Billionaire Shadow 27

Chapter 27

Emma, who had been sitting on the floor playing with the twins, felt the blood drain from her face. Her hand went limp. letting the baby toy she was holding slip to the floor. She could tell from Marina's venomous expression and Mrs. Walker's look of betrayal that whatever was in that file could destroy everything she had worked so hard to build.

Mrs, Walker turned to Emma, her eyes filled with uncertainty and hurt. "Is this true, Emma?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly as she handed the file over.

Emma took the folder with trembling hands, heart pounding as she skimmed through its contents.

The email address on the file was indeed Emma's, yet the contents left her completely baffled. Recent leaks of high stakes projects had cost the company billions, and the file in her hands painted her as the culprit Emma's pulse raced as she shook her head in disbelief, "I have no idea what this is," she whispered, her voice wavering

Marina scoffed, her tone laced with venom. "Of course, you'd say that. I never expected a thief and a liar like you to admit it. But how dare you betray us after everything we've done for you and your two bastards!"

Emma's eyes hardened at the insult. She could withstand Marinas taunts, but she would not allow her children to be dragged into this. Taking a step closer, her voice low and resolute, she warned. "Watch your words, Marina, I won't stand here and let you insult my kids" Marina's eyes glinted with a cold fury. "How dare you talk back to me?" she snarled, her voice rising. Without warning she lifted her hand and slapped Emma across the face.

The sharp sting of Marina's slap blurred Emma's vision for a moment, and she stared back in shock. Marina's voice cut through the air, harsh and unforgiving "I want you out of this house by the end of the day. You're nothing but a conniving liar, and I won't tolerate seeing you under the same roof as my poor aunt"

Emma turned to Mrs Walker, desperate to explain that she had nothing to do with the emails. But Mrs. Walker's expression remained unreadable, and fear clawed at Emma's heart. Marina cruel words didn't faze her, but the idea that Mrs. Walker might believe the accusations stung deeply.

Taking a shaky breath, Emma steadied herself "I swear, I have nothing to do with these emails. I didn't send any of them."

Marina sneered "Enough with the pity party. Go and pack your things... I'm giving you two hours to get out of here" She laughed coldly, as if she'd already won.

Emma turned away, gathering her twins close to her, fighting back tears that threatened to spill.

She'd hoped things could be different here, but once again, her life seemed to be slipping through her fingers.

"I'm giving you two hours to....

"Enough, Marina." Mrs. Walker's voice cut through the room like a blade. She rose from her chair, her expression stern. "Emma stays

Marina's eyes widened in shock. "Aunt, what are you talking about?"

Mrs. Walker's tone was calm but resolute, "If Emma truly did what she's accused of, she'll be held accountable. But throwing her out without knowing the truth does nothing. We'll get to the bottom of this, together"

Marina's face twisted with anger "You don't need her here to investigate. We can punish her from a distance!"

Mrs. Walker shook her head. "This isn't a decisión made lightly. Marina. I'll be forming a team to investigate thoroughly,

under my rool starting tomorrow. Until then, Emma stays
