Sophia’s Revenge – Chapter 81

Xander’s POV

“Alpha Nathan, I would really appreciate it if we could interrogate the prisoners. I would like to get back to my mate.”

“I understand, but I really need to get my pack back to normal. I have injured members to deal with and I need to get new patrol schedules.”

“Mind if I go down there by myself?”

“Not at all, please try not to kill them. Also, let me send you with my beta. He can assist you with whatever you need.”

We walked down to their cells and his beta Bret showed me to the first cell that was holding someone from the attack two days ago. It took us two days to get things cleaned up. Attacks can be brutal on a pack, and they can destroy the land and buildings. I was happy to help but I needed to get back to Sophia. He opened the first cell and pulled someone out and took them to another room. He slammed them down on a chair and tied their hands and feet down to the chair. I could tell he used silver chains as they were screaming.

“Rouge, we can do this the easy way or the hard way, it’s really up to you.” I said.

“f**k you.”

“Ok, the hard way.”

I got up and walked to the table at the back of the room and picked up a simple whip. It was laced with wolf’s bane. It would hurt but not kill. I walked back over to him and brought the whip down on him ten times before I stopped.

“Ready now, or I can get something with silver.”

He just spit at my feet. So, I walked back over and picked up another whip but this time it had silver spikes in it. I walked back over, and this wolf had nothing but hate for me. I brought this down on him five times. I wanted him to talk not die so I was taking it slow.

“Tell me this, who sent you?”

“f**k off.”

I will say this, this guy didn’t scream or flinch anytime I hit him. I don’t know if I would get him to talk or not. This was going to get extreme. Beta Bret just sat in the back watching. I walked over and grabbed a silver knife, and I didn’t look at him. I just shoved it in the top of his arm.

“Now we’re going to let this sit here and if you talk, I will remove it and if you don’t, it will continue to be pushed down your arm. Who ordered the attack?”

I still didn’t get anything out of him, so I walked back over and twisted the knife around and shoved it in further and started to drag it down his arm. He did finally let out a scream.

“Are you ready now? I just want to know who ordered the attack.”

“Fine, it was the rouge king.”

“And who is the rouge king?”

“He goes by the name King Jag, but I don’t think that is his real name.”

“What does he want?”

“Just kill me, because if I ever get out of here, I am as good as dead.”

“You keep talking and we might be able to help you.”

“Can we take this somewhere else? If they hear this and get back to him, they will kill my family.”

“For now, you will go back to your cell.”

Beta Bret released him and took him back to his cell. I went back upstairs to talk with Alpha Nathan and let him know what I found out and that he can finish the rest himself. I was ready to go home.

“Alpha Nathan, we need to finish this so I can go home. I got one of them to talk.”

“Fine, let’s go to my office.”

He led me to his office, and we sat down at the table. I let him know what I found out and that he could handle the rest of it and that I would return in a few weeks to start forming a plan. He wanted to get an alliance signed tonight before I left. It took us until almost midnight to get everything worked out, but we were able to get an alliance drawn up and signed. I sent Konner a mind link that we were leaving first thing in the morning. I went and passed out in my bed and slept like a baby all night and woke up around eight thirty. I sent Konner a quick mind link telling him that we would eat and then head out. We were finally on the road by ten. We had a two-hour drive; I should be able to have lunch with Sophia. I so hope she was ready to talk to me.

“Xan, I really hope that when we get back you can get this thing with Sophia worked out, but you need to handle Janet. I know she is lying about what happened.”

“I know and I planned on taking care of that right away. First, I have to get Sophia to talk to me. I haven’t figured out how yet, but I will figure something out.”

“Take her flowers. Anytime Ashley is mad, I take her, her favorite flowers and that always softens her up.”

“Not a bad idea. Maybe her favorite candy too. We need to stop at the store.” I said.

Two and, half hours later, we got back to the pack house, and I ran up to her old room because I knew that was where she would be. I knocked on the door but of course she wasn’t answering me. I tried to send a mind link and still got nothing. She was going to talk to me whether she liked it or not. Konner suddenly came running out of his room yelling “I’m going to be dad!”

I stopped trying to get into Sophia’s room and went to congratulate him. He was beyond excited. As happy as I was for them, it always made me a little jealous that Sophia would never get this. I knew how much she wanted it.

“Ashley, have you seen Sophia?” I asked her when she came out of the room.

“Ya, she is in that room. She went with me to the doctor and then back here. I haven’t seen her since, but I didn’t hear her leave either.”

“Thanks.”

They ran back into their room to celebrate. I continued to knock on her door. I got tired of her ignoring me. She was at least going to hear me out. I unlocked the door and stepped into her room. The second I went in and shut the door I could smell her b***d. It felt like my heart fell out of my chest. I ran through the room looking for her. I finally found her in the bathroom. She was lying face first on the bathroom rug with b***d around her head.

