Substitute for The Alpha King -
Chapter 28: Enemies are gone
When Hannah arrived at work the next morning. She was glad that Ashley and Mike were gone from the company. They are the only ones who made the environment hostile and it was good not having them around. It made her focus on her work more without having to have Ashley come to her desk almost every day just to discredit her work as if hers were any better. Hannah had that kind of lifestyle, she just wasn't the kind of woman who went around trying to bring other people down.
However, the jealous Ashley Harold was like that and it got worse ever since Hannah joined the company and had her boyfriend as the boss. She just wasn't happy with it since Mike was the fool who couldn't keep it together and kept flirting with Hannah who didn't even look his way. She doesn't even know of his existence in the company. Most times she forgets that there was someone like him around, Hannah just doesn't want to have anything to do with him, he was a fool who was never meant to be in her life, and now that he was her boss, it was unavoidable not to bump into him at the office or had him trying to call her to his office.
It was annoying and strange and she just hated it but then there was nothing that could he do. She couldn't even have him reported since she hasn't been long at the company and doesn't want to undergo through all those things.
It was better to have Shawn beat him up so that he will have to stay in the hospital for so long and even though when he is being discharged, he just will need help walking around so he will stay in his apartment recovering rather than appearing at work looking ridiculous. He cared a lot about his looks even though he wasn't really that handsome, and he did not want his workers to see him covered in bruises. He had an image to uphold in the company.
As for Ashley, she had taken leave from, work, Hannah bet her body was still hurting from all those beatings she did not expect and it came to her, perhaps if she had kept her mouth shut then none of this would have happened. However, she had no regret and if the situation present itself again, she would still beat her up so that she would never learn to talk bad about Shawn ever again.
"It's so quiet today" one of her colleagues admitted as she tosses the ball pen in her hand to the table
"Yes, it is," The other leans against her seat. They were going to be a lot more relaxed as well with no one supervising them and bossing them around like Ashley does all the time.
"However, Hannah did not bother to join them in their discussion even though she knew they were talking about Ashley, she was the only one who forgot that she was also an employee and shouldn't boss anyone around.
"Who knows what happened to her? She doesn't ask for leave and comes to work every day as if this was her father's company"
"It's a good thing it isn't her father's company otherwise some people will be the one who suffers it all"
She had no clue that this was not oblivious to them, she was the only one who seemed to be her target all the time. Ever since she arrived at the company, it seems that all of Ashley's attention has been shifted to her, it seems as if she only comes to work because of her and nothing else, the first thing that she does when she arrives is to taunt and try to make her life a living hell. But then, so many times that she has tried to make her life a living hell, Hannah fought her back, she was not the kind of Woman to back down from any fight at all. She was going to give her a taste of her own medicine someday, and when the opportunity presented itself, she doesn't think twice about beating the crap out of her.
"Hannah" Her Other boss called out to her as he drew towards her desk. She lifted up her head from the computer and looked at the frail old man in Rimmed glasses.
"What is it, sir? Do you need something in particular?"
"It's about the documents that you submitted"
"Do you need me to revise it or something?"
"Revise?" He chuckled. "Of course not, I loved all the work that you turned in on my desk this morning. The idea is going, and the creative thinks it is the best this month, the pattern will still need a lot of adjusting but it is perfect, that is not your job. Everything you put out there is perfect, how come I didn't know that such a real talent existed in the company?"
"Thank you, sir"
Hannah was lost for words to say, she was a talent but girls like Ashley would never let her rise In the company, they would always want to sabotage her work and bring her down in so many ways, she has seen it happen time and again and for awhile has tried to ignore it but then she just kept pushing it till she hits the red button and that was when Hannah's could not take it any longer and had to give her a taste of her own medicine.
"Keep your head down and keep up the good work, Hannah"
"Thanks, sir"
Watching the boss walk away, she reclined back to her seat, aware that her colleagues were looking at her. She doesn't want to meet anyone's gaze so she focuses on her work.
"Someone's hard work is getting noticed" A male colleague whispered and the other glared at him. They don't want Hannah to hear all that.
"Shhh, you better keep it down a little"
Hannah shook her head not bothering to listen to any of them but then they were right, when Ashley was around, it seemed that her hard work was not being noticed by anyone at the top, he wondered if her work got to the doorsteps of the Managers and others who were to make the final decision or does it end up in the trash. She couldn't question anyone, not even Mike or Ashley about it since she tried to avoid those two like the plague but they were the ones who kept coming her all the time.
Though they were annoying, Hannah still had to live with that, she could not afford to turn in her resignation letter when she had not gotten another job, this might be a big city but she couldn't start the entire process of job hunting all over again, not when she needed the money. She cared about it more than anything.
The rest of the day at work, Hannah got very busy, she focused on other projects that were on her desk before getting off work to return back home to Shawn. When she unlocked the door and stepped into the house, she noticed that the room was dark and turned on the light in the living room only to find out that he was gone.
