Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 15

Xander’s POV

I remember I was headed to Sophia’s room and before I entered, I could smell Kane in there and then nothing. I woke up in the cells. What the f**k did I do to be here? I don’t even know how long I’ve been here or what is going on. Jax is literally crying and won’t talk to me. He has given me a horrible headache. The guards won’t answer me, and I can’t mind link down here due to the silver in the walls.

“Jax, dude what happened? You have to talk to me. What did we do?”

“I’m so sorry. I couldn’t help it. You want to reject her, and I love her. I took control and I screwed up big time. I just got so mad when I saw them. I couldn’t stop. She hates us now. We hurt mate.”

“What do you mean we hurt her and who was she with?”

“She was cuddled up with Kane on the couch and I tried to kill him. She tried to stop us, and we threw her across the room. Xan you have to get out of here we need to check on her.”

“We’re not getting out anytime soon.”

I was fuming when he finally told me what happened. I started to punch the wall to release some anger. I didn’t care if it was silver or if my knuckles were bloody and broken. It’s the least we deserved. I continued to pace and punch the wall for who knows how long. I finally heard the door open, and someone walked down here.

I stood at the cell doors hoping someone was coming to let me out so I could go check on Sophia. My breathing was ragged as I waited for someone. Finally, my father appeared in front of me. He was not happy about this.

“Dad, I’m so sorry. Jax finally told me everything and I don’t know how this happened. I didn’t even know it happened until he finally spoke to me. You have to let me out. I have to apologize.”

“First of all, you are not leaving until I know 100% that you have complete control over your wolf.”

“You can drug me if you want to, you have to let me out.”

“Son, you need to tell me the truth now. Is she your second chance mate and are you planning on rejecting her?”

I wasn’t ready to tell him yet, but I didn’t have a choice besides I am sure Kane has spilled his guts. He would have to in order to keep me down here. I dragged my hands down my face and let out a big sigh before I started to talk.

“Yes, she is my second chance mate, and I do plan on rejecting her once she is healthy.”

“Ok well you really need to think this through. She isn’t her. She isn’t going to betray you. Sophia is special and I hope you can see that before it’s too late.”

He turned and walked away. I can’t believe he is leaving me down here. I was pissed all over again. I needed to speak with Kane now. I continued to pace around my cell and punch the wall occasionally.

I yelled at the guards who promptly ignored me. He refused to come speak to me at all. I was slowly going crazy. Hours passed and nothing. No one else came. Eventually someone walked by and slid a tray of food under my door.

“Hey, you I need you to do something for me.”

They just stared at me and didn’t say anything. This was a guard and I’m sure he has been told not to engage with me.

“I need to speak with Beta Kane. Can you tell him? It’s very urgent. You do this for me, and I will repay the favor when I get out.”

The guard simply nodded their head and walked away.

I didn’t sleep all night but continued to pace the floor. I couldn’t see outside but saw a sliver of light coming in through the bottom of the door, so I knew it was the next day.

Someone brought breakfast and like with the last guard I tried to talk to them, but they didn’t even stop. This tray sat with the others untouched. I wouldn’t eat until I spoke with Sophia and made sure she was ok.

“Jax, dad said Sophia was special. Do you know what he is talking about?”

“Yes, but I can’t tell you. You should not mate her because she is special. You should mate her because you love her.”

“That’s the problem. I think I do love her. It was fast but I’m so scared she will tear my heart out and I can’t go through that again. I can’t stop thinking about her, I know she is in a vulnerable state but the way she has handled everything has shown how strong she really is.”

“I understand but man the moon goddess sent her to us and maybe she is making up for the last one. I can make this easy for you, if you reject her, I will be gone. I will never speak to you again. You will be miserable and become a bad Alpha and you will have to watch her love someone else.”

“I just don’t know if I can open up to someone else.”

“You have to try.”

“How? She is already scared of me, and she has every right to be. We hurt her. It’s the one thing we should never do. Also, we have to get out of here.”

“Let me take care of that.”

I don’t know what he was doing but hopefully someone will come soon.

I finally laid down on the bed exhausted and promptly passed out.

“Hey, my favorite son wake up. Come on sleepy head we need to talk.”

I rolled over to find my mom shaking me awake. I was still in the cells, but my mom was sitting on my bed with me. I jumped up and engulfed her in a hug. I started to break down and cry. This is something I have never done. Not even when she left.

“Mom, I screwed up so bad. I don’t know if I can fix this.”

“OH, we can fix this, but we need to talk first. The first thing you need to do is speak with Kane and you need to apologize, and you better mean it 100%. You beat the hell out of that boy when he was doing what you should have been doing.”

“I know mom and I don’t even know where to begin.”

“Well lucky for you he is your brother and will forgive easily but if you do that to him again, I will give him permission to beat you even worse.”

“I wouldn’t stop him if he wanted to repay the favor now. I deserve it and so much more.”

“You are right there. Now for Sophia, this is going to be hard. She is terrified of you. Your sister simply said your name and she had such a bad anxiety arrack that she passed out.”

“OH Goddess! I never meant her any harm and neither did Jax. He has literally been crying since we’ve been down here. How can I show her we didn’t mean it.”

“Time. Give her time. Do not approach her and whatever you do, do not get angry in front of her or near her.”

“Mom, I need time also. I need to let my heart move on from Jules. I’m not over that rejection. I want to love Sophia but can’t yet.”

“I know and it will happen with time. You have to open your heart to her. You need to tell her the truth. Once she knows she will be understanding.”

“She doesn’t know that I am her mate yet. Her wolf hasn’t come back yet. How can I explain this to her? I have her so confused with everything.”

“Trust me I know. I think she suspects things. You haven’t been subtle about things and the way you treat her. You got jealous of Kane for simply watching a movie with her.”

“There is more than watching a movie, they were cuddle upped on the couch together. Well, she went flying off the couch, but they were cuddled up together. There was only one blanket between them. They were way too close and Jax lost it.”

“The mate bond is a powerful thing. You and Jax got jealous and let your wolf have control because you don’t know how to handle these feelings. Do you feel the mate bond more with Sophia than you did with Jules?”

“So much more. With Jules, I felt it and it was amazing but with Sophia it is like she is consuming me. She has taken over my every thought. I can’t do a single thing and not think of her.”

“There was a reason that Jules was your first mate, but I don’t know what that is yet, but I think Sophia was meant to be your forever mate. You both have had to suffer so that you can fully appreciate everything the mood goddess has given you.”

“I never thought of it like that. I am going to try. I am going to try and open my heart to her.”

“I am so glad to hear that son. Now let’s get you out of here. You really stink and need a shower.”

“Thanks mom, love you too.”