“SOPHIA!” I yelled as I ran over to her. I checked to see if she was still breathing and she was, so I rolled her over and she had a huge gash on her forehead and that is where the b***d was coming from. I quickly picked her up and ran her to the pack hospital. It wasn’t that far from the pack house. As soon I walked through the doors to the hospital, I could feel her start to stir in my arms. Doc met us at the door with a gurney. I laid her down and she opened her eyes and looked at me finally.

“Hello Beautiful.”

“Go away.” She yelled at me and rolled over on the bed. Doc pushed the bed through the doors, and I just stood there wanting to go back but I know she doesn’t want me. I walked over to the wall and started punching it out of anger. My mom came out of nowhere and stopped me.

“Son, stop what you are doing. You have no one to blame but yourself.”

I stopped and looked at her and just broke down right there. My mom wrapped her arms around me, and I just cried to her.

“It will be ok; you will make this right.”

Doc walked out a few minutes later and came over to where we were.

“She is fine, she got dizzy and fell and hit her head. She has a concussion. I started an IV as she is dehydrated again and gave her some meds. You can go see her now.”

I got up and went into her room. She was laying on her side and had her back to me. I just stood there for a second watching her. Goddess, I missed her, what was I thinking.

“Beautiful, can you at least let me explain things to you?”

She didn’t answer me or even move.

“I am so sorry for what I did. For everything. I know I promised not to keep things from you, but I thought I was protecting you. Thats all I want is to protect you. That’s why I pushed you away so you wouldn’t figure it out. It killed me every time you came to see me. I missed everything about you. When Janet approached me, she literally jumped on me and kissed me. I threw her to the ground. I didn’t sleep with her. She kissed me and I threw her to the ground that’s it.”

“I still felt it. I felt the k**s. I felt it in my chest. It hurt. It didn’t last long but it hurt so much.”

She still had her back to me, and I could see that she had started to cry again. I was breaking her heart. I was an a*****e.

“Ya, you are, and you better make this right,” Jax said to me.

I walked over and went and crawled into bed with her. I wrapped my arms around her and just held her.

“Beautiful, I am so sorry, please believe me, that I would do anything to make this right.”

“I wish you would have died and not Kane. He loved me all the time. He never made me question his love.”

That one sentence ripped my heart out and I started crying again because she was right. I didn’t deserve this life and Kane did. I just continued to hold her as we both cried. She suddenly jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. She made it just in time to start puking again. Goddess why was she still getting sick? I followed behind her and held her hair up and rubbed her back while she kept vomiting in the toilet. She finally stood up and turned to me. She looked rough. She had lost weight and had dark circles under eyes and the big gash on head was closed and healing but was still swollen. I pulled her close to me and picked her back up and carried her over to the bed. I put her back on the bed and held her hand.

“Beautiful, please believe when I saw that I will do better, I will better.”

“Then tell me what you are hiding? Where have you been for four days?”

I explained everything to her. She just took it in and didn’t say anything.

“You know, you promised me to never keep anything from me. Don’t you think it would be better if I knew that someone was that close? That way I could be more on guard.”

“I didn’t think of it like that. I never said I was a smart man. I just wanted to protect you and not cause you more stress.”

“See this is why you need to tell me.”

There was a knock on the door and Doc walked in with some machine with him.

“Oh, sorry Sophia, I can come back if like.”

“No, it’s fine.”

He came all the way in and Sophia rolled onto her back and lifted her shirt up.

“Beautiful, what is going on?”

“Just watch.”

Doc placed some gel on her tummy and placed a wand on her belly. He moved it around for a minute and that’s when I heard it. A heartbeat.

“Beautiful, your pregnant?”

“Ssshhhh, watch the screen.”

I looked back up at the screen and Doc continued to move the wand around and suddenly another blob appeared and another heartbeat. Oh goddess, it’s twins.

“Beautiful, you’re having twins?”

“Yes I am. I will not hesitate to take these babies and leave. The example of a man that you are is not good and I want better for them.”

Her words hit home. She was right. I was setting a bad example for Lucy and these unborn pups. If Lucy had a mate that was doing the things I, did I would kill him. I had to show set the example for how a mate should be not only because my mate deserves better but because my kids deserve it and so I am supposed to be a leader for this pack, and I sucked at it, but I would be better.

“Alpha sir, are you ok? You don’t look, ok?” Doc asked me, snapping out of my thoughts.

I jumped up and threw my arms around her. I was so excited that I couldn’t contain it. I was going to be a dad again. I was going to get to experience everything this time.

“Excuse me Alpha but I need to finish this and you’re making it hard.” Doc said.

“Sorry.” I mumbled.

I sat back down and watched the rest of her ultrasound. Doc said everything was good and she could go home after getting some fluid.
