Chapter 439
Ella picked up where he left off. "Originally, we had another teacher accompanying the students who were in charge of specific tasks, but that teacher is on sick leave today. I was bringing the other kids to the next room to have their naps, so I could not take care of things here. That is why I did not see what happened exactly in person, and only have their words with regard to the event. To be honest, I'm the one at fault as I did not fulfill my responsibilities properly." She was very critical of herself.
Larissa did not blame her though. Honestly, if Bethany had not decided to put up an act and cause trouble, nothing would have happened.
"How did Bethany's guardians respond to this?" Larissa asked.
"Well, her grandma didn't say anything and just took her away. But if her mother is aware of this incident ... I'm sure she will come to our class and cause some trouble. You must be prepared." Ella looked scared, making it clear that this was not the first time it had happened.
"Alright." Larissa expressed her understanding. "If there's nothing else, I wish to take Aster home."
The homeroom teacher approved Aster's leave.
On the way out of the kindergarten, Aster asked Larissa carefully, "Mommy, are you angry?"
Larissa smiled a little and shook her head. "You didn't do anything wrong. Why should I be angry?"
Aster only relaxed now, his relief palpable.
Larissa did not take Aster home, nor did she take him to the hotel. She went to the mall and bought him several new sets of clothes as well as the superhero merchandise and figurines that he wanted for so long. Aster wore Superman's red cape with complete delight and seemed to be walking with the wind. Their last stop was at a private cinema.
They stayed in a superhero-themed theater and watched two superhero movies that Aster liked. Aster even got to eat his favorite fried chicken and hamburgers, food items that Larissa did not often let him eat. When they were going home, Aster was reluctant to let it all end. He asked Larissa, "Mommy, can we do this every day?"
Larissa flatly denied him, and his face crumpled at once, but his despair did not last long. The moment they got into the car, he began playing with his toys and was enjoying himself greatly. Larissa found it hilarious but also felt relieved at the same time. He was not sad anymore, that was wonderful.
Larissa had imagined various scenarios in which Ruby came over to settle things with her-some of those involved her coming over to scream at her, some were of her being a pretentious two-faced bitch sobbing and crying, and some were of her coming over calmly to demand medical compensation but none of those ever involved having Kevan come over on her stead.
...
"I heard my mom say that there was a little altercation between Aster and Bethany." Kevan got straight to the point.
Larissa nodded. "Yes." Her face was emotionless, but her heart was bitter. It was probably because Aster had no father to back him up.
"Aster is not at fault for this matter, so I will not make him apologize to your daughter for this." Larissa did her best to look tough. "However, I am willing to bear part of the medical costs as compensation for your daughter. I also hope that your family can keep an eye on your daughter and stop her from pestering Aster. After all, I do not want my son to be seen as an arrogant bully."
"You must have misunderstood." Kevan smiled wryly. "I'm not here to make Aster apologize, nor do I want you to pay me anything. On the contrary, I'm here to apologize to Aster on Bethany's behalf."
Larissa froze.
"I've already heard what happened from Ms. Gilmore. Although it's a little different from what Bethany said, I believe that Ms. Gilmore would not try to protect any student from their wrongdoings," Kevan said, "Although I'm not clear on Bethany's personality, I've heard my mom say that she has been spoiled by her mother, so she does some bad things on occasion. Now, she is fully under my mother's care. Truth be told, we've been thinking of changing schools for her. I'm truly sorry for any trouble brought to you and Aster. I promise that this sort of thing will not happen ever again."
