Sweet Redemption: The Morningstar Series Book 3 -
Sweet Redemption Chapter 52
Ahkari and I had spent hours, almost the entire day searching. I grew tired a couple hours ago but my mate was a woman on a mission. Literally.
I thought it was very honorable of her to keep up the search. Until she started to act a little crazed about it.
Through our bond I could feel her growing more and more frustrated. Her mind was running a mile a minute. She wasn't even trying to block me out at all. My mates thoughts were driving me wild.
I had stopped searching back on the third floor and just watched as she went through every inch of the rest of the castle. Something was off with her and it was freaking me out.
After begging her to take a break she finally gave in. I thought that if I could make her c*m it would ease her mind. Not that I didn't want to ravish her anyways. But much to my disappointment, it was only a temporary distraction.
The moment we got back into the kitchen Ahkari's thoughts started to sprial again. Thankfully, I was able to calm her down and make her eat. After that we went back to our search.
Ahkari had started flipped anything and everything she could over. She was no longer searching calmly but now was a strom in her search. Every room she went into she left in shambles. Like we were burglers there looking for loot or something. Ahkari didn't even seem to notice what she was doing and that was the strangest thing to me. It looked like she was looking for something specific and I was starting to really worry.
Once we got to the ballroom s**t really hit the fan. I tried to speak to her several times as she searched through the nearly empty room. She never responded. I was starting to get angry. "Ahkari!" I shouted.
My mate didn't show a reaction but she finally spoke back at least.
"I have to find it."
What the f**k did that mean?
"Find what?" I tried to ask her but she didn't pay me any attention.
"Ahkari!" I shouted at her again and again I was ignored.
This s**t was starting to piss me off. What the f**k is going on with her? I
tried to reach her through our link but I couldn't. I couldn't feel anything from her. That isn't normal.. Is it?
I couldn't take this anymore.
Walking up to my mate I punched her hard in the gut. Ahkari went flying and I had to ignore the urge to go to her. My mate hit the wall and feel to the ground. She got to her feet quickly and stared back at me with angry eyes.
I glared at her as I panted, and she held that glare. Something was off in her eyes though. A look I've never seen in them before. They are slightly clouded and look crazed.
What is happening to my mate?
Ahkari wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth.
"Get out of my way Bianca." It was a warning.
My eyes went wide with shock.
Did my mate just threaten me? I narrowed my eyes at her. What the actual f**k?
"Or what?" I spat as my own anger started to grow.
Ahkari's hands clenched into fists.
"Get. The f**k. Out. Of. My way." She gritted out every word.
Black veins danced up Ahkari's face but her eyes remained the same blue. No sign of Sage at all. And now I was slightly worried that she would actually fight me back.
Would Ahkari really hurt me? If you asked me an hour ago I would have said no in a heart beat. Now? Now I wasn't sure.
This isn't my mate. She isn't in her right mind. No way that this is my sweet and shy mate. She would never threaten me or act this way with me. I need to take a different apporch. She clearly wants me out of the way. "Why?" I asked her.
"I need to find it." Was all she said back.
"Find what Ahkari?" I spoke slowly but held my voice firm. "What are you looking for?"
Ahkari's eyes fogged over for a moment. She looked down at the floor but I could see the wheels turning in her head. Something was definitely off. It was like she forgot what was going on. Then a look of determination crossed her face.
My mate pushed passed me and started searching the room again. I tried several more times to get her attention. To get her to stop. But she never did.
Feeling more hopless than I ever have before I left my mate in her search and went to find our twins.
All three of our team mates were sitting in the kitchen. I stormed in, interrupting their laughter. Bou stood up immediately at my flustered state.
"What's wrong Bianca?" He asked causing his mate to stand up as well.
"Where is my sister?" She asked.
I was panting and tears filled my eyes.
"I.." What the f**k do I say? "Something is wrong with Ahkari. I don't know! We were searching the whole castle all day and she started to act weird and I just thought she needed a mental break. We took a small break but she insisted on searching for more clues. But..." I trailed off unsure of how to explain what was going on with my mate.
"But what Bianca?" Acaisia asked me growing worried.
"I don't know how to explain it! She just started going crazy looking all over the place. I tried to talk to her but she kept ignoring me. I tried to push through the bond but I couldn't feel anything. Even when she has her wall up I can still feel something. Something isn't right with her. I tried to punch some sense in her and she sort of threatened me." I rushed out.
"She threatened you?" Bou and Acaisia asked at the same time.
While my brothers tone was angry and accusing, his mates was concerned and confused.
I nodded.
"Sort of. She told me to get out of her way but she's never talked to me like that. When I tried to ask her why she just told me 'I need to find it'. I tried to ask her what she was looking for and for a minute she looked confused.. Like she didn't even know herself." I rushed out as tears started to fall from my eyes.
"Please just help me. Something is wrong." I begged Acaisia.
"Where is she?" She asked me.
"The ballroom." I said and turned to lead the way.
When we got back to the room where I had left my mate, things had progressed extensively.
Ahkari had all the doors and cupboards of the room open. Sheets that were piled neatly in a corner were torn and laying in shreds. And my mate...
