatchable cold aura. He sat up, looking straight into his father's cold eyes.
"I've used numerous mediums in the last couple of days to get a meeting with you," his father's voice dripped with disdain. Sharp and cold.
Jaden exhaled slowly, willing himself to remain calm. "I've been busy, as you can see."
"Too busy to spare your father even ten minutes of your precious time?" His father's voice thundered.
A headache rose behind Jaden's eyes. He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. "I'm sorry. I'm listening now."
His father's eyes, sharp as flint, narrowed. "It's about your girlfriend. I told you I want to meet her."
Jaden's jaw clenched. He already knew where this was going. "She's too busy. She barely has time for herself, let alone..."
"Don't insult my intelligence with weak excuses, Jaden." His father cut him off. "If you can't arrange this, just say so. But know this, I will meet her. If you don't handle it on time, I'll do things my way." 7 10:19 Fri, 20 Dec

A threat. That was what his words were. His father turned and swiftly walked away, his polished shoes clicking against the tiled floor. The door shut with a loud thud.
Jaden cursed under his breath, his hands balling into fists.
His father always made sure to have his way with people, weaving them into his plans and reducing them to pawns in his
games.
But not this time. Jaden wouldn't let Emma be caught in his father's game. He couldn't bear the thought of her suffering again.
His phone buzzed, jerking him out of his thoughts. He was more than grateful for the distraction.
He picked up his phone, his heart thudding against his ribs as he saw the name across the screen.
Emma.
Her message was three words, but his pulse quickened as he read it.
"Can we meet?"
