Seeing how determined he was, Larissa relented. "Alright, you can sleep with him."

Kevan lifted up the blanket and stood up from the sofa. "I'll take a shower first."

"Wait a minute," Larissa called out.

"Yes?" Kevan turned around, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

"To be honest, you didn't have to deliberately rush over here to accompany Aster," Larissa said after some hesitation. "Don't misunderstand me. I just feel that you should spend more time with your own daughter."

Although she wasn't fond of Bethany, that didn't prevent her from sympathizing with the child.

In Bethany, Larissa was vaguely reminded of her past childhood.

Like her, Bethany had grown up without parental love.

The loneliness, sadness, and fear she experienced was unimaginable to others.

Kevan had explained why he wasn't close to Bethany, but his explanation didn't convince Larissa.

"At this young age, children need the patient guidance of their parents. Now that her mother is not around, and you refuse to pay any attention to her, her character will only spiral downward." Kevan hung his head and sighed deeply.

"Actually, I also wanted to talk to you about this."

Pointing to the sofa, he asked Larissa, "Shall we sit down and have a talk?"

She sat down beside him. "What do you want to talk about?"

"About how to educate children." Worry was written all over Kevan's face.

"You know what Bethany is like. She's now living with my mother, so she has become somewhat restrained. However, the teachers report that she is still bullying other classmates at school. Today, she injured a boy in her class. My mom was busy with Grandpa's funeral affairs, so I made the trip down to the kindergarten. The boy didn't do anything wrong. He just got in her way and she ended up punching him, leaving him with a swollen face. I don't have the patience to deal with such situations. If it were up to me, I would just give her a taste of her own medicine, but that's unacceptable. You have raised Aster well, so I thought you might be able to give me some guidance."

Larissa never thought of herself as an expert in child-rearing.

Due to her busy work schedule, she hadn't spent much time disciplining Aster as Wendy did.

In such a short period of time, she couldn't come up with any useful parenting advice to share with Kevan.

Larissa told him the only thing she was sure of. "Things will definitely worsen if you ignore her all the time."

Moreover, she did not think that Kevan was that impatient.

At the very least, he was willing to spend time listening to Aster ramble on about his superheroes and play meaningless games with him. Even Larissa lacked the patience to do that. "While your daughter is still young, you should spend more time with her and correct her bad habits. It might be even more difficult when she grows older," Larissa suggested.

Kevan pondered for a moment and finally said, "I'll give it a try."

Hearing him say that, Larissa felt conflicted.

On one hand, if he spent more time with Bethany, that would reduce his time spent with Aster.

In the end, Aster might gradually lose hope of Kevan being his dad; that was something that Larissa would be glad to see.

On the other hand, the thought of him having a close relationship with Bethany inexplicably made her feel discomfited, a hint of jealousy welling up within her.

"Oh, by the way," Kevan spoke up, bringing Larissa back to her senses.

"What is it?" Stiffly, Larissa turned around and stared at him blankly.

"Do you want to adopt a cat?" Kevan's eyebrows furrowed again. "My mother has two beautiful ragdolls at home, but they are getting old. Recently, the household staff told me that Bethany has been abusing them in secret. My mother doesn't believe them, but I think that they are telling the truth. So, I plan to send the cats away. If you're interested, I'll bring them to you tomorrow."

If she wasn't mistaken, the two ragdoll cats at Violet's home should be Muffin and Cookie.

When Larissa heard that they were being abused by Bethany, she was shocked and angry. Without any hesitation, she agreed immediately, "I can take care of them."
