Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 468
Mia assuredly said, "No way. Molly's feelings haven't quite reached that level yet. At most, she's emotionally invested without realizing it, or she's slightly aware. She and Chad are just exploring their feelings for each other." Leo asked, "But Chad likes my aunt, right? He must've sensed that she's into him. Why is he acting as if nothing happened?"
Mia speculated, "Perhaps they're not ready to confront their feelings yet. They just want to keep things as they are for now."
Leo said bluntly, "So, they're just flirting, huh?"
Mia nodded in agreement, "Your Aunt Molly does seem to enjoy that kind of thing. Plus, Chad surely has his own reasons. The Byrnes are one obstacle, and our old man is another."
"True," Leo mused. "If Chad were to confess his feelings, he wouldn't be able to explain it to his family, nor could he freely interact with my aunt. Our family probably wouldn't allow Molly to stay with the Byrnes anymore." Mia reclined on her deck chair, with eyes closed, relaxed. "We can just sit back and watch how things unfold. Molly, being pursued by Chad, can't escape this."
"Why are you so certain?"
"The intuition of a married woman," Mia responded with a smirk.
As they were chatting, Anya approached from behind, "Auntie, Leo, what are you guys talking about?"
Leo turned around, "Adult stuff, kiddo. You shouldn't be too curious."
Mia laughed and opened her eyes to look at Leo. "Oh, look at my Leo, already considering himself an adult."
Leo retorted, "You're about to be a mom. Aren't you an adult?"
After saying that, he left the backyard and headed back to the cool indoors.
Mia gestured to the empty chair beside her, "Anya, come, sit. Let's chat."
In a while, Molly who was being pursued by the police officer Chad also joined them in the backyard. She looked at Mia basking in the sun. "Mia, do you think you're too pale and need some sun to balance your skin tone?" Mia teased, "You're not a mom yet. I'll forgive your ignorance."
After another five minutes, Mia got up with Anya's help and went back to the living room.
Andre received a call from Noah, updating him about Anya's prospective housing.
Naomi curiously inquired, "Why does Anya want to move out?"
Caught off guard by the simple question, Anya struggled with how to respond. Should she talk about the fight, which wouldn't make a good impression? Or should she make up a story, but what would she say?
Seeing Anya's dilemma, Mia casually suggested, "Living in a small dorm with so many people, there's no privacy. Since we have the money, why not let her move out?"
Anya shot Mia a grateful look.
After hanging up the phone, Andre asked Anya, "Anya, how about a two-bedroom house, a 20-minute walk from Havenbrook University?"
Before Anya could respond, Leo, who was lounging on the couch, interjected, "Isn't a two-bedroom too small? It won't be safe for her to live alone. We should hire a housekeeper, and she'll need a study room. At least a three-bedroom house would be better." After making his point, Leo sat next to Andre. His curiosity was aroused. "Andre, which neighborhood is the house in? A 20-minute walk seems far. I should check it out too. Some neighborhoods can be a bit chaotic nowadays, with many juniors and seniors moving out to rent houses as they prepare for postgraduate studies. It might not be safe for a girl to live alone. Upscale neighborhoods would be comparatively safer."
Mia raised an eyebrow at Leo's meddling. Suddenly, she said to Naomi, "Naomi, I feel like having a cup of hot milk."
Naomi stood up, "Just a moment. I'll heat it up for you."
"I'll join you."
On their way to the kitchen, Mia asked Naomi, "Naomi, what do you think of Anya?"
"She's a lovely girl. She's pretty, can cook, has a good temperament, and is obedient. Plus, she's genuinely well-behaved! And she's a good student." She wouldn't have gotten into Havenbrook University otherwise.
Mia didn't object. "How old is our Leo this year?"
"21."
"And in three years?"
"24."
Mia asked, "What should he be doing at 24?"
Naomi paused, looking at Mia who was full of mischief, and suddenly it all clicked. She laughed and excitedly clutched her hand. "Oh, Mia, I just love you so much!"
Naomi in a teaseful tone said, "You always know exactly where to tickle!"
Mia laughed, "We should definitely snag this good girl for Leo. I asked around. She doesn't have a boyfriend."
Right now, Leo still acted like a child at home. Despite being scolded and reprimanded, he was far from mature. If he could meet a suitable girl who could help him grow quickly and understand the meaning of responsibility, it wouldn't be a bad thing.
Andre had already looked into the university's misunderstanding. If Anya was a dishonest person, Andre wouldn't have invited her over for dinner. When it came to character, Mia trusted her husband's judgment. Moreover, after today's interaction, Anya seemed different from other privileged girls. She didn't have a temper and was too soft-spoken, which made her perfect for Leo. Furthermore, Anya seemed to have a soft spot for Leo.
Naomi returned to the living room after a while. "Andre, don't let Anya move out. Our house is big enough for one more person."
Andre, Bruce, and even Leo were shocked by Naomi's suggestion. Even Anya was puzzled. She innocently looked at Naomi for an explanation.
Naomi explained to Andre, "Mr. Calder only has one precious daughter. If you let her live outside, no matter how many housekeepers we hire, we would still worry. Who knows what kind of person the housekeeper might be, and what if someone bullies our soft-hearted Anya?" "Our house is big enough, and we have our own trusted housekeepers. We also have Mia, Molly, and Leo for company. Plus, they all attend the same school, so they can hang out together all the time. If she moves out, not only will we worry, but it also won't be as convenient."
Andre's gaze fell on Mia, who was sipping her hot milk. She took small sips, careful not to scald herself. He couldn't help but wonder if this was all part of her plan. Mia had captured Andre's heart, but Andre's little darling was being a bit unruly.
Leo said, "No way, I just got my freedom. I'm not being Mia's chauffeur anymore, but now you want me to be Chubby Anya's chauffeur. You do it if you want it so much."
Anya also said, "Auntie, I appreciate your kindness, but I think it might be better if I live on my own."
Naomi asked, "Anya, what will you do if you encounter danger while living alone? Is it as safe as here? There are so many crimes these days, stalking, breaking in, arson. You can't take it lightly. If something happens to you, how will Andre explain to your parents?"
"You say you want to live alone. Can you drive? Do you have any friends here? You'll be stuck if you want to go somewhere; when you feel lonely, there's no one to accompany you. Now there are so many people with depression. That's a scary disease. Auntie is not trying to harm you. I genuinely like you. I'd like you to stay."
Although Leo acted immaturely, he never lost his head at crucial times. His mom's intention was to let Anya stay and be his wife?
Damn!
