Chapter 647

Well, well. Raiden did not forget the intention of charging me at the court. If that's the case, why will I go back to Dellmoor? I don't want to go to jail or get sued!

“I'm not going back. I'm staying here! If you insist on sending me to jail, do it then. I shall sever our ties as brothers and sisters here and now!”

Raiden frowned slightly.

She shows no regrets even when things have turned out this way. It's fine. I've already told her everything that I should. There's nothing that I can do if she doesn't want to heed my advice.

Initially, Raiden had thought that if Scarlett had turned herself in voluntarily, she might stand a chance of staying alive because of the Fletcher family's power and influence. So even though Scarlett had to spend many years in prison, she could still look forward to her release from jail in the future. And if she changed herself for the better, Scarlett's life would start afresh after she was free. At least, it would be better than the life she led currently, which was no different from a zombie.

“Fine. I won't send you to jail. There's nothing more that I can say if you continue acting this way. One day, you will suffer the dire consequences of your actions! By then, it will be too late for you to regret it. As your brother, I wanted to give you some parting advice. Yet, you wouldn't heed my words. There's nothing I can do now. I'm not going to meddle in your affairs from today onward, and don't blame me for being heartless and cruel to you in the future.”

With that, Raiden promptly turned and left.

Scarlett's legs went weak, and she collapsed slowly onto the ground.

I don't want this to happen too! But I made a mistake, and I'm at wits end now! Even if turning myself in could save my life, I'll have to spend the rest of my life in jail. I don't want to live a life without freedom, okay? I'm Lady Scarlett, and I'm born into a prestigious family. I will never allow myself to turn into a lowly criminal! The stark contrast between the two lives will be devastating to me! Luckily, I've undergone the IVF procedure and am pregnant with Justin's kid. Olivia thinks highly of me and will be happy to know that I'm pregnant. She will pick me up then and bring me into the Xuereb residence.

Scarlett knew she could use her baby as a bargaining chip to force Justin into marrying her. She could become Justin's wife, achieving a lifelong dream she had. She didn't care whether Justin loved her or not. Scarlett only wanted to take the role of his wife; thus, forcing Veronique to become a third party in her marriage and making Zephyr an illegitimate child.

With her goals set, Scarlett would never change her mind easily. A better life was waiting for her, so turning herself in like the one Raiden proposed and losing her freedom in the process was a no-go!

...

In the study at the Hoffman residence, Philip furrowed his brows toward Raymond, who sat on the swivel chair. “What do you mean by showing Juliana mercy, Raymond? She broke the rules, so it's only natural for her to be punished. We can't just let her off the hook because she is your daughter. People will never respect you again if you covered for her this time. Do you want to pass your position as the head of the family to someone else?”

Raymond grabbed the voice recorder beside him and played it as he placed it on the table.

The next second, Zeke's voice rang out from the recorder into every corner of the room. “I only have a request. You will have to ensure no members of the Shurmer family get hurt in the process. If the Hoffman family can't do that, don't criticize me for starting a battle between the two prestigious families. I have made myself very clear. I'm going to make sure Juliana and my son stay safe, so no one should think of harming them. Besides, this isn't just my decision. It is also Bailey's. If you guys think you are powerful enough to match up against Bailey, then go ahead and punish Juliana. I promise the Hoffman family will never have peace after that.”

As Zeke's voice stopped, Philip slammed his fist on the table, cursing inwardly.

D*ng. This is outrageous. He doesn't even respect the Hoffman family at all.

“So Mr. Raymond, are you intimidated by his words?” Philip questioned.

Raymond glared at Philip coldly with mixed emotions. After a while, he snorted. “Do you think I should ignore his words and get rid of the baby before locking Juliana up forever?”

“Yes. It's a must. We can't let her give birth to the Shurmer family's baby. If not, she will work with the Shurmer family to harm us, and we can't prevent the horrendous outcome. Have it slipped your mind that she had already gotten hold of many of the Hoffman family's secrets before this? We can't let her leave just like this!”

Raymond retracted his gaze, asking lightly, “We can manage the Shurmer family, but with Bailey added to the mess? She has the Luther family backing her. I'm sure you heard of Artemis being the leader of Tarragon and the possibility of Bailey being the leader of the Saviors. With these two big shots helping Zeke out, do you think the Hoffman family has the odds of success?”

Philip widened his eyes, looking at Raymond with disbelief. His voice shook when he blurted out, “W- What did you say? Is it true that Artemis and Bailey are the respective leaders of Tarragon and the Saviors?”

Raymond put his hand to his throbbing head. “Why else do you think they are so smug? That's because they have the capabilities to do so. All right. I no longer wish to dwell on this matter now that things have reached a point of no return. You shall mull over the issue yourself. It depends on you whether you want to save the Hoffman family or attempt the impossible by going up against them and destroying the Hoffman family in the process!”

He peered at Philip. “Now that both of my daughters are in trouble and have no way of inheriting my position, I can only place my hope on Tucker. This indicates that your son has the highest chance of being the future leader of the Hoffman family. Are you sure you want to ruin our foundation and let him be the head of the family with no support and backup?”

Philip was no fool and understood what Raymond meant by that. The latter was using his position as the head of the family in exchange for sparing Juliana.

Second thought formed in Philip's mind. If Raymond is willing to pass the right of inheritance to Tucker, then...

“I'll have to discuss this matter with the elders. Mr. Raymond, I did this for the family and I have no intention of forcing you to do things unwillingly.”

Raymond waved his hands. “Tucker is my nephew. I've thought of passing the right of inheritance to him since the beginning. There's no need to speak further. I have analyzed the situation with you, so I

hope you make the best decision out of everyone's best interest. After all, I'll pass our family's assets to Tucker hereafter. If you offend Zeke, you will risk destroying Tucker's future.”

Philip lowered his head in response.

If Raymond is serious, then I'll have to reconsider my decision. However... I don't plan on letting Juliana off the hook. I can control Zeke and Bailey with her as a bargaining chip! If I let Juliana leave now, Tucker and I will not be able to withstand their attack if they make a comeback. All right. Here's what! I'll agree to let Juliana keep her baby, but she and her child have to stay with our family as hostages.

Meanwhile, Bailey played another voice recording in Hallsbay's medical base study. It was a conversation between Artemis and Yvette. However, this time, Yvette didn't send this recording to her. Instead, it was Artemis.

“Is he telling me that Yvette had revealed her secret weapons and that I should go ahead and take her down in one swoop?”
