Sir Please Mellow Down A Bit Chapter 360
Chapter 360 The Inexplicable Man
Lyra did not react. The waiter came to serve the dishes and interrupted the conversation between the two of them.
Lyra smelled the fragrance of the food and thought about how to ease the awkward atmosphere. "A friend specially recommended this dish. Try some." She wanted to be as casual as possible.
But... why did the atmosphere get colder? She took a few bites and found that Hank did not move his chopsticks at all, and he was not satisfied.
Lyra ate alone and also felt that the food was tasteless.
After thinking for a while, she was still not sure how she had made him unhappy. "The dishes are not to your liking?" She muttered. Hank tightened his grip on his coffee cup. Just as he was about to take out the bracelet from his pocket, a person walked over.
The figure came to Lyra's side and stopped. "Miss Jones, what a coincidence." A gentle but gloomy voice sounded. Xuanze greeted Lyra at first, then looked at Hank and nodded slightly. "Mr. Barnwell is also here."
Also there?
The bottom of Hank's eyes was already cold, obviously showing hostility. As if he did not notice, Xuanze smiled and said, "I have an appointment upstairs. See you guys around." So, he had specially come over just to say hello to Lyra? The fire in Hank's heart was already burning. Lyra did not notice it at all. She only thought that he was unhappy because of business matters, or that the Barnwell group would have competition with Yuanpeng Group in the future.
After all, Hank was a workaholic. Other than business, he did not care about anything else.
"Okay, Mr. Evans." Hearing the way Lyra addressed Xuanze, Hank had no appetite at all. They were really special to each other.
Lyra even got up to send him to the stairs. By the time she returned, Hank had already put away his phone. He put his hand in his pocket and stared straight at her. That kind of gaze made people very uncomfortable. "Mr. Barnwell, if you think..." Lyra frowned. "What did you call me?" "Huh?" Before Lyra could finish, he interrupted her. Hearing his words, she responded, "Mr. Barnwell?" The man's face turned
cold.
"I still have a meeting. I'll be leaving first."
He got up and left with no hesitation. Lyra felt as if an extremely cold wind had swept past her. She ground her teeth in anger. She always knew that she could not be too humble. This was great. She had been abandoned here for no reason. "If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have ordered so much." When could this man's temperamental personality change? Before the rest of the dishes were served, Lyra ordered all of them to be packed, and then walked out of the restaurant alone with a pile of lunch boxes. On the road far away, the man had been looking at her. The weather was getting cold. Lyra took a few steps and shivered. "I should take a taxi."
She took out her phone and asked for a car. She stood by the roadside and waited. Hank sat in the car and was talking to Jasper on the phone. "Yes, she just came out and is alone."
On the other side, Jasper was speechless. "Hank, there's no reason for you to be jealous. No matter how outstanding Xuanze is, he is divorced after all, and he still has a child. Even if Lyra doesn't choose you, she won't rush to be someone else's stepmother!"
Hank's eyes darkened. If she really wanted to raise a child, then Xuanze was really the best choice.
He now remembered what the doctor said to him when Lyra had an accident. Because of the miscarriage injury, perhaps she would never be a mother in this life.
"Don't push her too hard. You know her personality." Hank watched as Lyra got into the taxi and slowly put down his phone. He reached into his pocket and rubbed the box with the bracelet. There was a bitter smile on his lips. He didn't know what was wrong with him tonight.
Deep in the night, he went home alone. Sister Zhang had gone back to her hometown to deal with Uncle Zhang's property and belongings. The whole villa gave people a depressing cold feeling. Even if the lights were turned on, there was no feeling of home. There was a lonely atmosphere everywhere.
He dragged his feet forward a few steps, his mind full of the expression of Lyra who looked at Xuanze.
What was wrong with him? Just jealous? No, he was also very clear about how far the gap between Lyra and Xuanze was. But when he thought that she might treat a man like she used to treat him, the anger in Hank's chest could not be suppressed.
But...
Maybe not long in the future, there would be a day. The man lowered his head, opened the bottle of wine, and drank it in one gulp.
Dong
Someone knocked on the door. He walked over, but for some reason, his hand just touched the door handle and he fell down.
In the morning, Hank woke up and lay on his bed. There was hot porridge and cakes on the bedside table, and the taste was a little familiar. "Sister Zhang?" he shouted subconsciously. "You're awake!" Jasper heard the voice and rushed in. Seeing that he was fine, he heaved a sigh of relief. "Why were you drinking so much at home? If not..." He swallowed his words halfway. "How do you feel? Why don't you sleep a little longer?" "I'm fine," said Hank, pressing his forehead. He still had a business trip today, so he got up and walked into the bathroom. Jasper took the opportunity to go downstairs and quickly walked out of the villa courtyard. He walked to the car parked at the opposite corner and knocked on the car window.
"He's already awake. He should be fine. I'll get the doctor to come and check again. Thank you very much for yesterday." Lyra had also stayed up the whole night and was about to leave. "That's good. I'll be leaving first." She smiled bitterly.
Last night, after thinking about it, she wanted to express her gratitude to him again. So, she came to the Barnwell family with the packed dishes. She originally thought that Sister Zhang was at home so she could put down the dishes and leave. Unexpectedly, it was Hank who opened the door. He did not even have the time to see her clearly before he fainted. Lyra could not do anything to him alone, so she asked Jasper to come over, but she seriously asked Jasper not to tell Hank about her visit.
Although Jasper had considered secretly telling Hank, thinking of his impulsive appearance yesterday, Jasper, as his best friend, hesitated. Perhaps, Hank really had to take a good rest. Both physically and mentally.
Jasper watched Lyra leave. He turned around and saw the figure standing at the gate. "When did you..." Hank's face was pale, and he asked in a low voice, "Who is that?" Jasper had no choice but to tell him everything. Unexpectedly, Hank was even more disappointed, "She is in a hurry to draw a clear line with me and is not willing to owe me anything." He just wanted to ease their relationship and give each other another chance. Why was it so difficult?
This time, Jasper only shook his head helplessly. "I think you should calm down first. You can't solve all things in a day or two." Hank hesitated for a long time and slowly said, "I can't calm down."
