Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 518
After a quick chat with Chad, Andre hung up the phone and handed it to his wife.
Mia peeked over, curiosity lighting up her eyes. "Honey, are we still picking up Molly?"
Andre, with a hint of anger, replied, "No, we're not."
Mia covered her mouth to hide a smile, looking a bit too pleased.
Seeing her husband wasn't leaving, Mia suggested, "Let's just hit the hay then. Molly's a grown woman; she won't get lost, and Chad's there to look out for her. Don't worry, sleep tight. Look how soundly our little guy is sleeping." Andre glanced at their son, who had been crying his lungs out just moments ago but was now peacefully asleep.
He settled back in bed, with their slumbering bundle of joy between them.
Andre lay down and asked, "Mia, what's going on between Molly and Chad...?"
Mia quickly pulled the covers over her head and pretended to be asleep.
Andre sighed, "You're covering the baby; he's going to start crying again."
Mia, still pretending to sleep, slid her arm out from under the covers, flung them open, and tucked the edge under her armpit once more, maintaining her charade.
Their little guy twitched at the disturbance but soon settled back into comfort, his chubby cheeks reminiscent of a younger Andre.
Andre watched his wife's antics, his mind heavy with concern for his family.
---
At the hotel, Chad glanced at the woman sprawled across his bed, fast asleep. After giving in to her whims out of some inexplicable impulse, he was now regretting it. "Bro, can you get me a room? It's already 2 AM, and if I stay to study tomorrow, it'll be such a hassle going back and forth. I don't want to leave."
Chad looked at her pleading face and, against his better judgment, agreed.
When he returned from booking Molly her room, he found her curled up in his bed, deep in slumber.
Calling her name did nothing; she wouldn't wake.
Chad gave up and sat by the bed, watching her sleep.
"Brother~"
"Hmm?"
Chad leaned in closer to Molly's face. "Why are you calling for me?"
Molly continued to sleep, her eyelids sealed shut.
Chad chuckled to himself, "Even in your dreams, it's me."
His gaze fell on her lips, and he felt a surge of desire. Nighttime was when restraint often waned, and in the dim light, control seemed impossible.
As he leaned in, close enough to feel her breath, he stopped, afraid of crossing a line he couldn't go back from.
---
The next day, Molly was rudely awoken and pulled from the cozy bed.
Back at the Cedillo household, Leo finished breakfast and reluctantly agreed to take Anya out to study, blaming the inconvenience on the little milk-guzzler on the couch. Before leaving, he picked up the baby, "How about you join me at the library? I'll start your education early."
Anya jumped at the idea, "Yes, let's take the baby to the library! I can look after him!"
Leo gave her a look, "Sure, you take care of the kid at the library, and I'll study for you. I might as well take your exams and graduate for you too."
Anya fell silent, not daring to argue.
Their mother, Naomi, walked by and took the little nephew from her son. "Be nicer to Anya. You're always so sarcastic with her; you'll drive her away one day."
Leo was left speechless as Naomi walked off with the baby, who seemed to smile in agreement with her words.
"Oh, my sweet boy, smiling at your great aunt," Naomi cooed, her wrinkles softening with affection. "Come on, I'll take you to Mia."
With that, Naomi lovingly carried the baby to the dining room, where Mia was still enjoying her breakfast.
Before heading to work, Bruce couldn't find the little munchkin. He asked his son, who was lingering in the living room, "Where's Henry?"
Anya glanced at Leo, uncertain if she should intervene on his behalf.
"After mom gave me an earful, she took him to the diner to find his mom," Leo said with a resigned shrug.
In the early hours, before the city fully awoke, Bruce stopped by the diner to scoop up the little guy, offering a warm smile and a gentle shake of the baby's tiny hand. "Uncle's off to work now, but I'll be back early to hold you tonight." The little one lay contentedly in Bruce's arms, adorable and calm.
Soon enough, Naomi swooped in to snatch the little one from her husband's embrace.
Andre, on his way to work too, came downstairs, "Mia, where's our boy?"
Hearing his dad's voice, the little one, nestled in Naomi's arms, mustered all his strength for a hearty "mmh" sound.
