Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 77

Xander’s POV

I hated myself. Jax hated me even more. We have been so mean to Sophia, but I couldn’t let her find out that this person was close to getting her. She would just be scared, and I don’t want that either. The best thing I thought I could do is push her away for now and when this is all over, I will make everything up to her. She thinks I am sleeping with that female warrior, but we brought her in because she is a great tracker and is a great fighter. I had just made Sophia leave while we were having dinner. When I walked back into the dining hall, my dad was giving me a look that I had seen multiple times in my life. He was disappointed with the way I was handling this, but he could get over it.

“Son, you need to go make this right with your mate. You are hurting her. She is going to hate you. Tell her the truth, she can help. She is the one that he wants after all.” My dad said.

“No, I won’t put her in danger again.”

I sat back down and Janet the female warrior, slid closer to me. Sophia was right, she was getting a little too close. I was going to have to set her straight after everyone left.

“Can we please just eat and go back to finish up for the night. I would like to be home early tonight.” I growled at everyone.

We made it back to my office and continued with our calls. We didn’t have many leads. Most Alpha’s hadn’t heard of him. We started with the closet packs and worked our way out. I did save the Blue Lake pack for last. I hated calling them, but it looked like I was going to have to. We made calls until nine when I sent everyone home.

“Guys, it’s nine, let’s call it a night. Janet, can you stay I would like a word please.”

Everyone got up and left except her. After everyone left and I closed the door, I found that she had moved and was standing behind me. Before I could process anything, she threw herself at me and kissed me. I grabbed her hands and threw her away from me. I had a mate, and I didn’t want her. I walked over to my desk and sat down trying to put space between us.

“Janet, I have a mate, and this is not why I brought you on. There is nothing between us and there never will be.” I told her.

She walked around the desk to where I was sitting and spun my chair around, so I was facing her.

“Alpha, you haven’t seen your mate since you brought me here. Are you sure you didn’t bring me here for other reasons?” She asked.

She brought her hand down to my thigh and started to run it up my leg. I was quick to grab her hand and push her back.

“You need to get rid of her now or she is going to cause trouble for our mate.” Jax linked me.

I had to set her straight and place an alpha command on her to leave Sophia alone. I didn’t want her to cause trouble for us.

“Janet, you are dismissed. We will no longer need you on this project. I told you there was nothing between us and you didn’t get the message. You will not talk to Sophia or me unless it is pack related. Do you understand?”

She just stormed out of my office. I had to go find Sophia right now. I was hoping to be home sooner and spend the evening with my princesses, but it was now nine-thirty. I ran up the stairs to our floor and threw our door open to find it completely quiet. No one was there.

“Mom, do you know where Sophia and Lucy are?” I mind linked her.

“I have Lucy. She is sound asleep. Sophia asked me to take her and said she needed some time alone. Sorry, that is all I know.” She linked back.

I knew exactly where she went. She was back in her old room, which is where she always goes when she is upset. She had every right to be mad at me right now. I ran down to the beta floor and flung open her old bedroom door. She wasn’t lying in bed, but I saw her suitcase at the end of it. s**t, this was worse than I thought. I walked into the bathroom and found her over the toilet puking. You could see her tear-stained face. I went to her crouched down and started rubbing her back and telling her how sorry I was.

“Beautiful, I am so sorry. I didn’t know you were still getting sick.”

“Go away!”

“No, I want to talk to you.”

She got up and went to the sink and washed her face off and then brushed her teeth. I just waited until she was done. She walked over to me and c****d her arm back and punched me in the nose. You could hear it break. B***d was gushing out instantly.

“What the hell was that for?”

“You told me you weren’t sleeping with her. She is all I can smell on you, and I felt it. I felt you with her. You hurt me. You knew what you were doing, and you still did it.”

“Let me explain. She kissed me when I was telling her she was dismissed.”

“No, I don’t want to hear it. You told me to leave, so I am. Get out of my room and get out of my life. If you don’t leave now, I will leave the pack grounds and you can’t stop me.” She yelled.

