Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 484
In the dead of night, Mia clung desperately to Andre's shirt, refusing to let him leave her side. She lay on the hospital gurney, her knuckles white with fear. "Honey, I'm so scared. I can't do this," she whimpered. Andre held her hand, running alongside the doctors as they wheeled her to the delivery room. "It's okay, sweetheart. I'm right here with you," he reassured her, his fingers wrapped around her icy-cold hand. As the nurse prepared to wheel Mia into the delivery room, Mia kept clutching Andre's shirt. "Andre, please come with me."
"Of course, let me change into scrubs," he assured her.
The nurse bent down next to Mia to comfort her, trying to coax her into releasing Andre's shirt. "Mrs. Cedillo, if you keep holding onto Andre, he can't change. Let go, dear," the nurse said gently.
Tears welled up in Mia's eyes, and she began to sob. She had always known that she would cry on the day she gave birth. "Mia, Mia," Molly rushed into the hospital, still in her pajamas and with her hair a mess. Hearing that her sister was about to give birth, she had practically run out of her house, her shoes barely staying on her feet. She reached Mia's side and grabbed her hand.
"It's okay, really. Don't be scared," Molly stuttered. Chad followed close behind, also in his pajamas. That night, they had stayed in the hospital to be with Coleen.
As Molly tried to reassure Mia, she herself was so nervous she hardly knew what to do. "I'll go in with her," Molly announced to the doctor.
"Only one person can go in, Ms. Cedillo. You should stay out here and inform the family. Andre, you should go in. Mrs. Cedillo needs you," the doctor said.
Andre nodded, comforted his sister Molly, and then pushed the gurney into the delivery room with Mia. Molly anxiously chewed on her knuckles. Seeing this, Chad quickly pulled her hand away from her mouth. "Call the family." "Chad, I forgot my phone."
Chad handed his phone to Molly. She only remembered her dad and Leo's numbers. As she dialed Leo's number, she suddenly realized that Chad also had Leo's number stored in his contacts. She had completely forgotten. "Hello, Leo, get to the hospital quickly. Mia's giving birth."
Hearing the news, Leo bolted from his room, phone in hand, and started knocking on doors. "Mom, Dad, get to the hospital. Anya, wake up. Grandma, Grandpa, we have to go to the hospital. My aunt is having a baby."
On the way, Hansen called the in-laws, the Irvin family. They were still awake when they received the call and immediately set out for the hospital. In less than half an hour, everyone had gathered at the hospital.
"How long has it been?" Hansen asked his daughter as he stood in the doorway.
Molly hadn't been keeping track of the time, but Chad answered for her, "More than twenty minutes."
"Where's Andre? His wife is giving birth, where the hell is he?" Hansen barked, looking around the room.
Molly pointed to the delivery room door. "Mia was too scared, Andre went in with her."
Hansen's temper seemed to cool at that. "Well, as long as he's with her."
Cooper clasped his hands nervously, fingers interlocking. He held his hands up to his forehead, praying silently for his sister and nephew to be safe and healthy. Aaron paced anxiously, rubbing his hands together, while Leo kept glancing at the door and then his watch. Time was moving too slowly. Leo checked the time five times in one minute.
Anya knew he was worried. She reached out silently and took Leo's hand, staring at him intently. "Chad, Aunt Mia will be fine."
Anya's soft words were like a quiet stream, soothing Leo's anxious heart. The moon hung high in the sky, casting a calm silence over the world. Outside the delivery room, everyone was waiting, anticipating the moment the door would open. Back in her hospital room, Coleen called her daughter, "Has Mia given birth yet?"
"Not yet, Mom. It's been an hour."
Inside the delivery room, Mia was screaming in pain. Her cries couldn't be heard from outside the room; only Andre, right beside her, knew of her suffering. "Honey, I'm so weak, I can't do this anymore."
Hearing his wife's cries of pain, Andre wiped the sweat from her forehead, holding her hand tightly. "Hang in there, honey. After this, we won't have any more kids."
Mia burst into tears, "You're going to help me with my homework then?"
Andre nodded, "Yes, I'll help you with your homework. I'll do anything, okay?"
The medical staff, accustomed to childbirth, were not flustered. Instead, they found Mia's tearful bargaining amusing. Mrs. Cedillo was quite the character. Threatening her husband with homework during labor was a first.
Mia took a deep breath. At that moment, the doctor pressed down on Mia's stomach, "Push harder, the baby's almost out." Mia clenched Andre's arm, her face contorted with pain, "I've used up all the strength I had from last week's water drinking." "Stop talking and save your strength," the doctor advised Mia.
"I'm scared if I don't talk," Mia admitted.
Andre could see that it was taking longer than expected. He was also sweating and anxious, but he never took his eyes off his wife. At this moment, any declaration of love seemed insufficient.
"Honey, your son is being so stubborn. Does he want to kill his mother? I'm really, I've got no energy left. Little rascal, hurry up and get out, I need to unload!!" Mia gritted her teeth, pushing and talking at the same time.
"He's almost out, the head is starting to show."
Mia screamed in pain, "Ah!"
Andre's arm was covered in nail marks; some even drew blood. He was doing his best to appear calm, knowing that he couldn't panic. He was the pillar of strength for his wife. If he panicked, Mia would also panic.
Andre suppressed his worry, trying to soothe his wife, "When he's born, I promise to punish him, okay?"
"Good, don't feed him, don't clothe him, don't let him sleep, don't hold him."
The doctor interjected, "Don't scare the baby, just push."
Mia closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and pushed again, "Little rascal, hurry up and crawl out."
Outside the delivery room, everyone looked on with grave expressions. Inside the delivery room, Mia's mind was a blank slate. Until, that is, the sound of a baby crying echoed in the room, followed by the doctor's joyful announcement, "It's a boy. Congratulations!" Mia felt like a balloon that had been deflated, instantly feeling light and floppy. Andre also finally breathed a sigh of relief. He held the delicate woman on the bed, whispering sweet nothings in her ear, "Mia, I love you."
Mia responded weakly, "Honey, childbirth is so painful. You have to love me forever, and I will love you forever."
Andre lowered his head, kissed her forehead, and made a pact with her. The doctor swaddled the baby, placing it next to Mia's bed for her to see her own child. Mia turned her head, looking at her legacy in this world. "Such an ugly duckling." The doctor: ""
The nurse: "..."
Andre also took a look, "Indeed, not the prettiest sight."
A certain newborn: "..."
Maybe I should return to Heaven and be reborn?
