Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 830
Before bed, Andre was scrolling through his phone and noticed it had gotten dark outside, but his nephew was still hard at work, tapping away on the keyboard. He found himself watching the same video over and over again.
Meanwhile, Mia was cuddling their son to sleep. "Honey," she said, "try on the clothes I bought you today. I picked out a dark blue short-sleeve shirt for you. Put it on, let me see if it fits, and I got you some socks, thinner than the ones before." Henry, thinking she was talking to him, opened his big, bright eyes wide. "Mommy~"
"Mommy's right here, don't worry. I got clothes for you too. Now, close those eyes and sleep tight."
Andre put his phone down and asked, "Didn't you get anything for yourself?"
"Of course, I did. I'm not just here to spoil you two and leave myself out," Mia said confidently, happy to use her husband's credit card without a second thought.
Andre took their son, who had resisted sleep for half an hour, and said to Mia, "Why don't you try on what you bought? Let's see."
As the night wore on, Leo was still busy. "I'm sure someone has tampered with this, and it's not just anyone. But I still need to find out exactly which part because the video is so long."
Conner glanced at the clock and said, "You've got work tomorrow. Leave the computer here and check when you have some time."
Leaning back in his chair, Leo said, "Uncle, didn't you say the stuff on this computer shouldn't be shown to outsiders?"
Conner chuckled, "I'd be wary of others, but not you. It's crowded at your company during the day, and being a tech firm, it's risky."
He got up, not wanting to keep his nephew any longer. "By the way, Leo, you haven't had dinner."
Leo replied, "No worries, I won't starve."
Conner, seeing the late hour, added, "Next time we meet, dinner's on me."
After seeing him off, Leo noticed the parcel pickup was closed and headed back.
Meanwhile, Molly saw her father wasn't home and decided to head back to the Byrne family with Chad.
"Grandpa, Dad's off on vacation to the summer resort. I'll check how it is tomorrow, and if it's nice, I'll take you and Grandma for a little getaway this weekend."
Grandma Aubree and Grandpa Elmer, being thrifty their whole lives, immediately declined. "It must cost a fortune. We'll stay put. Even just running the air conditioning is expensive enough."
Coleen chimed in, "Come on, Mom and Dad, what's there to worry about? Molly's making her own money now, let her treat you."
"Yeah, Grandpa and Grandma, I've got it covered. Don't worry."
Later that night, Molly stood outside her old bedroom. "Chad, can I come in?"
Chad laughed, "What's with the formality?" They were married, yet here she was, knocking on his door.
Molly pushed the door open, grinning. "Chad, about that $50 you borrowed from Mia? She's still holding a grudge. I've been playing peacemaker, which has been tough. So, could you update me on the case progress? I'm asking on behalf of Mia."
Over at the Cedillo family, when Henry finally drifted off, he was moved to his own room. Mia snuggled into Andre's arms, playfully draping her legs over his. "Honey, spill the beans. Molly wants all the gossip, especially anything linked to Conner. You wouldn't want your buddy feeling all alone while we're living it up, right?"
Officer Chad smirked, "I could tell you, but why would I?"
"Because I'm the wife you've adored since childhood," Molly cooed, trying to sweet-talk him into sharing.
Officer Chad pointed to the single bed. "A wife who sleeps in a different room?"
Molly, catching his drift, said, "Enough of that. I'm out."
She left the room in a huff.
Back at the Cedillo family, Andre teased his wife, "Mia, Conner and I have a bet. Is our second child arriving before his first? Can you help me win?"
Little Mia slowly slid her legs off him. "I'm afraid... I can't."
With that, she wrapped herself in the blanket and scooted away.
Andre chuckled heartily, then scooted over to her. "We're on the same bed, do you really think you can escape?"
"Tomorrow, I'm taking our son back to my parents'. It's been ages since they've seen him."
"I'll drive you both."
Andre leaned in to kiss her, and the room's atmosphere grew warm and cozy.
The next morning, Mia awoke to find a little "meatball" in her arms-Henry had enthusiastically woken his mom from her slumber.
After dropping Mia and Henry off at her parents', Andre headed to work.
Molly called her dad early. "Dad, can you free up a room? I want to bring my grandparents from the Byrne family over."
"There are plenty of rooms, but they're pretty run-down. Mosquitoes are everywhere at night. I got bitten all over, hardly slept. Come pick me up when you can." Molly frowned, "What's going on? Didn't you use mosquito repellents?"
"No one from the travel agency was around last night. I got five mosquitoes, and Harry and Eric got more he managed six."
Molly was upset. "Are you living in a mosquito nest? Even one mosquito can keep someone awake, let alone a whole swarm for a group of elderly folks."
Molly, frustrated, said, "Give me the number of the person who took you there. I'll get to the bottom of this."
Hansen sent her the booking information and travel agency details. "Here it is."
Molly, known for her fierce and cautious nature, called and recorded the conversation. "Hello, I'm the child of the elderly group visiting Mount Artis. I need to know their situation..."
Young people usually do their research online, but the elderly might not, often signing up just because a place looks good.
The Cedillo family was blindsided this time. Hansen only mentioned going with friends, so the younger ones assumed everything was pre-arranged by the other families. They didn't worry much and sent off the seniors.
When Molly checked online later, she found tons of negative reviews. Furious, she ended up arguing with the agency. In the end, Jade came out on top.
Afterward, she called Chad. "Chad, can you come with me to check on Dad?"
Chad replied, "What's up? I'm swamped right now."
Understanding his job's demands, Molly said, "I'll get Andre to come with me. It's about Dad. I only found out today that the travel agency Dad used didn't do any checks on the facilities for the elderly. It's a scam. The person in charge even said, 'It's just a few mosquito bites, why make a fuss? Everyone gets bitten.' I was so angry, I blew up and argued with them."
Molly applied for leave while making the call.
