Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 79

Xander’s POV

I don’t know for sure what happened, but Sophia had attacked Janet. I wasn’t trying to blame her when I said that she took it wrong. I just wanted to know what happened. When she turned to me, and her eyes were glowing, I knew that it was Stella in control and not Sophia. After she ran off, I yelled at everyone to leave and went to Janet.

“What did you do?”

“Why do you think I did anything?”

“Because Sophia wouldn’t attack anyone without a reason.”

“She is an emerald wolf, she is uncontrollable.”

“No, she isn’t. Now tell me the truth.”

“I was walking through the foyer, and she just attacked me. She was yelling at me telling me that if I came near you again, she would kill me.”

“I don’t believe you and when I talk with her, I will know the truth. Remember she is an emerald wolf, and she can project images of things she has seen or been through.”

I walked away from her knowing that I had to talk to Sophia when I got back. I think if I went to her now it would just be a fight. I went to my parents’ room to talk with my mom and see Lucy. I walked in and Lucy ran to me and hugged my leg.

“Daddy, I missed you.”

“I missed you to princess, but I have to leave for the night. How about tomorrow you and I take mommy to a nice dinner? What do you want?”

“Chicken nuggets!”

“We will see about that. Why don’t you go play and I am going to talk with grandma for a while.”

She ran off to play and I turned to my mom and just sighed.

“Mom, I screwed up so much. I don’t know if I can fix this.”

“What did you do?”

I explained everything to her, from pushing her away to what happened that night with Janet. How she kept getting sick. How she had moved back into her old room. She just sat there staring at me as I finished telling her everything. The look she was giving me told me how disappointed she was in me.

“I have no words for you. You are messing this up big time. I know you were trying to protect her, but she is a strong girl. She could help if you told her. You forget what she has overcome in this lifetime. You also forget that she just lost the other half of her. I know you lost your best friend, but she lost a mate. She gave her soul to two people. One of them is dead and the other is acting like a jackass. You need to leave. I will watch over her and Lucy until you get back and when you get back you will sit down and tell her everything or I will talk with your father, and I may have him step in because right now you are an idiot.”

“I know mom and I will. Please tell her that I love her and that when I am back tomorrow, we are going to talk.”

I got ready to go and met Konner down in the foyer. We walked out to our car and took off. I wasn’t in the talking mood but this was Kane’s brother, so it came naturally to him.

“Alright spill, what happened? There is a lot of gossip going around right now.”

“I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Too bad, were in this car for the next two hours together so start talking or I won’t leave you alone.”

I ended up spilling my guts to him. He just stared out the passenger window after I was done. He didn’t talk for a long time.

“Did you know that Kane called me three times a week?”

“No, I didn’t.”

“He loved her so much. He loved her before you accepted the mate bond. He was planning on running away with her if you went through with your rejection. If he was here right now, he would kick your a*s. I am half tempted to do it for him.”

We didn’t talk the rest of the way there. We arrived at the gates and were stopped by their guards.

“We have meeting with Alpha Nathan.”

“Are you Alpha Xander?”

“Yes, and this is my beta Konner.”

“Per pack policy, I have to search your vehicle and, if it is clear, you are free to enter.”

Ten minutes later we arrived at the pack house and Alpha Nathan walked out to greet us.

“Hello gentleman, welcome to Blue Lake Pack. Why don’t you come in and we can talk in my office? I will have an omega take your bags to your room.”

We walked into his house and followed him to his office. We entered and sat down at a table in there.

“Now, please tell me why you are looking for the rouge king?” He asked me

“He has threatened my mate and thinks that she belongs to him.”

“Why does he want her?”

“That is information that I am not willing to discuss at this time.”

“If you can’t share with me, then I am afraid that I can’t help you.”

We had a stare down for a few minutes and I talked with Jax.

“Do you think we can trust him?” I linked Jax

“I don’t get a bad vibe from him. People are going to start hearing about her anyway. It’s better to be up front about it.”

“What will it be Alpha Xander?” Alpha Nathan asked.

“Look what I am about to tell you, I want it to stay in this room. I am just trying to protect my mate.”

“I understand, I would do anything for my mate, she is my world.”

“I didn’t know you found your mate, congratulations.”

“Now about your mate please.”

“She is an emerald wolf.”

“As I thought, I heard rumors but wanted you to confirm it first.”

“What do you know about the rouge king?”

“I know that he is ruthless and will take whatever he wants without consequences. He has attacked my pack a few times. You aren’t the only one with a special mate. Mine has some unique healing abilities. He wanted her to work heal his pack members after fights but so far, I have been able to keep him away. He hasn’t tried too hard yet, but I think it is coming. I’ve also heard of him taking anyone else he wants.”

“I am sorry. I didn’t know any of this.”

“I haven’t made it public yet. Look I know our packs have history, but I think it’s time we put that past us and maybe form an alliance.”

“I agree.”

“Let’s go have dinner and then we can work out the details.”

We walked to their dining hall and had dinner. I had the chance to meet his mate, Brooke. She was a beautiful lady and was very kind. We got up to go back to his office when the alarm bells went off.

“Were under attack.” Alpha Nathan said, as he took off running.

Konner and I took off after him to help him. He had a large pack but there were probably five hundred wolves coming into their pack lands. We both shifted and started to attack. I started taking down each wolf I got too. They were rouges, you could smell them, and you could taste it in their b***d when you bit into them. He had warriors coming out of the woodworks. It was turning into a b***d bath out here. I tried to take down as many I could and if I saw anyone in trouble, I tried to run to them. We finally got a handle on them and pushed them back. I started surveying the damage. They had some injured wolves, but it looked like there were no casualties. I shifted back and started helping people. Someone threw some shorts at me. I was walking people to the pack hospital and that is where I saw Alpha Nathan’s mate at work. She would place her hands on them, and a white light would shoot out of her hands and the person’s injuries would start to heal. It took her just seconds to heal some serious injuries. It was amazing.

“Alpha Xander, thank you for your help. I am afraid we are going to have to wait until tomorrow to continue this.”

“Of course, what can I help you with?”

“Nothing, but I will let you know that we were able to capture a few wolves and they are being held in our cells. My guess is this was the rouge king’s doing.”

“Do you mind if I join you while you talk with them?”

“That is why I am telling you this. I will have someone show you to your rooms.”

Once I got to my room, I took a shower and crawled into bed. I knew it was useless, but I tried to mink link Sophia.

“Beautiful, I love you and miss you. When I get home, I am going to fix this.”

I know it went through, but she didn’t respond back. I closed my eyes trying to let sleep consume but it took a while.
