Chapter 961 Assimilating The Godly Dragon Force

Traces of the godly dragon's aura swam on the flood dragon's body. The desire to assimilate it filled Darren. It would be a bountiful harvest, indeed.

"Assimilate!”

His assimilating power quickly covered the tiny golden lightning bolts.

But the process wasn't easy.

The golden lightning bolts struggled under his assimilating power. This was the first time he had experienced such a thing.

In the past, his skill would either devour the thing it wished to assimilate or it wouldn't. Nothing had ever resisted against it.

Every time his assimilating power had the golden lightning wrapped up, it would fight maniacally to slip through his grasp. In a matter of seconds, it would eventually escape

"This is amazing. It's so powerful!"

This was a pleasant surprise for him. It was highly possible that this golden Godly Dragon Force was at the same high level as the strange stone inside his head.

This thought made him even more determined to obtain the Godly Dragon Force produced by the godly dragon's aura.

"Assimilate it! Assimilate it!"

Darren activated the strange stone inside his head. His assimilating power surged wildly as a result. Its effort to capture the godly dragon's aura doubled.

With the skill's increased strength, the struggles of the Godly Dragon Force gradually waned. It gave up eventually and let itself be absorbed by Darren's assimilating skill.

A faint golden light streamed into Darren's meridians.

It swam through his many channels until it reached his elixir field.

Unexpected pain crashed inside him as the golden light left a trail of destruction along its wake. The pain was getting more intense. "It's too powerful." He gasped and panted through it.

He choked back the pain as it entered his elixir field and tried to get it close to the black pyramid through sheer spiritual sense.

This caused the black pyramid to spin rapidly, trying to condense the godly dragon aura into it. But the Godly Dragon Force went berserk again, creating cracks along the black pyramid. It went on until it couldn't bear the force anymore. This resulted to an explosion.

"Ah!" Darren couldn't hold back the cries of pain. His face had gone deathly pale as the damaged black pyramid tortured him from within.

"Suppress!"

As he roared, a tidal wave of spiritual sense poured into his elixir field to keep the Godly Dragon Force at bay.

It was a battle of wills and determination inside.

The relentlessly spinning black pyramid caused the olive-black force to surge in another direction where it found a way to enter the cracks of the pyramid.

The wisp of Godly Dragon Force was also injected into the black pyramid under the pressure of the olive-black force. The Godly Dragon Force might be powerful, but it was left weak because of its small amount. In the face of Darren's overwhelming power, it was just a speck of dust.

Finally, the Godly Dragon Force embedded itself in the black pyramid. Darren heaved a sigh of relief at that.

"That almost got me. If it was a little stronger, the black pyramid would have been damaged beyond repair,” he said as he tried to catch his breath back. If ever that did happen, his elixir field would have exploded and his body would be obliterated along with his soul.

Now that his elixir field had calmed down, he sat cross-legged and assimilated the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to begin healing his wounds. He didn't bother to check out the newly assimilated Godly Dragon Force yet until the pains in his body was completely gone and his condition was back to normal.

A few days later, he opened his eyes and sprang back to his feet. He was ready to explore the so- called Spring of Forgetfulness.

"I wonder how Hailey is faring," he muttered to himself.

"Fortunately, I'm fine.” A voice rang out around him. It was followed by a very beautiful figure in purple, floating ahead of him.

"You're here!" Darren was overjoyed to discover that Hailey was still alive. After all, they were having adventures here together and he didn't want her to die.

"I've been searching for you for so many days. I had a feeling you'll come back here for the Spring of Forgetfulness, so I came here for you. I'm glad that you're okay," Hailey said, cheerfully.

"Well, I'm doing alright, too. Shall we explore the Spring of Forgetfulness together then?" Darren asked, mirroring the same cheerfulness in his voice.

"There's no need. I've already been there.” Hailey laughed, looking quite smug about this.

"Really? That's excellent news! Take me there quickly.”

"With my pleasure.”

Together, they flew to the south of the grassland.

Six hours passed and the temperature around them began to drop. Countless of ice crystals came into view.

"There it is."

Hailey pointed ahead where they could see a violent icy gust surging in one spot.

Darren flew over there and found a fingernail-sized hole where spring water gushed through. The water was extremely cold.

"It's exactly as the Water Spirit had described. We finally found it," Darren whispered, amazed. "Darren, are we really going to drink it? Is it safe to do that?" Hailey asked, anxiously.

"I think we can trust the Water Spirit. It's our only option to qualify in the test.” Darren tried to be reassuring

"All right.” Hailey nodded and continued, "I'll try it first. If anything goes wrong, I give you permission to kill me. Don't hesitate, okay?"

"Nonsense! What could possibly go wrong?" Darren said, confidently. He took the lead and began to collect some water from the Spring of Forgetfulness.

He tilted his head up and swallowed the content in one gulp.

Hailey watched in horror as he drank.

However, nothing special happened.

"See? Nothing happened. You can drink now," Darren said.

"Okay." Hailey hurriedly took some spring water and swallowed it.

Again, nothing out of the ordinary happened. She only felt the cool liquid spreading throughout her body.

"Now, let's fly out.”

The two of them began their ascent to the sea's surface.

Along the way, however, a feeling of discomfort passed through them. A wave of dizziness fell on them.

They looked at each other, confused.

"What's going on?"

The strange feeling threatened to consume Darren as it felt like he had traveled through hundreds and thousands of years all at once.

"Wait a minute. Does the spring contain the power of time?" Darren murmured.

"Something strange is happening to me, too. I seem to be watching the evolution of the mountains, the rivers and the life and death of every living creatures," Hailey whispered back. This was exactly the same feeling Darren was experiencing. It was as if he was looking through the passage of time. "Oh, my God!"

Their headaches intensified, and they suddenly found themselves unable to breathe.

Then, there was a thunderous explosion.

Both of them could feel the rule forces of the ancient times flooding inside their body like an unstoppable tsunami. They could feel something inside them change.

"Congratulations for starting my test! From now on, you will be my sworn enemies. This can only result in either your death or mine. And..."

A rumbling voice echoed inside their heads. However, the two were still too overwhelmed by the power of the ancient rules. They soon passed out before they could properly react to the unknown voice.

Meanwhile, outside the holy emperor's tomb...

An elegant, ethereal figure floated above the tomb until it eventually landed in front of it.

With his silver eyes, he glared coldly at the complicated rule silk threads.

"It seems that my real body is indeed in this place, but the rules are too complicated to break,”

he said. He turned out to be the Rule Soul Avatar.

Probing the rule forces around the holy emperor's tomb, he couldn't help but frown. It was indeed too difficult for him to open and would need more time to get through it.