“You will not leave; we are going to talk about this.”

“Are you going to tell me what you are hiding from me?”

“No but just know that everything I am doing is for you and Lucy. I don’t want you to be stressed or worried. Just let me handle it.”

“Do you think not telling me is making me less stressed. You have treated me like s**t for the last few days and then there is the she-wolf I felt you with, it was quick, but I felt it. You lied to me. You promised me that you wouldn’t leave me after Kane died, but you did, you left me. Get the f**k out of here.” She yelled as the tears started to fall down her face.

She left the bathroom and walked out to the bedroom area and put on a sweater. I started to clean myself up before I went back out, but then I heard the door slam shut. She left. She really left. I took off after her and caught her before she made it to the first landing. I picked up her and threw her over my shoulder and hauled her back to the bedroom. She sprinted to the bathroom and slammed the door and locked it. I could hear her start to vomit again.

“Sophia, let me in please.”

I got no answer. I couldn’t hear her puking anymore, but she wasn’t answering me either.

“Please talk to me beautiful.”

Still nothing.

“Jax, what can we do?”

“This is all on you, I did nothing wrong. I have been telling you this whole time to include her and you didn’t. You have broken multiple promises to her. If she leaves so, do I. I want my mate. I want Stella.”

“Please, I am begging you, beautiful, please open the door.”

I can hear her crying now. She still wouldn’t open the door and I felt like s**t that I did this to her, but she has to understand I am doing this for her. I just want her safe and stress free. She shouldn’t have to worry about someone trying to take her. I would wait here all night. I sat against the door in case she tried to open it and I fell asleep.

I must have fallen asleep because the room was brightly lit with sunlight. I stretched and that’s when I heard her. She was vomiting again.

“Beautiful, please let me in so I can help you.”

She didn’t answer me. I heard the shower kick on.

“I have to go to my office, but please come down and we can have breakfast together. Just mink link me.” I mind linked her.

I ran to my room and quickly changed my clothes and headed to my office. When I got there, everyone had already started, and Janet didn’t show up.

“Hey, your late today and Janet isn’t here either.” Konner said.

“Sorry, long night and Janet won’t be returning. Luke, do you have someone else we can bring in? Preferably male.”

“Ya I can find someone.”

“We are down to a few packs to call, and we haven’t figured anything out yet. I am going to call the Blue Lake Pack. I was saving them for last. I don’t want to call them.” I told everyone.

“I know son, but we have too.”

I walked over to my desk and picked up the phone and dialed Alpha Nathan’s phone number. It rang several times before he picked it up.

“Alpha Nathan.”

“Alpha Nathan, it’s Alpha Xander. How are you?”

“Well, if it isn’t the almighty Alpha Xander. Do what do I owe the pleasure of speaking with you?”

“Alpha Nathan, we are looking for some information regarding someone called the Rouge King. You haven’t heard of him, have you?”

“Well, if you’re looking for him that means that you are in some sort of danger. What a predicament you have.”

“I take that as a yes.”

“Listen, I will tell you what I know but not over the phone. Come to my pack today and we can discuss what is going on.”

“Fine, I will be there this evening.”

I slammed the phone down hard enough that it cracked. I was pissed. I had to play his games if I wanted any information.

“Konner, pack your bags. We are going to the Blue Lake Pack today.”

“Does he know something?” asked Luke.

“He says he does but won’t discuss it over the phone and insists that we come to his pack.”

“Be careful, son.”

We all got up and left. I never got a mind link from Sophia about breakfast. I went to the dining hall to see if she was there, but it was after ten and mostly cleared out. I ran up to her old room. I was met with a locked door. I banged on the door in hopes that she would open it, but she wouldn’t. I could use my key, but I didn’t want to upset her more.

“Beautiful, please open the door.” I mind linked her.

I was met with silence, so I tried again.

“Beautiful, I have to go to another pack but will be back later.” I linked her again, but she had put up a block, so she didn’t get it.

I walked away feeling like I was still doing the wrong thing, but I had to protect her at all costs. I would do anything to keep her safe.
