Chapter 473
If it were at 7 pm, then Larissa would need to ask her assistant to stay a little longer after work to keep an eye on Aster.
"Sure, I'll be there on time," she replied with a smile.
Gary let go of her hand and rotated his wrist, turning his palm upward. "This time, you should have your contact information, I hope?" he asked.
Larissa handed him her business card. "If you need anything or have any suggestions or feedback about our hotel, feel free to reach out to me at any time."
He carefully tucked her business card into his pocket and said, "Great."
...
Larissa had already instructed Aster to wait for her in the office at night and not wander around.
"Ah..." He frowned and appeared reluctant. "But I'm scared to be alone at night."
She pinched his chubby face and reassured him, "You won't be. Chad will be around." Chad was her assistant.
"But Chad doesn't like to talk or play games. It's boring to be with him," Aster complained, his expression filled with worry.
She playfully tapped his forehead. "Why are you being so picky now?" He used to go along with whatever she said.
He stuck out his tongue and clung to her arm, pressing herself against her.
"Mommy, can I ask Uncle Kevan to come and pick me up? I really enjoy playing with him; he's super fun! And he's really nice to me!"
Instantly, she remembered the dream from the previous night. "No way!" she exclaimed. Fear and panic caused her voice to rise subconsciously, and she couldn't maintain her previous calm demeanor. Her overreaction startled Aster. She noticed his bewildered and fearful expression and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "Uncle Kevan has been busy with work, so you shouldn't bother him," she patiently explained.
Kevan had personally admitted that he had no time for anything else since the launch of Microworks Corporation's new game. So, she wasn't worried about this lie being exposed even if Aster asked Kevan. "Oh, okay..." His shoulders dropped, disappointment written all over his face.
Larissa suggested, "How about I tell Chad to play games with you?"
"No need," he replied dejectedly, shaking his head. "I don't want to bother Chad either."
She affectionately patted his head and praised him, "You're such a good boy."
She received a call from Gary at 6.30 pm. He reminded her specifically, "Ms. Seymour, don't forget about our appointment later."
She immediately shut down her computer. "I'm on my way."
She called her assistant in, gave a few instructions to Aster, and then hurriedly left. Chad was as silent as Aster had described him. Like Larissa, he was a workaholic, who couldn't be separated from his laptop even if he was assigned to accompany Aster.
Aster sat alone in a corner and sent a voice note to Kevan, saying, "Uncle Kevan, are you busy now?"
Soon, he received the same response as last time. "No. What's up?"
The gloom that had lingered over Aster vanished in an instant with Kevan's reply. He glanced at Chad, who was not far away, and lowered his voice as he asked, "Can you come and pick me up from Mommy's office?"
