Kevan was aware of the prospective partnership between Blue Star Shipping and Soaring Corporation.

He had people keeping an eye on Cody's every move. Each action that Cody took was reported to Kevan in a timely manner.

However, he didn't pay much attention to this matter.

Over the past few years, Cody had been throwing money at different investments.

Thanks to Kevan pulling some strings behind the scenes, most of Cody's ventures ended up failing, resulting in a loss of billions of dollars.

Cody himself didn't have that much personal wealth to invest.

He invested in those ventures using the name of Soaring Corporation and embezzled funds from the company.

Now that all of them incurred huge losses, Cody had no way to repay the money he'd embezzled.

The board of directors in Soaring Corporation had started to question Cody about the deficit in their account books.

Because of this, Cody was struggling financially and had been desperate for ways to raise more money.

Naturally, Kevan wouldn't let go of this golden opportunity.

He sent people to brainwash Cody, persistently encouraging him to engage in smuggling operations so that he could make enormous gains in a short period of time. Kevan knew that Cody was easily manipulated by the words of others, otherwise he wouldn't have been deceived so many times.

When Cody saw that this plan seemed too good to be true, he finally made up his mind to take the risk.

For that purpose, Cody registered a paper company engaging in international trade and hired more than ten employees to make the company seem legitimate. After that, he began negotiating deals with major shipping companies.

It didn't matter which shipping company Cody partnered up with.

What Kevan needed was to ensure that the collaboration was a success.

Following that, he would enjoy watching Cody fall from grace and let him taste the bitterness of utter despair.

However, Kevan didn't expect Larissa to be involved with Gary Logan.

The most important thing right now was to clarify whether Larissa had a personal relationship with Gary aside from work. Otherwise, she might blame him later if Gary was implicated as a consequence of Cody getting caught.

"After this, I'll go to the hospital with you," Kevan said to Alex.

Alex widened his eyes. "Didn't Dylan say that you can't go to the hospital?"

Kevan replied calmly, "I'm just going to visit someone."

Larissa had been having a busy morning.

On her way to drop Aster off at his kindergarten, she received a call from the manager of the housekeeping department. She informed her that the guest in the presidential suite had a seizure and an ambulance had been called for.

Larissa had witnessed Gary having a seizure before, so she knew how serious his condition could be. Fortunately, his assistant was with him, so there wouldn't be any immediate danger for the time being.

She instructed the manager to wait on standby in case she couldn't reach the hotel before the ambulance arrived.

If that happened, the manager needed to represent the hotel and accompany Gary to the hospital, taking care of any expenses incurred.

Fortunately, the kindergarten wasn't too far from the hotel. Larissa's driver floored the gas pedal and brought her to the hotel before the ambulance arrived.

Gary's condition had slightly improved after taking his medication. When he knew that the ambulance was on its way, he instructed his assistant, "Go downstairs and wait. When the ambulance arrives, ask them to go back to the hospital without me. Remember to pay them whatever is required."

Larissa frowned upon hearing this.

Gary was grimacing from the pain and his face was deathly pale.

"It's better if you go to the hospital for a check-up," Larissa tried to persuade him.

Gary forced a smile. "There's no need, I just need a good rest here at the hotel."

"That won't do." Larissa's tone was firm. "The hotel is responsible for every guest's well-being."

She stopped the assistant who was about to leave. "Help me bring your boss downstairs." Hesitating, the assistant glanced back and forth between Larissa and Gary.

Gary was staring in Larissa's direction, but it seemed as if he wasn't truly looking at her. Gradually, his eyes glazed over.

"Mr. Logan?" his assistant's voice brought Gary back to his senses.
