Chapter 373

Artemis headed back to the Luther residence with Bailey and the three kids.

Caridee hurriedly went up to them. She then wrapped her hands around Bailey's arm and greeted her warmly.

Bailey reached out to pinch the girl's cheek. Raising her brows, she uttered, “I'm afraid you just greeted me in vain because I didn't prepare any gifts.”

Hearing that, Caridee rolled her eyes at Bailey. “Do you think I expect a heartless woman like you to give me a monetary gift?”

Bailey couldn't help but chuckle. “I heard that you admire the Legendary Racer, Adhira. It just so happens that there will be an International Racecar Tournament soon, and the venue is in Hallsbay, so I'll find a way to get an autographed photo for you.”

“For real?” Caridee jumped for joy and continued, “Bailey, are you serious? Can you really get Adhira's autographed photo?”

Bailey arched her brows. “What's wrong? Are you doubting my words?”

“No. Of course not.” Caridee immediately waved her hands. “You are so great that I don't believe anyone but you. It's just that the Legendary Racer has never revealed their face to anyone, and they're eccentric. No one has ever received an autographed photo from them before. Are you sure you can get it?”

Bailey stretched out her hand to pinch the girl's cheek again. “I'll try my best.”

The latter was speechless.

“Why is an educated and elegant girl acting like an overly excited fangirl instead of staying at home obediently?”

Felicity's voice rang from the top of the stairs. There was a hint of harshness and disapproval in her tone.

Caridee stuck her tongue out at that. She then leaned close to Bailey's ear and remarked, “Bailey, my mom is not a mean person. She was also instigated by Rhonda in the past, which was why she kept opposing you. Please don't take her words to heart. She is now regretting it, but she has always had a strong character. I guess she is just unwilling to let go of her pride and apologize to you. Please bear with her.”

Bailey shook her head with a smile. “I've never taken her words to heart. If I held a grudge against your mother, your brother would be the one who would suffer in the end. I can't bear to see him suffering from a headache.”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk!”

Hearing that, Caridee was at a loss for words and nudged her brother's shoulder. “Hey, Artemis, how did you make this woman submissive to you? Despite her wild personality, you still managed to train her to submit to your authority.”

Giving her the cold shoulder, Artemis strode toward the living room with Bailey.

“You're back?” Felicity asked with a stern expression.

Artemis didn't give any response. Instead, he turned to cast Bailey a glance.

Bailey also remained silent. She lowered her gaze to look at the three little ones.

Maxton obediently called out, “Grandma.”

Susan puckered her lips. Following that, she also cooed, “Grandma.”

Felicity's smile widened. She then gazed at Zayron expectantly.

Zayron pouted and harrumphed, but he didn't follow suit and addressed the woman as “Grandma.” Instead, he called out, “Creepy Granny.”

Instantly, an eerie silence descended over the space.

Felicity's smile froze.

Bailey immediately pulled her son behind her and stared at Felicity with a frown. “This child has been too spoiled. Please don't be mad at him.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she took out an embroidered box from her bag and handed it over to Felicity. “I heard that you have been looking for the extant scripture of Master Yisroel from the Church of St. Victor. It happens that I have a copy here. I'm thinking of fulling your wish by giving this to you.”

As Felicity heard that, her utterly tense face lit up with pleasure. “I-Is this really Master Yisroel's handwritten scripture?”

As soon as she finished speaking, she seemed to realize that her reaction was a bit too strong and immediately shut her mouth.

What an eccentric old woman!

Bailey couldn't help but sigh.

She was aware that the reason Felicity decided to accept her was that the latter didn't want Artemis to marry Waverly's daughter, Zoey.

That said, Bailey wondered how Felicity would feel or react if the woman found out that Bailey was, in fact, the daughter of the Shurmer family.

She will probably go berserk.

Bailey sighed inwardly.

Fate, sometimes, is strange and likes to play tricks on people.

“Max, could you take this scripture to Grandma's room?”

Since Felicity was in need of getting out of this awkward situation, Bailey was willing to give her the out as she didn't want Artemis to feel caught in the middle.

Maxton reached out to take the embroidered box from her mother and promptly ran upstairs.

Felicity's expression immediately brightened. Although the way she looked at Bailey still carried a hint of awkwardness, it was much more amiable than before.

Artemis glanced at her. His eyes flashed with a trace of appreciation.

He understood that she was controlling her temper for him as she didn't want him to get into an awful predicament.

Just then, Gerald entered the house. As he saw them standing at the landing, he couldn't help but ask, “What are you standing there for? Hurry up and ask them to sit on the couch.”

Her husband showed up just in time to drag her out of this awkward situation.

She then softened her tone. “We'll be family in the future, and we'll get to see each other every day, so there's no need to be so formal. Just make yourselves at home.”

Bailey arched her brow.

She wondered if she had at last obtained her future mother-in-law's acknowledgment.

“Don't worry. I will make myself comfortable here. My man and my children belong to the Luther family. The place where they are is my home.”

Felicity was rendered speechless for a moment.

In the tearoom of the Chivers residence, Glen was drinking coffee with Edmund.

“Eddy, if something is meant to happen, it will. Otherwise, don't push it. You are smart enough to understand simple logic, no?”