My poor mate was now pulling up the flooring in the room. She had a decent chunk pulled up already when we had walked back in.
Acaisia looked around at the mess her twin created. Bou gasped in shock when we entered. Simon looked around as well but gave my mate an intriguing look. More tears pooled in my eyes at the concerned look Acaisia was giving my mate. "Ahkari?" Acaisia said her name softly but Ahkari didn't even notice her.
She just kept tearing up the black and white flooring.
"Ahkari.." Acaisia tried to get her twins attention again. She crouched in front of my mate but Ahkari didn't even spare her a glance.
"Kari what are you doing?" She asked.
"It's here. I know it's here. I can feel it." My mate mumbled over and over again, as she continued to rip the floor up with her bare hands. "Something is possessing her." Simon said lowly.
What the f**k does that mean?
"I can't reach through to Sage at all." Acaisia said.
Panic surged through me. I might not have actually gotten to meet Sage but she is a part of my mate. If Sage is lost what does that mean?
Instinctually my fingers touched the mark on my neck. Tingles spread through my body and I relaxed slightly. They were faint but they were there. Ahkari was in there somewhere along with her wolf.
"What are we going to do?" I asked as I wiped my tears.
My mate needs me to be strong right now. Even if I couldn't stop the desperation in my voice I had to try to be strong.
Suddenly Ahkari paused what she was doing. She was staring at the flooring in her hands but stopped moving. I could see the battle going on in her eyes and I thought maybe I had gotten to her. I walked a little closer to her. "Ahkari.." I said her name softly, and full of hope.
Apparently it knocked her out of her battle and she did not win. Ahkari didn't even look up at me, just continued to rip more flooring up. Someone needs to do something.
"Unless Bianca can break her of this haze I don't see what we can do." Simon said.
A sob broke from me at his words. I wasn't getting through to her. There was nothing? No. There had to be something we could do.
I tried to walk all the way to my mate. I had to get through to her. I had to. Before I could reach her though Bou had gripped my bicep and pulled me back. "Bianca don't." He said.
I turned to face him and he dropped his arm.
"I'm just supposed to let this keep happening? Look at her! She's possessed!" I shouted, now royally pissed off.
How could he expect me not to do anything? If this was his mate he wouldn't let anyone hold him back.
"I think we should let her keep going." Acaisia said breaking my and Bou's stare down.
"What!" I shouted at her this time.
Is she crazy? Has my brother influenced her to the point where her brain is mush?
"You want to let her stay like this!?" I was now losing my s**t.
Was everyone f*****g crazy? Am I the only sane one right now?
"She keeps saying she's looking for something. Let's let her find it." Acaisia said with a shrug.
I stared at her blankly waiting for her to take it back. She can't be serious. Just when I opened my mouth to start yelling again, Ahkari stood up.
Momentary relief flooded my system. But it quickly dissipated once I found that crazy look in her eyes.
"Do you have it?" She accused, pointing a finger at twin. Did she even see the rest of us?
Acaisia frowned at her
"Have what Ahkari?" She asked calmly.
"Do. You. Have. It." Ahkari's voice is hard.
And scary.
I know I haven't known her for long but I've never seen her look so menacing.
Acaisia didn't seem to be fazed though.
"If I had it Ahkari I would give it to you. Maybe if you tell me what it is I can help you look." She offered.
Hope sprouted in my chest as I looked at my mate. Ahkari eyed her sister up and down before shaking her head. She turned back to what she was doing and everyone only watched her. After a few more minutes I couldn't take it anymore.
"I can't keep watching this. You have to do something Acaisia. Her fingers are bleeding!" I threw my hands up ready to fight anyone who told me no one more time.
My poor mate. I can vaguely feel her wounds. Does she even feel them herserlf? She heals as fast as she gets them but in her relentless search, the wounds kept coming.
Acaisia sighed.
"Maybe there is something I can try." She said and then looked back at her twin.
Ahkari was ignoring us still as her twin walked up behind her. Acaisia cracked her knuckles, took a deep breath, and slammed her hands on my mates shoulders.
Ahkari let out a growl so loud it shook the entire room, possibly the whole castle. She looked murderous and then appeared to look to be in intense pain. She cried out in pain but her body was frozen. "You're hurting her!" I yelled out to Acaisia. I was ready to go to them but Simon held his arm up stopping me.
"Give them a moment Bianca. That is an order." He told me and I could have f*****g punched him.
The look of pain on my mates face had tears brimming my eyes again. She suddenly gripped her ears like there was a loud noise in the room. My eyes zeroed in to see he blood coming from her ears. Ahkari let out a gut wrenching scream that made me whimper and feel more helpless than ever in my life. Wind started to pick up in the room so strongly we all had to fight to stay standing. "No!" My mate shouted.
She stood to her feet and flung her twin across the room
"No! No! No! I have to find it! You can't stop me!" She was shouting as she turned to face her twin.
The wind thankfully had stopped.
Ahkari marched up to her twin looking ready for a fight. A fight that no one here would be able to stop. Dread filled me as I watched the twins.
Only my mate stopped short of reaching her sister. She eyed Acaisia up and I say that same fog cross her deep blues again.
"It's here." Acaisia whispered.
Oh no.
