Upstairs, Leo was trying to think of a way to escape when his phone buzzed. "Hello?" he answered.

A familiar voice chimed in, "Hi, is that black sedan outside yours?"

Leo glanced at his grandfather and immediately got the hint. "Yep, that's mine. Oh, is it in the way? Sorry about that! I'll be right out to move it. Give me two minutes." Hanging up, Leo grabbed his car keys and stood up. "Grandpa, I need to move my car real quick."

And with that, he dashed out.

Hansen stared at the empty table, feeling something was definitely off. He was on edge.

Outside, once the four of them regrouped, Leo clasped his hands in gratitude. "You guys really saved me this time. I'm not used to such loyalty."

Mia grinned, "Are we sneaking out, or what?"

Molly chimed in, "If not now, when?"

So, the four of them made a run for it.

After waiting ten minutes, Hansen finally pieced it together. "This is maddening!"

Later that evening at the Cedillo family home, Hansen was livid, his face flushed as he pounded the table, ranting, "This is infuriating! They've really pushed me this time!"

Naomi, upon hearing the full story, couldn't help but laugh, her shoulders shaking. She knew her laughter only fueled her father's anger, but she just couldn't stop. Those silly kids had pulled a fast one on the old man. Bruce and Andre were doing their best to keep straight faces.

Bruce dared not speak, afraid he'd burst into laughter. He wished he could hold Henry to hide his grin, letting the little guy chuckle with him.

But chubby Henry was currently cuddled up with his dad, refusing to be held by anyone else, stubbornly nestled in his arms.

In the living room, a lineup of the usual suspects stood, though this time, Leo's girlfriend had taken his place.

The three stood there, heads down-some with hands behind their backs, others fiddling with their fingers, and some standing stiffly with hands by their sides.

Grandpa's anger had even jolted Henry awake. The little chubby boy, eyes wide with curiosity, stared at his mom in trouble, then looked up at his dad, who couldn't take his eyes off her, and then at his angry grandpa. Grandpa, still fuming, banged the table again, and Henry mimicked him, waving his arms as if banging a table, but ended up patting his dad's arm instead.

Later, while Andre was chatting with Conner, an urgent call came from home. He rushed back with his son, only to find the three of them standing in a row. Andre felt his heart race and blood pressure rise. "What happened?"

After hearing the whole ordeal, Andre was just relieved. No real harm done, just a prank on the old man.

The scene unfolded with some trying to suppress laughter while others barely held it in, as Hansen angrily banged the table and Henry mimicked him. "Who started this whole thing?" Andre asked.

The three culprits raised their hands, with Anya raising both, "Uncle, Chad's not here, so I'm raising his hand for him."

Mia turned, "Silly girl, have you ever seen anyone volunteering to take the blame? He's not even here to be caught, and you're taking the fall for him? Put one hand down."

Anya obediently lowered one hand. "Uncle, it wasn't Chad's idea, it was all us."

Hansen pointed at his daughter, "Molly was the first to run."

Molly looked down.

Then he pointed at his daughter-in-law, "Mia was second."

Mia pursed her lips.

Finally, he pointed at the third, "Anya was just led astray."

Anya was always the exception.

Molly whispered to Mia, "See the difference between being married and not? If you're not married, people make excuses for you."

Mia replied, "Not like I can divorce and then..."

Andre cleared his throat, and the three immediately fell silent. He glared at his petite wife, who, clearly nervous, kept exchanging glances with her husband. She looked. d down,

"Leo was the last to run, but it was these three who lured him away."

Andre asked, "Whose bright idea was this?"

Mia and Molly said in unison, "Leo."

Anya looked innocently at the two shifting blame to her.

The aunts and uncles always preached loyalty, didn't they?

They all knew Leo was far away and wouldn't be home soon, so he wouldn't face any consequences.

Andre looked at his little wife, and

Henry, too curious, looked up at his mom. Before Andre could probe further, he saw his wife's face

"How much did you guys con out?" Andre asked.

Mia glanced at her father, "You'd have to ask Dad about that-we didn't spend a dime."

Hansen grew even angrier, "Bruce, Naomi, you two head to the

orphanage and adopt me a grandson right now. Andre, Henry take Mia home with you this instant. Where's Chad? Get Chad back here!"

Hansen continued his furious table-banging, his angry shouts echoing, "What business trip is Chad on? What did he promise me? They've led Anya astray." Henry continued to mimic his grandpa, waving his little hands, patting his dad's arm-

Molly, worried for her father's health, said, "Dad, calm down. It's not a big deal. We can pool our money and pay you back."

"Do I look like I need your money?"

Molly teased, "Seeing how fired up you are, maybe you do."

Hansen, exasperated, stood up, "You think you can do whatever you want just because you're pregnant and Chad's not here?"

Mia suddenly realized she had no shield. Molly was pregnant, protected like a crab. Anya had just returned, too dear to punish.

It was just her luck, with nothing to claim, she looked to her husband.

Andre looked down at his son.

Mia pouted, doomed to fend for herself once more. "Dad, I'll play cards with you and win you some joy beans, won't stop till I win a hundred thousand." Hansen paused, "Are you sure?"

Mia nodded.

Prompted by Mia, Molly quickly joined in, "Dad, I'll beat that level in Happy Crush for you, the one you're stuck on. If you don't pass, I won't sleep." Hansen's temper flared quickly but faded just as fast. "Level 956?"

Molly nodded.

All the easy favors had been claimed, leaving only the game world that Leo had been grumbling about.

In a soft voice, Anya offered, "Grandpa, I'm even worse at games than you. How about my boyfriend plays them for you?"

"You better mean it."

The noisy living room suddenly shifted to a warm, cozy atmosphere again.
