"You shouldn't have played this game with me, handsome," she said, malice dripping in her voice. Look at you now, You don't look so good. Where are they?"
Jim's swollen eyes flickered open; he breathed laboriously. Though he was in pain, he was able to force a faint, pitiful smile. "I don't know," he croaked. "He doesn't tell me anything"
Annie's jaw tightened, her fury simmering just beneath the surface. She leaned closer, her lips brushing his ear as the whispered, "Wrong answer, darling."
he straightened and slapped him hard across the face, the sound echoing through the empty warehouse, Jim groaned, his Read snapping to the side, fresh blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
"Please," he rasped, his voice trembling with desperation. "Let me live. I'm sorry."
His words infuriated Annie even further. She raised her hand, ready to strike him again. But before she could strike him, though, a deafening roar sounded in the distance. The ground around her feet trembled, and wave of heat and dust swept through the warehouse. The men shouted in panic, stumbling as the tremor knocked them off balance.
Annie stared around in shock and confusion. Panic set into her heart.
"What the hell was that?" she muttered.
She jolted back from her daze and hollered orders at her men, "Go! Find out what's going on!"
The men scrambled, fear emanating from them as they scurried towards the door. Annie didn't move for a second, her mind whirling. This wasn't the way it was supposed to go. Something had clearly gone terribly wrong, and she needed to act fast.
Her eyes again flicked to Jim, slumped against the chair, semi-conscious. She grabbed her bag from a nearby table, slinging it over her shoulder. AAAAA

Alexander's hands gripped on the wheel tighter and his breath hitched. Searing hot tears streamed uncontrollably down his face. Tears rolled from his eyes as the realization hit him.
He had fucked her up, he'd shown up too late.
"Emma!" he choked, shaking.
He couldn't even begin to imagine the fear she must have been consumed by, the terror in her eyes, the desperation in her voice. The thought of her all alone, helpless, in a living hell tore into him like a dagger.
he streets spring back to life around him as the initial shock of the explosion wears off. The cars start to move, and pedestrians slowly emerge from their hiding spots with pale faces.
But Alexander could focus on none of it. His eyes remained glued to the towering structure, W2 Holdings, now a scene of utter devastation.
The flashing lights of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks surrounded the building as he approached. Crowds of onlookers had gathered; their faces filled with disbelief and horror. Smoke billowed from the upper floors.
The bombs, he heard a voice in the crowd said shaking, "They defused most. but the one at the 69th, it went off. Took out the floors beneath it."
According to the headline he has read earlier, Emma was being held captive on the 69th floor. A wave of nausea washed over him, and he bit his bottom lip so hard he tasted blood.
He drove past the barricades without hesitation, ignoring the frantic shouts of officers trying to stop him. His car screeched to a halt, parked recklessly. Before anyone could react, Alexander bolted from the vehicle, his legs moving as if possessed. "Sir, you can't go in there!" an officer yelled, attempting to step into his path.
"My wife's in there!" Alexander thundered in a hoarse, pained voice. "And I'm not leaving till she's safe!"
"We understand, sir, but it's not safe! The building's unstable."
Alexander stared back, his face contorting in rage and despair. "I don't care! I'll tear it apart brick by brick if I have to, but frn getting her out!*
Before they could get a hold of him, Alexander dodged them and ran toward the building. The smoke was thicker now. The acrid smell irritated his nostrils as he pushed his way through the building, his heart pounding like a war drum.
The elevators were out of option, the explosion having knocked out the power. Alexander didn't stop; he went straight for the stair, taking the steps three at a time. His chest was burning, his legs screaming in protest, but he didn't stop. Images of Emma flooded his mind, the thought of losing her, of never seeing her again, was unbearable.
"Hold on, Emma," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the chaos. "I'm coming. Just hold on."
