Chapter 395
"Larissa, it turns out you're pregnant. Congratulations!"
Larissa's initial reaction was to turn to look at Wendy and demand with a glare, "Were you gesturing behind my back?" Wendy batted her hands with a look of innocence. "I didn't do anything! I already told you Barbara's very accurate, and you didn't believe me!" exclaimed Wendy.
"You will have a bright future and a happy relationship. The child in your belly will be the source of your strength, your motivation to push forward, and the compass that points you in the right direction," said Barbara, not knowing what they were talking about. The fifth card was the death card in reverse. "This card echoes the wheel of fortune. Good luck will return to you soon and give you a 'rebirth.' At the same time, you will reconcile with your old flame, which refers to the man you still love. You and he will end up together."
The moment Barbara finished speaking, Larissa got up and left without looking back. "Hey!" shouted Wendy, and she quickly paid Barbara, then chased after Larissa. "What the matter?" asked Wendy. Larissa snorted and said, "I don't want to stay another moment longer at a scammer's shop."
"Barbara isn't a scammer!" Wendy continued defending Barbara. "Everything she said about me that hadn't happened yet all came into fruition after that! I wouldn't lie to you even if my life depended on it! Besides, I have friends who came for readings here, and they all said she's damn accurate!"
"She forms her sentences in a way that she can cover up for herself no matter what. Besides, the people who have gone for readings would definitely think that whatever happened to them was a prophecy. Don't all fortune tellers play the same tricks?" retorted Larissa.
"Then how do you explain how she knows you're pregnant? Besides, she doesn't form her sentences the way you say she does. Didn't she say that you'll reconcile with your old flame in the end? You only have two old flames. Travis has already died from suicide, which leaves Kevan. Isn't it very obvious who she means?"
Larissa would never admit to Wendy that she had walked out in panic exactly because Barbara had said that. She would also never admit that she seemed to have become brainwashed by Barbara and thought what Barbara was trying to tell her was that she shouldn't have left Kevan.
"Lari." Wendy held Larissa's hand with a sudden look of hesitation. "I was thinking..." She licked her lips, making her lipstick fainter. "Shouldn't you keep the child?" said Wendy. Larissa found it ridiculous. "You want me to keep this child I don't even know who fathered just because of some gibberish from a random scammer? Wendy, when have you become so weird?"
"It worries me that Barbara said you made a wrong decision," said Wendy gravely. "Besides, she said that the child will be the source of your strength. So... I'm thinking ... that it's not too late to make the right decision."
Wendy's steadfast belief in Barbara made Larissa feel very helpless. Larissa didn't want to waste her breath on her anymore and was firm in her own opinion. "I will not keep this child. Even if it's the wrong decision, I won't regret it." She wasn't as reckless as putting herself and her child at risk just because of some scammer's prophecy, but Wendy was the total opposite of her.
"If you're afraid of following in your mom's footsteps, then let me raise the child after you give birth. Can you? I promise I'll let him grow up happily and healthily," asked Wendy. "How can you guarantee that?" asked Larissa. "What if your future husband doesn't agree to raise the child? Are you going to send him back to me? Or just abandon him?"
"I won't have a husband. I never planned to marry. Besides, I already started making plans to adopt a child two years ago."
