Chapter 441
Violet had long since guessed that Kevan would never marry Ruby. He only lost his memory, but his personality had never changed. Without the wonderful memories of the past, the basis of a relationship was lost. He would only treat Ruby the same way he treated female strangers. But she thought that he would at least try to get along with Ruby for Bethany's sake. To be honest though-the current circumstances were just what Violet hoped for.
She did not like Ruby. She never did. Otherwise, she would not have prevented Ruby from marrying into the family all these years.
"Fine," Violet agreed. "But you're still Bethany's father, you should take some time to come and see her."
She loved her granddaughter and did not want her to grow up in an environment where she did not have the love of her parents.
"I know," Kevan replied coldly.
After leaving the hospital, he went straight to Larissa's home. He received information from Dylan that Larissa had already picked Aster up from the Academy. However, he waited for quite a while before she and Aster got home. They had all kinds of shopping bags in their hands, and there were happy smiles on their faces.
Kevan could not stop himself from lighting a cigarette. The piercing smell of smoke barely managed to prevent his urge of dashing over to confess to everything.
"I hope you can keep your word." Larissa stared at him, her gaze calm and cold.
Kevan's heart ached.
"Of course." He smiled faintly.
Tightening her grip on the door handle, Larissa asked him, "Is there anything else?"
Kevan's gaze went past her and landed in the living room behind her.
"Is Aster asleep?"
Larissa was just about to say "yes," when the sound of hurried footsteps could be heard from behind.
"Mommy! Mommy!" Aster exclaimed happily. "Look! Do I look like Iron Man?"
He had already eagerly changed into the new set of Iron Man clothes that she had just bought for him. When he saw Kevan standing at the door, Aster's eyes brightened up and his voice grew louder. "Uncle Kevan! Look! I'm Iron Man!" He puffed up with extreme pride.
Kevan's face softened considerably, and his eyes had a much more genuine smile to them. "How handsome!" he complimented the child with sincerity. "Just like the real Iron Man!"
Aster giggled as he reached out for Kevan's hand and dragged him inside. "Mommy bought me so many figurines today. Come, Uncle Kevan! I'll show you!"
Kevan readily entered the house.
Annoyed, Larissa thought, "It's time to emphasize some rules with Aster. He can't just drag people into the house!"
Kevan followed Aster into his room. There was a fur rug on the floor next to the bed. There were all sorts of toys and children's books on the rug. This was probably Aster's recreational space.
As expected, he dropped his rump onto the rug and showed Kevan every single toy that was bought today.
Kevan listened attentively to him, occasionally giving him some responses.
The door was ajar, and there was a narrow crack that Larissa could use to secretly peek into the room.
Both occupants were amazingly getting along harmoniously. Kevan's gaze on Aster was gentle, and his voice when speaking was also ridiculously gentle. Unsuspecting people may think that they were actually father and son.
