Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! -
Chapter 654 The Gift Was Thrown Away
Sydney didn't say anything. She just hugged him tighter.
In her eyes, he used to be gentle, and now he was cold and domineering. Although his personality changed dramatically, he was never vulnerable.
The truth was, however, that he wasn't always vulnerable.
The strong and seemingly impeccable man had such a fatal weakness. It could be imagined what a great blow he had suffered when witnessing his mother's suicide. Every year, on the day of his mother's death anniversary, his personality changed greatly.
If he couldn't get through it, he would still be like this for the next decades.
If his enemies or the Flint Corporation's rival knew about it and took advantage of it, it would be fatal for him.
Thinking about it, Sydney felt more sympathy for Julien.
Julien felt it. His eyes darkened slightly for a moment and soon returned to normal. He gently rubbed his chin against her shoulder, whispering, "Don't worry. I'll be fine."
He meant that he would get through tomorrow safely and would not act rashly.
Hearing this, Sydney instantly understood that he had guessed the reason for her sudden low spirits and her hug.
She had been worried that he would be emotional after being aware that she knew the anniversary of his mother's death.
On the contrary, he was surprisingly calm.
He did not seem to mind that she knew the anniversary of his mother's death, nor did he mind that she knew the coming changes in him on that day.
This showed that her previous cautious move to test him was superfluous.
And he might have already guessed that she would go to him on the day of his mother's death anniversary.
This was good. He guessed it but did not imply that she should not go. It meant he did not mind her seeing him tomorrow. Then she could be bolder when she went to see him tomorrow. She didn't need to worry that he would be stimulated.
Sydney gently let go of the man, raised her eyes, and stared at him for a moment. "I hope so."
After that, she raised her chin and gave the man a kiss on the cheek. "Here you go. I'm leaving."
She pushed open the car door and got out.
Julien sat in the car, touched his face, and laughed softly.
He then rolled down the window and called out to the woman walking toward Skylight Corporation's building.
Sydney stopped and turned back, smiling at him. "What's up?"
Her smile was bright as if she were a sunflower, making people feel happy as they looked at her.
Julien shook his head slightly. "Nothing. I just wanted to call you."
Sydney rolled her eyes at him. "You are so childish. Well, hurry up and go. There will be traffic jams later."
She waved her hand, urging the man to leave.
Julien answered, "Okay, I'll go then."
"Bye."
"I'm leaving," Julien said.
Sydney was amused. "Just go ahead."
Julien pursed his lips, reluctantly rolled up the car window, and drove away.
Sydney stood there, waving her hand and seeing him off until his car was far away. She then put her hand down, turned around, and entered Skylight Corporation's building. Arriving at the top floor, Sydney took out her key card, about to open the door to her office.
When she reached the door of her office, she suddenly saw that the door of the secretary's office was open and that Sean was sitting inside with a frown, seemingly embarrassed. Sydney put down her key card and knocked on the door of the secretary's office.
Sean heard the sound and looked up. When she saw it was Sydney, she stood up in a hurry. "Ms. Raines, you're back."
Sydney nodded with a smile and walked in.
The other secretaries and assistants in the office also got up and greeted her.
Sydney smiled at them. "Just go back to your work. Don't mind me."
"Yes." Hearing Sydney's words, these secretaries and assistants sat back down and continued their work.
Sydney walked toward Sean.
Sean hurriedly stood up. "Please sit here."
"No, I'll leave later." Sydney shook her head.
Sean sat back down without ceremony.
After all, in private, they were friends, so she didn't need to stand on ceremony.
"What can I do for you?" Sean asked curiously.
Sydney put her hand on the desk. "It's not about business. I just saw you frown, so I want to know if you're in trouble."
As she heard Sydney's words, Sean's eyelids drooped gloomily.
Seeing this, Sydney became even more worried. "Tell me what happened. If there is any difficulty, just say it. I'll try to help you."
"No." Sean shook her head, "Nothing happened to me. It's just that I gave Mr. Chase a scarf that I knitted myself and then called him to ask if it fit, but he told me that he had thrown away the scarf."
After Sean had been encouraged by Sydney to pursue Luke, Sean thought about it and felt that Sydney was right.
If she didn't take the initiative to pursue someone she liked, she would never be with that person because it's impossible to get a response without doing anything.
Even if the other party did not necessarily respond to her pursuit, she would have no regrets after she tried.
It just didn't occur to her that the first time she had mustered up the courage to give a gift, she got such a result.
Listening to Sean's words, Sydney was stunned, her pretty eyebrows furrowed. "What? Luke threw away your gift?"
"Yes." Sean nodded, her eyes behind the black-framed glasses full of despondency and bitterness. "Mr. Chase doesn't like me, so he doesn't like the gift from me." Sydney's face darkened. "That was too much. Even if he doesn't like your gift, he can return it instead of throwing it away. How could Luke do that? I'll ask him."
"Please don't do that." Sean hastily took Sydney's arm and shook her head pleadingly. "Please don't ask Mr. Chase. He is not treating me the way he used to. He hates me now. If you ask him why he threw the scarf away, he will think that I told you on him and hate me even more. "
These remarks left Sydney speechless.
Indeed, Sydney knew from Sean that Luke had thrown the scarf.
So if Sydney asked Luke about it, Luke would suspect that Sean had told Sydney on him.
In this way, Luke would indeed hate Sean even more.
"Ms. Raines..." Seeing that Sydney remained silent, Sean was anxious. She tightened her grip on Sydney's arm. "Do you still want to ask Mr. Chase?"
Looking at Sean's nervous and scared look, Sydney couldn't help but sigh. "No."
Sean was relieved. "Thank you."
Sydney looked at her. "But Sean, are you going to accept that Luke threw away the scarf you knitted? It was something you made with affection."
"It's okay." Sean forced a smile. "Mr. Chase hates me, so I had expected that he would rather throw away my gift than return it."
Sydney was silent for a few seconds and then poked Sean in the forehead. "Are you silly?"
