Chapter 634

Yvette was getting impatient. Artemis had lost his memory, which made it the perfect opportunity for her to rise to the top.

She had to get rid of Bailey as soon as possible to annihilate any risks of future complications.

By then, Yvette had dedicated all of her power and assets—even her life—to that cause. She had no room for failure, and her plan had to succeed.

If she failed, she would lose everything that she had ever owned.

Moreover, it was such a golden opportunity. She could not fail.

If she truly failed that time around, more than twenty years of her life would go down the drain. Furthermore, her position as the princess of Tarragon would have served no purpose.

Everyone has been moved to Hallsbay? All right. Got it. Give me two days to plan. I'll inform you once there's a conclusion. Be careful and cautious whenever you're with Artemis, Don't let him sense anything amiss.

As she scanned the text on her phone screen, Yvette tightened her grip around her phone.

This time, she was determined to ensure that Bailey suffered a horrible death.

Meanwhile, Bailey had tampered with the paternity test report as Juliana had requested.

However, she could not think straight as she could not shake away the feeling of an incoming calamity.

The Hoffman family had thousands of years of inheritance with unparalleled influence over its kingdom. Many desired the position of the head of the Hoffman family.

Juliana had made an assertive return and had gotten pregnant quickly. Now that she had secured her position, it was no secret that many people would go after her behind her back.

It would have been better if the father of the child that Juliana was carrying was from their kingdom.

Unfortunately, she was pregnant with a foreigner's child. Her old-fashioned and conservative family would never accept that reality.

Thus, many people had their eyes on the child growing inside her womb. Once they had the confirmation that the child was a b*stard child, they would immediately displace her without hesitation, or worse, they might kick her out of the household.

Bailey was not worried if they used the Hoffman family's medical system to run the paternity test. She was confident that she could hack into the system and tamper with the result.

However, she was worried that they might resort to underhanded tactics and smuggle amniotic fluid samples out of the country to get them tested by somebody else.

The world had unlimited resources. As powerful and talented as she was, Bailey could not keep the truth under wraps forever.

In the study, Bailey presented the possible scenarios and her concerns to Zeke.

Upon hearing what the woman had said, Zeke remained silent for a moment before parting his lips to speak, saying, “Just go with the flow. If the truth got exposed, then just allow it to come to light. If she gets kicked out by her family, I'll step up and take her in. That would shut down all the insults and humiliation thrown at her.”

Bailey smiled lightly at Zeke's reply. “I'm relieved to hear you say that. What about Shirley? What do you plan to do with her?”

Zeke's gaze hardened as a dangerous glint flickered across his eyes. “I've gotten to the bottom of that. She did, in fact, stole my sperm. But, the sperm has been stored in the freezer for too long and are not viable anymore. Yet, her impregnation procedure was a success. Tell me, how do you think that happened?”

Bailey narrowed her eyes. After a moment of pondering, she guessed, “Your sperm has been switched out for someone else's?”

A sarcastic smirk appeared on Zeke's face.

If it only ends there!

“In order for Shirley to be related to the Shurmer family and to be the matriarch of the Shurmer family, Mrs. Gourd had gone to the unthinkable extreme and tricked her own daughter. She had found some random guy and taken his sperm and inseminated her own daughter with them.” A look of disgust flashed across Zeke's visage as he presented the information to Bailey.

Bailey's jaw fell to the ground. “You're telling me that Shirley has no clue of this outrageous incident?”

“You bet. Mrs. Gourd did not dare to tell her. That foolish woman still believed that the child in her womb is mine. She would never expect to be tricked by her own mother.”

Bailey stammered, dumbfounded by the news she was told. Some people could really do anything to get into wealthy families. Only then did Bailey realize how naïve she had been.

“Do you plan to expose her?”

Zeke looked at Bailey before answering, “Not yet for now. That woman knows that Juliana is pregnant with my child. If I expose her, she might harm Juliana out of desperation.

Bailey thought it over and nodded. “Fair. All right, then. As long as you have your boundaries in mind. Since Shirley isn't pregnant with your child, then you don't have to waste your time thinking of any plans to terminate the pregnancy. She can keep the baby if she wants to, but she'll also have to deal with the consequences herself.”

“Yeah.”

Meanwhile, at a mansion in the suburbs, Zoey threw the doors open, disrupting the peace. With a few huge strides, she entered the building and stood in front of Sofie anxiously. “I heard that Yvette had arrived in Hallsbay. Why aren't you doing anything to get rid of her? If she doesn't die, how am I supposed to take my place?”

A look of displeasure flashed across Sofie's face. She looked at Zoey with an icy gaze before enunciating, “Who else can stand against Bailey besides her? You? Do you have the power to go against Bailey?”

Zoey was taken aback.

Admittedly, she did not.

How could she compete with Yvette?

Yvette was the daughter of the previous head of Tarragon—the princess of Tarragon. Her father must have left her with immense power when he was still alive.

That was only one of Yvette's many strengths that Zoey could never compete with.

“Then what do you plan to do? If you keep delaying, she's going to successfully cultivate a relationship with Artemis. By then, Artemis would be her protection, and she would become the second Bailey. It'll be easier to climb to the sky than it will be to kill her,” Zoey argued.

Sofie turned away slowly before chuckling lightly. “The second Bailey? Hah. You've overestimated her. She's not even worthy to carry Bailey's shoes, much less take Bailey's place. Don't you worry, I've already lured her into sending all of the resources that her late father had left her to Hallsbay. Soon, she would go down along with Bailey. When the time comes, all you have to do is to sit back, relax, and enjoy the gains.”

Zoey's eyes lit up as joy colored her face. “Really? You've already arranged everything?”

“What else could I have done? Wait for you to strategize?”

Zoey was rendered speechless.

Sofie rose from the couch slowly. “Let's go. I'll take you to the massage room so that you can relax. Don't be wound up so tight all the time. You'll lose your mind. I came back to help you achieve your dreams, so I won't let you down. Just be patient, and wait.”

“All right, then.”

In the meantime, Lionel and Victoria walked out of the divorce registry of City Hall, each of them holding their divorce certificate in their hands.

Standing on the top of the staircase, Victoria raised her head to look at the falling snow before stating wistfully, “In the past, there has always been a sense of guilt weight my heart down. I've always thought that my father was the reason the Gezmond family was destroyed. That was why I had never resisted when you returned to seek revenge. However, once I found out the truth behind my mother's death, my entire world was turned upside down. Turns out all that my father did was rightfully done, and I have just been caught in all this mess by enduring all that has happened.”

Lionel trembled slightly at her hurtful words. A hint of pain flickered across his eyes.

He turned his head stiffly, letting his gaze fall on Victoria.

Ever since they had collected the divorce certificates, it was like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. She looked so much more relaxed, as though a bird in a cage that had finally been freed after years.

Her life would no longer be restrained by him.

That, to her, was the happiest ending she could have.

Victoria tilted her head slightly and looked at him with a smile. “I'm finally free, Lionel. I don't have to endure your treatment anymore. After this snowfall, spring will come. After so many years of bitter winter, my spring will be coming too.”

With that, she walked toward the taxi rank.

As she took a few steps, all of a sudden, a shrill exclamation sounded behind her, “Watch out!”
