Chapter 48-1

AMELIA:

I had no idea where to go or where I was going, but as long as I was far away from the place my heart ached the most and from the person that was hurting me the most, then I didn’t care,

The night breeze swept my hair backward, and I tucked my hand into my pocket to get my phone,

Dexter was calling me.

Whatever explanation he would give to his family, I didn’t care as I just wanted to be far away from him. I declined the call and tucked the phone back into my pocket as I let out a deep sigh. I was really weak and tired and I couldn’t control my tears as they escaped my eyes,

My heart was aching seriously and it almost felt like I could pass out from the pain

I knew that every part of me was so scared because I was certain that Dexter would choose Scarlett and that was why I had chosen to leave instead.

As I approached the roadside, the only place I could think about going was the human world. I had no idea why I felt connected to the human world. It was almost as if I knew I had a life there and something special was waiting for me there,

Dexter’s call came in again, but this time I turned off my phone so I wouldn’t be tempted to think he was worried about me and head back to the only home I knew right now.

"What could an extremely beautiful lady be doing out here by this time? Hey, do you need some help?" One of them yelled at me and I instantly knew they were referring to me. Fear gripped me completely as I knew it might be impossible to defend myself from all of them,

I took my gaze away from them and began to hasten my pack, hoping that I would be able to get as far away from them as possible,

My heart didn’t stop thumping hard, and I tightened my grip,

"Hey beautiful, you don’t have to run away from us, we won’t hurt you."

I shut my eyes for a second as I heard them, but I didn’t stop walking. Sadly, there were hardly any cabs passing by at the moment because it was late.

Soon, I found my way to a long narrow path leading to a deep bush,

I turned around to see if I was still being followed by the bad men, and I let out a deep breath to see that I wasn’t,

"Booooo." A loud voice yelled right in front of me, and I yelled out loud, taking a step backward almost immediately. Unfortunately, I lost my balance and fell to the ground,

I groaned aloud in pain, raising my head to see that one of them was standing right in front of me,
