Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 895
Mia quickly tugged her husband by the arm, "Babe, let's step outside for a chat."
Out in the yard, Mia started explaining the whole situation. "...No one saw this coming. Molly's pregnant, and her husband isn't around. She's already feeling down. Please don't blame her, and don't get mad, okay? Otherwise, she'll feel even worse. I thought someone was targeting our son, so I held onto him the whole time. I didn't expect it to be Molly. If I hadn't been holding your son today, I would have decked the guy."
Andre gave Mia's hand a gentle shake, teasingly, "With those tiny fists of yours? You think you could actually knock someone out?"
Mia nodded confidently, "Yep, my fists are a lot stronger than they look. You have no idea how tough your wife really is."
Andre held her hand, caught between frustration and amusement.
Just then, the hospital results came in.
Mia led her husband back inside.
"Was it Officer Chapman who started it?" Easton asked.
Annie shook her head, "It was Mrs. Cedillo."
Easton responded, "Almost hit a major artery; could have led to serious blood loss."
Mia glanced at her husband and stuck out her tongue, a bit sheepish. "I had no choice. The guy seemed trained. If I hadn't stabbed him, he might have gotten up and taken hostages. The security guards are great at keeping order but not so much at catching people, so I had to make sure he stayed down."
Andre looked at his feisty little wife, amused by her logic.
"Who hit the woman?" Easton continued.
Both Mia and Annie raised their hands.
Andre looked at Mia, thinking: What did she get into this time?
"Who kicked the ribs?" Easton probed further.
Mia quickly withdrew her hand, deflecting, "That wasn't me. I just went for the head."
Annie raised her hand, "But I didn't kick. I just threw a few punches."
Easton announced, "A few punches and you broke her ribs."
The police station buzzed with murmurs of disbelief. The new female officer was turning heads.
Mia admired Annie, a woman who could match her in a scuffle.
Easton followed up, "Mrs. Cedillo hit the head, right?"
Mia nodded obediently, insisting she only gave light taps, nothing serious.
"Concussion."
Mia exclaimed, "...Is her head that fragile?!"
After speaking, Mia noticed her husband's steady gaze and hung her head, mumbling, "I really just tapped lightly twice."
"Yeah, sure, both of you 'lightly' acted. One broke ribs, the other caused a concussion. Lucky it was a criminal. If it were someone else, one of you would be handing in your badge, and the other would be behind bars," Easton balanced his praise with a hint of reprimand. Meanwhile, Anya texted her boyfriend after Leo got off work, and he rushed to the police station, "Anya."
"Chad." Anya stood up and dashed towards Leo, throwing herself into his arms.
"Were you hurt?" Leo immediately checked.
Anya whispered, "Auntie got hurt."
Leo noticed the man he feared, as Mia tried to get his attention. Her husband simply wrapped her in his arms, blocking Leo's view, "Stand properly." "Oh."
Molly was left sitting alone on a bench, "Why would he want to kill me? We have no grudges."
Leo and Andre found themselves in
the Space for the first time in stubbornly silent, as
ages,
awkward as a couple after a fight.
Mia nudged her husband's side, "Honey, say something. He's your nephew. Are you planning to never speak again?"
"Is your arm not hurting anymore? Already meddling, huh?" Andre scolded, holding her injured arm.
Anya tugged on her boyfriend's waist, whispering, "Chad, say something to your uncle, show some kindness." Leo awkwardly looked at his uncle's back, silent.
Henry, meanwhile, was chewing on a wrapper, his chubby face full of confusion, oblivious to the adult drama. As they prepared to leave, uncle and nephew still ignored each other.
Leo, who hadn't seen little Henry in ages, wanted to hold him.
Anya finally managed to wrestle Henry from Officer Chapman's arms and quickly handed him to Leo.
Henry had forgotten he even had a brother. Being held again, he frowned at the 'stranger' before him.
Leo cupped Henry's cheeks, planting kisses all over, "Little buddy, I've missed you."
Henry, now with a new nickname, protested loudly, as if arguing.
Anya pouted jealously, "Chad, how come you can kiss the baby, and I can't?"
Leo replied, "We're both guys, a few kisses don't matter. Forget it."
With that, he kissed Henry again, who swatted away further kisses.
Mia stepped in to rescue her son, "Stop kissing him! Everyone's been kissing my son today. Soon, his face will be chapped."
Leo held his little brother tightly, savoring the baby's milky scent.
In the end, Henry's crying wrapped up the gathering, and he was returned to his mother's arms. Andre turned away, heading for the car.
Leo glanced at Mia's arm, "Been walking the night road too much, got unlucky, huh?"
Mia retorted, "I'm just annoyed by the two who fought with me today. They weren't even a good warm-up."
Andre, in the car, saw his wife holding their little 'chunk', and honked the horn, "Henry, get in the car."
Leo, waiting impatiently, called out, "Mia, come over. I'm taking Ms. Anya home."
Mia wouldn't budge, "Your uncle's as stubborn as a mule. I wonder if he'll come over and pick me up if I don't move."
"Chad, Auntie wants to go back to school too," Anya said.
Leo, surprised and incredulous, replied, "Why would you do that?"
Anya explained, "Because Uncle showered Auntie with checks. She saw the money and agreed to everything."
Mia blushed at the bluntness of the statement.
Andre, growing impatient and
always the first to soften, knew their 'little bundle', who weighed over twenty pounds, would soon be too
much for Mia to carry. He got out of the car and took Henry from her.
