Her attention was focused on Kevan from the start. Perhaps they may have met here coincidentally, but Dylan definitely brought Kevan here on purpose. She could not yet tell if he was deliberately trying to piss her off.

Kevan kept studying her. She seemed very upset by his presence here and did not seem to want to see him. The beautiful smile on her face vanished the moment she saw them. Even though he already knew of her aversion and dislike of him, he still felt terrible whenever she displayed her feelings so clearly.

"Hi." He took the initiative to speak. "We've met before, do you remember?"

Larissa, of course, remembered. How could she not? Grunting her acknowledgment, Larissa nodded lightly, refusing to say anything beyond what was necessary.

Dylan was shocked. "You've met? When?" Kevan dared to not tell him?! That was too much!

"A few days ago, I guess." Kevan's words were measured, his gaze remaining fixed on Larissa. "This lady seemed to be a little ill, and she collapsed. I just happened to pass by and asked after her a little." Dylan only then understood why Kevan suddenly asked him to find a nanny for Larissa to help take care of Aster.

"Well, that's quite a coincidence," Dylan said.

"Indeed." Kevan smiled. "I just didn't know that this lady was a friend of yours."

"Actually ..." Dylan was about to launch into something, but Larissa glared at him, and he smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, she's been my friend for many years now. It's just that she went abroad six years ago and just came back recently." With that, he used his gaze to ask Larissa if she was satisfied with his answer, but Larissa ignored him.

Kevan then asked Dylan according to their plan, "Well? Aren't you going to introduce us?"

Dylan pretended to do exactly that. "This is Larissa Seymour, a friend of mine and the general manager of the Winston Hotel. This is Kevan Rogers, also a friend of mine. He was involved in a car accident and had just been discharged from the hospital. He is now recuperating at home. Oh, and-" He looked at Aster and ruffled his hair affectionately. "This is Aster, Larissa's son. He's five years old and he is currently attending Creative Kids Academy."

Larissa said emotionlessly, "You don't have to be so detailed with your introduction."

Kevan bent down, bracing himself on his knee with his left hand as he reached out to Aster with his right, speaking gently, "Hi, Aster. I'm Kevan Rogers, but you can call me Uncle Kevan. It's nice to meet you!" The bright sun shone into his eyes, causing multicolored light to be refracted from them. The smile on his face was equally just as bright. Larissa watched him carefully and thought, "Does he look like that too when he's with Bethany?" Bitterness surged to the forefront of her mind, and she pulled Aster into her embrace before he could shake hands with Kevan.

"It's late, and we should go home," she said. Turning to look at her, Aster's eyes were filled with concern. He was a sensitive child, so of course he noticed that something was not quite right with her. But he was not certain if this was caused by Uncle Dylan or Uncle Kevan, who they were only meeting for the first time.

He waved and said, "Bye, Uncle Dylan. Bye, Uncle Kevan!"

"Wait-!" Dylan blocked their way. Truth be told, he really hated doing such a rude thing to someone else, but he could only put everything he had on the line for his best friend. "To celebrate Aster's recovery, I'l treat everyone to a meal!"
