Bethany's hand was also very chubby, and although it was small, her slap was very powerful. Larissa winced with pain.

"Sweetheart!" A sharp female voice came from nearby.

Before Larissa could straighten up, she saw someone running over out of the corner of her eye. In the next second, she was shoved to the ground forcefully.

"Who are you? How dare you bully my daughter?!" The woman in front of Larissa was unreasonable, and Larissa didn't even have to look to know that it was none other than Ruby Cole. "Mommy!" Aster quickly helped Larissa up and glared angrily at Ruby. "How dare you push my mother? My mom did not bully Bethany! Apologize to my mom!"

"And who are you, little imbecile?" Ruby looked down her nose at Aster, her gaze filled with disdain.

"Ruby, you've changed so much in the years we haven't seen each other," said Larissa with a smirk. She had her head lowered the entire time, so Ruby only saw her face clearly right then. "Larissa?!" Ruby was shocked. "Why are you back?" She stared at Aster in disbelief and pointed at him, saying, "This... This is your son?"

"Yes." Larissa held Aster's hand tightly and said, "My son is in the same class as your daughter. Your daughter bit him once, and I gave you a call before." Ruby seemed to recall the incident and a look of unease came over her face at once.

"Sorry." She laughed drily and her tone softened a lot more than before. "I only hung up on you that time because I was in a bad mood. Don't take it to heart!" Her attitude was much more like before now-fake and pretentious. Larissa found it familiar.

"I apologize to you and your son on my baby's behalf." Ruby nodded apologetically and pulled her crying daughter off the ground. "We have to go home now. See you next time!" The home Ruby was referring to was Kevan's house. Larissa watched them go, her heart hurting as if someone had stabbed a needle into it.

The moment Ruby turned around, she immediately looked like a different person. Her smile disappeared completely and her expression was stormy. Her eyes were filled with hatred. How dare she! How dare Larissa live such a good life after Kevan abandoned her! How dare she look no different than before! She even looked healthier!

As for herself, she was still not accepted by Kevan's parents even though she had given Kevan a daughter. She also saw no hint of the Rogers family's wealth and riches. "It's all your fault!" She kicked Bethany's leg and scolded her resentfully. "Why couldn't you have been a boy? Why can't you earn your grandmother's affection? Why did you have to cause trouble at kindergarten?"

Bethany was scared out of her wits. Although her leg hurt, she dared not make a sound and only bit her lip harder, weeping silently. However, Ruby was still angry at the sight of her. "What are you crying about? You know nothing else other than to cry!" She raised her hand and smacked Bethany across the back of her head, making her fall forward onto the ground.

Bethany crashed to the ground, but she stood up again in a flash. She pulled the hem of Ruby's blouse and looked up, saying miserably, "Sorry, Mommy. I know I was wrong ... Please forgive me..." Ruby pulled Bethany's hand away with disgust and snapped, "Don't touch me! You're filthy! If it wasn't for you to be the Rogers family's successor, I would never have given birth to a useless piece of rubbish like you!"
