Sweet Subterfuge novel by Trina Duo -
Chapter 413
In Larissa's opinion, Bethany was a piece of work. Although, in her understanding, a five-year-old child shouldn't be capable of scheming. Besides, she was Kevan and Ruby's daughter. Therefore, it wouldn't come as a surprise if she was more intelligent than her peers.
Larissa hoped that she was overthinking.
As Larissa rarely returned home early, she unexpectedly ran into Dylan downstairs. Since they didn't live in the same building, he shouldn't have been there.
Dylan explained, "I came out for a walk."
Larissa didn't believe him.
Meanwhile, Aster was delighted to see Dylan. He didn't need Larissa to tell him to greet Dylan. Larissa resisted the urge to bring him upstairs immediately.
Dylan asked Larissa, "I heard that Aster is attending kindergarten nearby. Aren't you sending him back to Aldovia?"
"His mother is too busy to take care of him. I heard that the private kindergarten here offers extended hours of childcare, so I decided to let him stay. I initially thought of letting him go to some form of boarding school, but I was worried that he wouldn't be able to adapt, so I still picked him up every day," Larissa explained, using the story she had prepared beforehand.
Dylan pretended not to suspect anything and responded with a nonchalant grunt. He then spoke to Aster, "Aster, how's kindergarten? Do you get along well with the other kids?"
"Well, I get along well with most of the other kids, except for one." He raised his hand to show the injury to Dylan. "The one who bit me yesterday. It hurt!"
Dylan squinted his eyes, and his smile faded.
"Who bit you?" He bent down slightly, bringing his gaze level with Aster.
"Bethany!" Aster declared without any hesitation.
"Bethany?" As Kevan's best friend, Dylan naturally knew about Bethany. He lifted his head slightly and sought confirmation from Larissa, "Bethany Rogers?"
Larissa had heard other parents mention Bethany's name before, and she had some impression of it. She didn't think there was anything to hide, so she nodded and said, "Yes, it's her." Dylan's face fell.
"I will talk to Kevan's parents about this."
"There's no need for that," Larissa stopped him. "I already met with the teacher at the kindergarten today and talked to her about it."
Dylan nodded and then comforted Aster, "Don't worry, Aster. Tomorrow, I will go to kindergarten with you and help you get back at Bethany. How about that?"
Larissa knew he was joking, so she didn't comment.
However, Aster took it seriously and shook his head anxiously, "No! Mommy said boys shouldn't hit girls!"
Dylan burst into laughter.
Larissa touched Aster's head and affirmed, "That's right."
"Okay, then I won't hit her," Dylan immediately changed his approach. "I'll complain to her mother and let her scold her."
Considering the way Ruby doted on her child, Larissa didn't believe she would scold Bethany. Otherwise, Bethany wouldn't have turned out like that.
After Larissa voiced her thoughts, Dylan smirked and said, "Well, that might not be true."
