Andre slipped into the car, immediately enveloped by its cozy warmth. It's funny how people always yearn for what they don't have. When it's blazing hot in the summer, they crave the crisp chill of winter, and when winter's icy grip takes hold, they dream of the searing

summer sun.

Mia was definitely missing the warmth of home. At least there, she wouldn't be shivering so hard her teeth felt like they might chatter loose.

When Molly called to check in, she picked up on Mia's longing and said, "Mia, count your blessings. Winter will pass, and summer will follow. The seasons shift, so let's just enjoy the here and now."

Mia teased, "Wow, since when did you become so wise?"

"Are you okay, though?"

After a pause, Molly dropped a surprise. "Mia, I'm thinking about having a baby with Chad. Do you think I'm rushing things?"

Mia took her time before answering, "Well, I had that crazy thought too but was too scared to tell you. Having a kid is a huge deal, you know? You should really think it over. I was over the moon when I found out I was pregnant, but then it felt like my whole life went on hold."

Molly slumped against her bed, a bit downcast. "Sigh... How did it happen for you? Did you take any fertility meds?"

Talking about the intimate details was awkward for Mia. "Honestly, we weren't really sure which time did the trick, but out of nowhere, Henry came along. It might've been one of those nights where..."

The sisters chatted for over an hour. "Is Chad working tonight?"

"Yeah, he's on a night shift. Aren't Andre and Henry with you?"

Mia laughed, "Henry insisted on going out, so Andre took him for a walk. It's way too cold for me out there."

Andre returned from the walk, both he and Henry chilled to the bone. Little Henry, with his rosy nose from the cold, darted excitedly to his mom.

After shedding their heavy coats, Mia scooped up her son, while Molly wrapped up the call.

Molly, now leaning against her bed, texted her forensic scientist sister, "Hey sis, who's on duty at your station tonight?"

Her sister quickly replied, "Let me check the roster. Why, are you trying to track down Officer Chad?"

Molly fibbed, "Just sending Chad some takeout. Wanted to order for everyone on duty too."

Before long, her sister sent the duty roster. "Tonight, it's Annie and Shawn."

Molly: "..."

Soon, her sister added, "Molly, don't bother with the takeout. Late-night food isn't great for the kidneys."

Molly responded, "Just this once, I promise."

She ordered a few late-night snacks, sending them to the usual spot. Molly was famous at the station for being the snack fairy, even if she didn't cook herself.

Chad received the late-night snack from his wife and delivered another portion next door.

Molly didn't leave it there though; she called Chad, "Where are you?"

"Just dropped off some snacks next door, heading back to the office now."

Molly perked up, "Did you tell them I sent the food?"

Under the moonlight, Chad chuckled, "Even if I didn't, everyone knows it's from you."

"That's not enough! You have to tell them it was your wife who sent it. You must!" Molly insisted, a bit urgently.

Chad reassured her, "Saying it like that feels forced. They already know it's you, no need to make it a big deal."

Molly got out of bed, "I'm coming to find you at the station."

"Alright, alright, stay put. I'll go tell them."

Chad, knowing his wife's determination, went next door again.

Her words seemed too transactional, almost like she wanted everyone to remember who sent the snacks. Chad spun it differently, "What do you guys want to drink? Molly was worried the snacks might make you thirsty, so she's thinking of ordering some drinks. She's just checking your preferences."

This way, he not only mentioned the snacks were from Molly but also boosted her image.

Mission accomplished.

Easton piped up, "Tell her not to waste money. Water's just fine."

Another officer chimed in, "Officer Chad, we're good with water. Tell Molly to get some rest and thanks for the snacks."

As Chad left, he told his wife over the phone, "You heard them. I told them, now get some sleep, or you'll be impossible to wake up in the morning."

Molly sat on the bed, "Chad, am I being too much?"

"What do you mean?"

In the eyes of the one who loves you, nothing seems over the top. Molly thought she might've been a bit much, but Chad didn't mind at all. Anyone else might've been annoyed by her insistence.

As she lay back down, Molly sighed.

The family group chat buzzed with the latest video of Henry, making Molly yearn for a child of her own.

But Chad didn't seem too eager. Jokingly, she had asked Chad about having a baby to play with. He always replied, contraceptive in hand, "No kids for the first three years..."

Relying on Chad wasn't getting her anywhere. Molly wasn't one to sit back; if she wanted something, she'd make it happen.

Taking initiative meant using her lunch break to visit the lingerie store she always passed.

To get Chad "on board," she had to put in some effort.

That evening, Molly posed a question to Chad, "Chad, red, black, or lace, which do you like?"

Officer Chad: ".

"Come on, spill!"

Chad grinned, "Why don't you try them all and let me decide?"

Molly playfully punched Chad, "You sly fox!"

Since he wouldn't choose, Molly headed to the bathroom and slipped into a lace nightgown before stepping out.

Chad, curious, got up to see what Molly was up to. As he approached, he was stopped in his tracks by the sight of her. Seeing his wife looking unusually alluring, his throat went dry.

He moved closer, wrapping his arms around her waist, dropping a kiss on her neck. "What's the occasion? You're being so forward tonight."

Molly looped her arms around Chad's neck, rising on her toes, teasing him like a playful vampire. Just that one move had Officer Chad tense in an instant. "It's a special night-"

Even though he sensed something was off, Chad couldn't help himself. He was, after all, a man, and his wife was deliberately stirring things up.

He tightened his grip on Molly and turned towards the bed, "Since you started it, I'll finish it."

"Chad, just don't wear me out, okay?"

Chad smirked, lifting her chin, "Looks like the little fox set a trap for me. But this trap, I'll happily fall for!"

And with that, his kisses fell like raindrops.
